Releasin' the Lee Sin Guide

Introduction

dragons Rage
Hi everyone, I'm TiltSinceMS1 and this is my first Lee Sin guide on Mobafire. Lee Sin is a hard but rewarding jungler if you know his combos and his early game play style. I have played Lee Sin since early Season 4 and I'm here to help new Leecomers and maybe some veteran Lee Sin players. If there's anything that I should add please say so, I'm open to any feedback or suggestions that come my way. Also, make sure to check out my stream here.

We want to max Sonic wave first because that is our main damage ability then Tempest for more damage and a better slow for ganks or chasing a kill. We level dragons rage Dragon's rage when ever we can to maximize its damage and cooldown. Now, Some people debate whats better to max 2nd on Lee Sin. Well ask your self these questions, Am I behind? If yes then max 2nd, Does my team have enough damage? If not, Max 2nd. Questions like these can help decide what the better choice is in your games.

Skill Explanation

Flurry
After you use an ability, you gain 40% attack speed for 2 auto attacks.
This ability makes clears fast and efficient. This passive also helps greatly in dual situations the 40% bonus attack speed also helps you take towers faster after you gank a lane, Just make sure to AA 2 times after each ability to maximize this passive effect.

Sonic wave
Lee Sin fires a sonic blast in the target direction, granting True Sight of them for 3 seconds if they were hit. If Sonic Wave hits, Lee Sin can cast Resonating Strike within the next 3 seconds.

This ability is your main damage skill, it is used for chasing an enemy, escaping, and even to lead a gank ( That is only if the enemy doesn't have flash or isn't a mobile champion ex. Ahri or LeBlanc). A tip for using this ability is to try and do as much damage as possible to the enemy champion as you can before you activate Resonating Strike because Resonating Strike also scales off of % hp missing on your target.

Resonating strike
Lee Sin dashes to the enemy marked by Sonic Wave, dealing physical damage and % hp missing, capped against non-champions.

This ability is great jungle clearing ability even though its % missing is capped against non-champion targets. Casting resonating strike can make you even more mobile than a ward hop if it hits a jungle monster or minion, this can lead to amazing escapes, just make sure the minion isn't too low. *IMPORTANT* After activating resonating strike on the stealthed target that was revealed from sonic wave will no longer be revealed.

Safeguard
Lee Sin dashes to the target ally or friendly ward. If the ally is a champion, they and Lee Sin receive a shield that lasts 2 seconds and Safeguard's cooldown is halved.

This ability can be used to ward hop away from threats, to ward hop just place your cursor where you want to hop, place the ward then cast on it. You have to be fast about your timing or you will find yourself dead. This ability is also great to lead ganks with especially if they are a mobile champion because you would still have your Q if they try to flash or dash away which may result in a kill if the enemy is low enough.

Iron will
For 4 seconds, Lee Sin gains bonus life steal and spell vamp.

This ability is amazing for early jungle clearing because of the life steal and spell vamp it provides. It can also be used to save allies from incoming damage such as ignite or minion damage. Lastly, this ability makes 1v1 encounters a lot easier because it gives us the life steal as well as a small shield.

Tempest
Lee Sin smashes the ground, dealing magic damage to nearby enemies and granting vision of them for 4 seconds.

This ability is our second main damage skill its also our only AoE damage skill. This ability can be used to reveal stealthed champions such as Akali's Twilight shroud and Shaco's Deceive which makes dueling against stealthed champions much easier. This ability can also be used to clear the jungle effectively and efficiently due to its AoE, tempest also creates very nice AoE damage in teamfights.

Cripple
Lee Sin slows all enemies (within range) that are marked by Tempest for 4 seconds, the slow decays over the duration.

This ability is amazing for chasing an enemy down it gives a very nice slow that lasts for 4 seconds as it decays. Cripple can also be used to make ganks even more deadly with its slow causing the enemy to flash away most of the time if they feel threatened.

dragons rageDragon's rage
Lee Sin roundhouse kicks the target enemy champion, dealing physical damage and knocking them back for 1 second. Enemies hit by the projectile enemy receive bonus physical damage and are also knocked up for 1 second.

This ability is what makes Lee Sin abstract of all the champions, when you activate dragon's it kicks or re-positions an enemy champion in the direction Lee Sin was kicking. This ability can help win team fights by kicking the enemy ADC into your team causing them to most likely die or flash. There are many combos you can do with this ability, Scroll down and click on the video to check some of them out.

Mastery Explanations

FEROCITY TREE

Tier 1- Fury allows you to complete an overall clear faster, you can take sorcery if you're looking for more ability damage later on.

Tier 2- Fresh blood allows you to do more damage with your auto attack, Perfect combo after a Resonating Strike to deal more damage.

Tier 3- Vampirism is useless because you already have lifesteal built into your kit with although if you're having trouble clearing and ending your clears with low health I suggest taking Vampirism.

Tier 4- DEG makes you deal 5% more damage to champions and take 2.5% in return this is essential to Lee sin because you can all in targets with the extra 5% with your Resonating Strike Dragons RageDragons Rage combo. You can also feel like going Bounty Hunter if you feel like you can play aggressively and get kills against the enemy team.

Cunning

Tier 1- Savagery allows you to clear the jungle faster its a hands down must, Although if you want to abuse Lee Sin's early game you can choose wanderer for the movement speed.

Tier 2- Runic Affinity is great for jungler's because it allows them to hold Red and Blue buffs longer its a must no question.

Tier 3- MercilessYou don't have mana.

Tier 4- Grandfather's Gift Grandfather's Gift allows Lee to add a bit more damage to his ganks from the brush, You can take Dangerous game to survive in team fights after an insec.

Tier 5- Precision allows you to burst past armor allowing you to burst champions faster, The 5% CDR from is helpful for keeping you ability cooldowns low, Personal Preference.

Tier 6- Thunderlord's Decree allows you to add more burst to your kit and you dont need Stormraider's Surge or Windspeaker's Blessing.

Runes

  • Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage: Because you'll deal more damage with your ability's since they all scale with AD. Attack Speed isn't required because of Flurry; Armor Penetration is weaker but could be useful vs tanky enemies.
  • Greater Mark of Attack Damage: Because you'll deal more damage with your ability's since they all scale with AD. Attack Speed isn't required because of Flurry; Armor Penetration is weaker but could be useful vs tanky enemies.
  • Greater Glyph of Magic Resist: More tankiness vs. AP champions, you can go scaling MR runes if you want.
  • Greater Glyph of Cooldown Reduction: You could take 6 Greater Glyph's of Cooldown Reduction because Lee Sin rely's on his ability's.
  • Greater Seal of Armor: Simply for more sustain in the earlier phases of being in the jungle and for more tankiness against AD champions. In my opinion there is no alternative for this.

Tips & Combos

In the jungle you should always perform 2 autoattacks before you cast a spell to use Flurry as efficient as possible.

Try to gank as much as possible to utilize your early game stats.

Cast Iron will while killing the crab to heal up before ganking a lane.

Casting dragons rage Dragon's rage on someone then following up with a Sonic wave guarantees that will hit due to the enemy being knocked up and unable to move or flash. This is also a combo you can use to burst an enemy down if they're squishy enough.

Lee Sin can counter jungle easily due to his early game stats/damage, his mobility also helps if you run into a sketchy situation.

In the late game save your kick for your backline, if an enemy gets near them just cast dragons rage Dragon's rage on them to protect (Peel) your damage carries.
