Introduction

Renekton is a tanky dps champion, which is very strong in the current metagame. He does a lot of damage while being able to receive punishment himself. Also, he has an extremely versatile tool kit, with a double dash, a stun, an AoE lifegain attack and a Heal, Aoe Damage ult. He also is a manaless champion, making him very strong early game.

I will compare him to Irelia, since they're very similar in every way. She has a stronger nuke, late game, while Renekton has a stronger early game due to his lack of mana and stronger harass, (Slice, Stun, Spin, Dice). Late game Irelia is a stronger champion, because of her stronger stun/nuke.

Pros / Cons

Pros:
Manaless Champion
Very Strong Early Game
Extremely Fun To Play
High Skill Cap
Extremely Versatile
Great Chaser

Cons:
Weaker Late Game
Dependent On Ultimate
Fills same role as Irelia
2v2 partner needs to play aggressive

All in all, in my opinion the pros outweigh the cons, making Renekton a very viable champion

Items

Renekton's build can go a lot of different ways, depending on what your team needs. The above build i would say is a balanced build, what you would do in games against a balanced team fulfilling the role of tanky dps. If your team needs you to tank, you can build Banshee's Veil or Warmog's instead of some of the above items. If your team needs damage, feel free to build a Black Cleaver instead of a FoN or GA, though i would almost always buy a Sunfire Cape, as it synergises so well with your ultimate. Remember to buy wards. Another item to consider is Randuin's Omen. Personally I haven't found room for it in my build, but it is definetly a great item for Renekton. Some people like to start off with a Cloth Armor and 5 Health Pots, building for an early Heart Of Gold(s) into a Randuin's, which is also perfectly viable.

I would say that the only core items to get almost every game would be Ionian Boots and Sunfire Cape. These are the two best items for Renekton imo. Only in very rare cases would I substitute these out Mercury treads against the all CC team, or a Black Cleaver if my team already has at least two tanks.

Creeping / Jungling

This is a very important part of playing Renekton. Try to take Mini Golems, Wraiths, Wolves whenever you can, and whenever your not losing out on normal creep experience and gold. This is especially true with renekton because of his Slice and Dice and Spin.

Team Work

Dont be afraid to play very aggressively in team fights. Its important that you're up close with the opposing team so they're taking tons of AoE dps from your ult, Sunfire, and Cull The Meek. Use your Slice and Dice to stay on their carry, and your repeatable stun will win the the teamfight for your team.
