I absolutely have to agree to dkennedy. Riven is awesome to harrass melee heros by going in with her e stunning with q maybe hitting once and then retreat with q. This doesn't work so well with ranges who may hit you while you are retreating and she is indeed very vulnerable to them especially when soloing, but this can be more or less solved by diving out and into the grass. Or long story short: Lane Riven is absolutely playable.
