Your guide is not bad, but I think you can improve a lot. See, picking nevermore first will cripple your damage a lot in the very first moments in the lane. I can get first blood at lvl
2 almost every time, by using torment + cripple + ignite combo. Nevermore deals less damage, can be easily dodged and has higher cooldown. You might consider picking the hextech revolver a little earlier, to benefit from the spell vamp in the laning and build Will of the Ancientes later. Before zhonya's hourglass, you should pick rylais crystal scepter, for the slow on your ultimate. In the middle of the team fight, you can slow the enemy's entire team just by using Ravenous Flock... Ah, Doran's ring is a must for swain, way better then boots, since it gives that most welcome HP, AP and Mana regen...

Honestly is the only you looked at was the cheat sheet? Why even bother leaving a comment here without reading it? The chances of getting a kill at level 2 is about 10% against a decent opponent. With a Nevermove start you can secure kills and escape ganks with a 2 second snare. Decrepify slows and at early levels extremely easy to walk out of. Getting Hextech Revolver isn't bad, but I need to get my early damage/survivability with Rabadon's Deathcap and Zhonya's Hourglass which are KEY so I do not get it. Also Doran's Ring is not always a must. There are times when you may not even need to get it thou I usually do.

This is a great guide and has been my most successful champ. In blind pick I smash opponents and I do really well.

...then I hit 30 and played ranked.

I have won a few games, I struggle with Swain. People give me a hard time for using clarity. I understand Swain's passive well, but I always find myself running out of mana. I even took the mana route on my masteries. I started to take teleport instead so that people dont complain (haha) and it works ok, until I am in a team fight and I use all my mana and there are still enemies left. Then I am dead in the water. Also, in ranked, so many people are aware of the deadliness of nevermore that it is very difficult to hit. I still love it though. I am figuring out the advantages to the w+q combo early game as a harassment tool, but it's still not enough mid if you don't have a good jungler. The champs who give me the hardest time mid are leblanc and brand.

Any suggestions?
