Introduction

Hello together,
this is a guide about my first impressions of how to play Riven to not die as most other riven beginners do.

Guide Top

Skill Sequence

There's not a lot to say about the Skill Sequence, just max your Q and your W first, pick up your E at lvl 3 for dodgeing and correcting your position, always skill your Ult when possible and thats all.

Runes / Masteries

For runes I take flat AD marks and Quintessences and magic resist glyphs and armor seals for a stronger early game.

For masteries I chose a standart AD setup with 9 points in the defense tree to improve her earlygame as the whole build does.

Build

So if we talk about Riven, the first thing that comes up in my mind are tons of people shouting: "Riven is so underpowered, she doesn't deal any damage at all!".

Well actually they're right, but only in the early game. Try to play as defensiv as possible until you reach lvl 6 to pick up your ult. The reason is that all of Rivens spells scale with the amount of AD she has, and the best thing to give her a huge AD burst are flat AD runes and a brutalizer as fast as possible. Then try to get the attackspeed boots to let her passiv occur quicker after every Q you spam. Then a nice Bloodthirster for a nice AD boost and that kind of lifesteal that saves you from at least 3 deaths per match. I finish up the build with a Bloodrazor and Phantomdancers to give her deadly autoattacks. I never reached a game that went further, but I think as last item the Trinity Force would be the best option, which should make Riven to an unstoppable flippin ninja.

Gameplay

Well, I talked about gameplay abit before, BUT as already said, to do a lot of damage you really need to let your passiv occur after every ability. For example, spammin your Q at lvl 1 against a Jax without your passiv will deal about 100 DMG in like 4 sek, this is as much as Jax will deals with one jump. You can also use your Q and E to catch up with enemies or escaping from them. I didn't tak about the W now, and I actaully use it for a nice second burst, because it realy deals a lot of damage when full skilled, BUT if oyur playing against a Katrina or Nunu, keep the cooldown up ro instantly break up their Ult, this is really importinant, espacially in your weak early game.

Thanks

I hope this guide works out for you, it actually is my first one here.
Have fun,
Jeezye!
