Hey guys! I am JomariKU. This is my first guide to make so There are some corrections and mistakes happen in this guide but just comment the problem and I'll fix it. Our guide here is about Swain, the morphing raven. He is not just an Ability power mage champion but also has some tanky attributes and skills. His last skill, Ravenous Flock is an awesome skill, but also mana hungry skill. He will morph into a badaas man-raven and can heal himself by the attacks but the mana increases as the skill goes longer on.
Many people don't use him much, In fact, I only saw few peoples playing Swain and they were all pros.
Swain is my first favorite champion, Why? Because he is fun to play. He can easily kill a champion if a player can easily do the combo. Slow - Snare - Poison then Strike or Decrepify, to slow down the enemies for you to easily snare them with a Nevermove then you just active your Torment and Ravenous Flock and don't forget to Ignite for the combo. I told too much! Let's start on the guide.

// Everytime Swain kills a unit, he gains 9 mana (+1 per level)
// This passive is very useful for Swain. Think of it, Swain is so mana hungry but is a good farmer, it means, The more unit Swain kills. The more mana he gets, and this passive is effective partnered with Ravenous Flock
// Swain targets a unit and a raven comes out and slows it.
// This skills is the first step in doing the combo. This skill is a slow that can last long until the unit that was hit is away from the raven. I max this second because you need to max first the Torment
// Swain targets an area, after a short delay. Mighty Talons will come up and snare that enemies in 2 seconds
// This ability is the key in using the combo, other words Snare. You need to point it to the enemy and try to hit it so they can be hit. The good this here is you can snare not only but, bot 2 or more as until they are in the circle. I max this last because you just need this for the snare, not the damage.
// Swain targets a unit, and throw a poison. The poison deal damage over time
// This skill is more like Ignite. Same effect, deals damage over time but does not reduce health regeneration. This will be the killer of you enemies if they tried to escape. At first, it won't too much. But if you are already in the Mid game, it causes so much damage that you can even kill a running champion. You need to max this first for better damage
// Swain transform into a giant raven that releases raven that attacks the enemies that heal Swain.
// This skill is your way to victory, you can win fights by this. You can even survive a clash if you use this, you will just drain the health of the enemies like Boom Kapow then they will die but your life is just at the half. I just remember, we were only 2 and they are 4. I quickly use this and I got quadrakill and Alistar died.
Greater Mark of Magic Penetration : I get these marks because of only one reason. To kill enemies with high magic resist faster. With your combo, you can easily kill the enemy with magic penetration.
Greater Mark of Ability Power : Sometimes, I get these marks. They give you about 0.50 ability power so if you bought 9, you can have 4.5 ability power. It may be low but useful.
Greater Mark of Mana : We all know that Swain is a mana hungry champion. Increasing his mana can be very useful for Swain.
Greater Mark of Mana Regeneration : Another useful mark, good when you are spamming your skills. You need this if you're enemy have tanky attributes and start spamming your skills. You need this.
Greater Seal of Armor : Swain really needs armor. Why? Because at early game, he is so squishy and at late game, he can really survive a fight 5v5 because of his Ravenous Flock that heals him.
Greater Seal of Magic Resist : Swain also needs magic resist if the enemies are heavy AP burst like Veigar. And.. you need to survive the fight so get some defense seals.
Greater Seal of Mana Regeneration : Swain is a mana hungry, remember?? So I prefer for you to get this.
Greater Glyph of Scaling Ability Power : You need more ability power for Swain because he is an AP Burst. If you purchased Rabadon's Deathcap, you can easily kill an enemy champion by using the combo
Greater Glyph of Mana : Again, Swain is a mana hungry champion so he will lose mana very quickly, you also spam your skills so get this if you don't want some ability power.
Greater Glyph of Mana Regeneration : Same info as the Greater Glyph of Mana.
1x Greater Quintessence of Ability Power : At the beginning of the game, you can't kill easily because you have low ability power, so I suggest getting one of this.
2x Greater Quintessence of Mana Regeneration : lol, I told Swain many times that he is a mana hungry champion. You need mana regeneration man.
Greater Quintessence of Magic Penetration : If you can't kill an enemy because of it's magic resist, Try getting three of this , it gives you 6 magic penetration.
