no no no, there is so much more that can be done with Sona than what this build covers, the first build is awful, pure damage dealing build with a little survivability, build 2 is a little better but i dont agree with your item and/or skill choices

Evasion seals suck on sona.
Deathfire Grasp isn't as good ad morellos for sona

on of your builds costs 19000 gold even with selling the items along the way this will never happen in a game.

Very nice :) but if you go ap i would recommend a lich bane because when you spam your heal and damage spell.
Plus it helps your powerchord :D

after taking a second (and multiple third) look at this i see that your build lacks wards. but good players will automatically get them so nvm about them. what i find displeasing this time is the amount of farm your taking from your lane partner. the core build on both side seem to be extremely expensive for a support. assuming your going the defensive rout, only 1 point in Q till lv 7 results in the lack of farming abilities and with a core build of let say duran's ring, boots of speed, tear, and soul shroud (results in the elimination of mana issues) is going to cost you roughly 3.7k and that's rougly 3.3k gold that you'll have to farm. and if you plan on getting that by say the 17 min mark that's alot of faming you need to do and that's alot of farming you need to take from your lane partner who will almost always benefit more from the farm than you do. on the other side, the core build for the aggressive build is about AA and boots and duran's ring right? lets do the math that's roughly 3.6k gold and thats 3.2k gold you need to farm and again your other lane partner will benefit more from the farm than you will. note both numbers does not include the numerous wards you should buy as the support hence adding roughly 500-800g to both numbers at roughly 17min lets say.

next because they have neutralized the mana cost of all of sona's spells to 75 it is now safe to say you no longer need clarity. however i do have to say that having a boosted AP ratio on your Q does help with damage and making this build more acceptable. however building like a burst caster is not something that i see viable on sona because if your farming like a burst caster building like a burst caster then why not play burst caster? and if your building ap items and your spamable heal has a giant ap ratio of .35 now makeing it so that ap is exclusively build to help your Q which imo isn't smart because building for 1 skill isn't a smart thing (kinda like AP ashe). you may say but my ult is .8 ap ratio..... true but how at best your ult is on a 1 min cooldown, compaired to say, Cassiopiea's .5s cooldown on her E. additionally why isn't lich bane in there when your super spammy and have giant AP? over all i am dissatisfied with the fact that your building more like a burst caster than you are as a support.

i'm not gonna complain about survivability as i know that its not an issue for sona most of the time however i do know alot of others who will complain about it so you might want a few more HP/MR/Armor items in there just to please the public who are mostly people that can only stay alive playing tanky DPS champs or ranged DPS champs

sorry for my late reply. On the note of the heal, you might have been looking at the more aggressive build order, which gets the hymn sooner to maximize damage. there's a second build up there ( I can't figure out how to get them next to each other so it's on the other side.) which is more defensive and that one will max Aria quicker. As for the Mejei's, it wasn't saying don't get it, it's just a personal recommendation, it is still a viable item if one thinks they can stay alive enough to get the stacks. If you're dying a lot it might be better to skip over it and try to finish archangels as soon as possible. If you're doing well and getting assists and kills left and right, by all means, get a mejai's it will add up. On the Clarity side of things, the reason I don't usually run it is because one of my teammates that I would be in a lane with as it, usually if I'm stuck with someone who doesn't **** I swap out for clarity. I would like to thank you for taking the time to read over and comment this guide though.

not leveling your heal till lv 8 seems a bit odd... you have bad ap ratio and bad base heal... i'm not too sure what's happening there. majai's is actually not as bad as you make it out to be. assuming your able to use your ult well, you'll be able to eat them every single team fight and each team fights gives about 3-5 stacks and if thats the case then it takes not many team fights to full stack it. and you do get gold for assists. next up it combos really nicely with deathcap and if maxed out (gives 20% cdr) it will be a huge pain. so i would personally argue that if your good at staying alive and you want to maintain the good heals/damage throughout the game then this is the item to get. however not many sona players are able to stay alive to farm their majais as they do feel too inclined to go save a friend and end up dead too. there are times to save and there are times to abandon. also if you find that you no longer have any mana issues after tear than your doing it wrong. sona is the biggest spammer in the game, as a result unless you have blue buff archangel and soul shroud then it is unlikely that you will be free of your mana problems. hence making clarity a good choice all game. and if you don not find the need for clarity unfortunately your not spamming enough :) and i also do not find the need to put any points into your e as flash + ult backwards will get you more distance then flash + e so that means that e is only good for getting around the map... but everything else i agree however i have never personally started with duran's ring before and i dont think i ever will :P
