@Akali: Well she can't engage on you. Once she W's you go out of it. Your ult has too much presence for Akali to handle. Once she R's you, you can W her and disengage. If she decides to R you again, then just go manmode on her and kill her. You do more damage than she does.

Akali's Q+AA kit does quite a lot of burst early on :P. At level one her presence is pretty stron.

Hey, I had to make an account so I could up-vote you. I just had a ranked match where I was laning against Singed, the only character I wasn't sure how to lane against with Riven. So while it was loading I grabbed your guide and it told me exactly what I needed to know. From there the game went amazing for me, probably the best game I've played as Riven. Thank you. This guide is very comprehensive, concise and well organized.

Loved this guide, I'd always start games snowballing well but never quite knew the item build to follow to continue that, never knew whether to go more tanky/dps etc, taking the early GA just let me carry the entire game 22/0/8