Greater Quintessence of Armor : You are so squishy that you need armor.
Sorcery : I choose this because Swain needs some cooldown reduction and It is the first one you need to get to have access on other points.
Blast : It gives you 1 Ability power per level at four points.Remember Swain also need ability power.
Arcane Knowledge : After you max Blast , you can get this. Get this, It gives you magic penetration that helps in killing enemies.
Mental Force : Gives 6 Ability power at max point.
Spellsword : Deals 5% of your ability power to your basic attacks. Good for farming.
Archmage : Increases your ability power by 6%, yeah.
Summoner's Insight : I get this for one reason, reduces the cooldown of Flash by 15 seconds.
Wanderer : Yo man! You will play at mid lane and you also need to gank. Also you need movement speed for chasing and also escaping
Meditation : It doesn't help much because it gives only 3 mana.
Expanded Mind : 10 Mana per level, okay for me.

: // The must get shoes for all mages. It gives you high magic penetration and movement speed. I prefer you upgrade this Enchantment: Furor
: // You'll be getting many mana items because of his mana hungry attribute. It gives you mana and your mana is converted into your ability power. Don't forget to upgrade this to Seraph's Embrace.
: // This will be one of your favorite items. Your skills is gonna slow your enemy so you can kill them easily. They can't escape from you now after you bought this.
: // Exactly on the name, the perfect partner for your skill, Torment, Ignite + Torment + Liandry's Torment can do a devastating damage per second! With those 3 DPS, you can kill a running enemy.
: // It gives you Spell vamp, perfect for Ravenous Flock that heals you meaning it's double heal.
: // (Note: After you bought Archangel's Staff, upgrade it to this item). Has the same abilities as Archangel's Staff but much better.
: // This is the most devastating mage item. Like Infinity Edge but for ability power. I don't need to say more here because anyone knows it.
: // Boots here. You are really getting this if the enemy team is a Crowd Control Team. Crown Control is like snare, stun , slows. Getting this boots can give you tenacity
: // If anyone wants Cooldown Reduction, get this. But I really prefer Sorcerer's Shoes
- : // You will play at mid lane bro, you need to gank! Use this boots for better and faster ganking
: // I don't normally get this item, but It's useful for Swain, giving you a health and mana.
- Abbysal Scepter: // It reduces the magic resist of enemy champions, useful when doing your combo for better and faster killing.
: // It's like Torment , Ignite , or Liandry's Torment but I prefer Liandry's Torment instead of this.
: // The new Zhonya's Hourglass and much better because it gives you more AP so it's better for you to take this if you are that first target in a teamfight.
: // I dunno why I put this here, but I know it has ability power and magic penetration
- : // You want armor but also have some mana and ability power? Take this, this is the item that protects you from stronger ADs like Caitlyn and Master Yi because of it's armor.
- : // Boots here. You are really getting this if the enemy team is a Crowd Control Team. Crown Control is like snare, stun , slows. Getting this boots can give you tenacity
Ignite: // This is the most important spell of all, my favorite spell. The best way to kill a running/escaping champion. This ignite can fit with Torment and Liandry's Torment to deal tons of damage. I prefer this one than Exhaust
Flash: // I don't really play Swain without Flash. Why? Because this is Swain's Ultimate killing and escaping tool. Swain's a little slow so how can he catch a fast champion? Use Flash!
Ghost: // Another spell that is very useful to Swain. Can also be a killing and escaping tool. It gives you the movement speed you need to escape or to chase and to pass through units but I prefer Flash than Ghost because Flash is better in escaping, it can pass to walls!
Exhaust: // Your slowing tool. Can slow the enemy champion for better pointing of Nevermove. I don't normally get this spell but other low players who don't have Ignite and Flash yet must get thi!
Heal: // Many people call this "noob" spell because of it's low level unlock. But I don't, sometimes, people is too greedy that they towerdive to you, use heal and try to snare them with Nevermove and you got the kill.
Clarity: // Mana hungry. Uuuurgh. Use Clarity to restore your mana and go back to fight again. I don't normally get this spell because I have many mana because of the items. So I just don't get it.
This will be the match up for Swain and their difficulties. This is based on my opinion guys and I don't know what will be the results. It's not about what I think, it's about how they play.
