I'm quite the fan of Riven, and I must say she is an amazing champion. I'm not very good at explaining why I do what I do with her, which is why everything is going to be so damn short. To be brief, Riven is full time damage with part time tank.

Pros:
- No mana
- Epic shield
- Good CC
- An ult that boosts her abilities

Cons:
- Long cooldowns
- Wind Slash is only useful when the enemy has low health

Riven is an excellent solo top, which explains the runes that i selected for her. I didn't use any scaling runes because frankly, by the time you reached level 18, the amount they would give you would be obsolete.

Same reasons as the runes. These masteries help her get out there and kick ***.

The items I mentioned are great for a typical fight. I would build them in the order they appear, but there are some times where I might need some extra health to help me out against a specific champion (I'm looking at you, Darius) or I might just need some extra damage.

"Why isn't there a Guardian Angel?" The guy at Wal-Mart asked. Because I prefer to have more health and anyone who knows anything knows what Guardian Angel's aura looks like. They know that you'll come back to life and by the time you do, you might be in more trouble than you were in the first place. I'm not hating on it, and if you want Guardian Angel, then by all means, get one.

Her Q (Broken Wings) has a static cool down and does not deal as much damage as her W (Ki Burst). I consider it to be an ability that sets up her passive for total domination. It has excellent mobility and can be used to get you out of sticky spots, which is why I get it first.
"But it does damage based on her AD!" said the whiny brat. I don't care, max out her W first.

Her shield doesn't seem all that impressive at first, but when it's maxed out and you got a **** load of health, It's the best damn shield around! Oh what's that? Pantheon's ult is right on you and you're about to take massive damage? Shield. Problem solved.

I like to give credit to the players, so my guide is pretty short. My guess is that you can easily guess whether or not Riven can jungle and what point she should (late game, go for it). She's got great teamwork and when executed correctly, her Ki Burst might just save (or end) some lives. So badabing badaboom, Riven.
