You are right, I am still working on this build, and i will publish all changes at once (that's why it's not updated yet), but thank you for reading it :D

I've decided to read a lot of old guides to see if they just fell off the map and this one seemed to. I like the items all but teh second RoA I saw that you explained other items are good in your build but I doubt that you still use it. If you do see thsi comment you should update really bad, it is severly outdated and old that most of the stuff you mentioned doesnt even exist anymore. Sorry for downvoting but it's my opinion and my 2 cents.

Great guide, really opened my eyes to mana Ryze.

This build is WAY too Glass-Cannon to work in ranked play. Without mres glyphs on top of the fact that you turn your first Catalyst the Protector into a Rod of Ages instead of your Banshee's Veil, a strong AP champion will melt away your hp from early- through mid-game. This means that you will get zoned and out-farmed by any decent lane opponent; I won't downvote (or upvote) because of this, but you do need to take things like that into consideration when building a guide.

I know that you explain the scenario in your items section, but your most common build should be the one up top on the Item-Sequence line; after playing several hundred games with Ryze, I can assure you that rushing RoA when you have it listed is NOT optimal.

Similarly, your choice in masteries (3 points in Mental Force instead of 1 point in Brute Force & 2 points in Butcher ) is not optimal. 3 AP isn't going to help you significantly, as it only yields an additional 1.2 damage on overload. Being able to last-hit better with +5 damage to minions can make or break your CS score.

To summarize, this guide isn't bad. In fact, it LOOKS good and I can tell you spent some time on it; however, many of the suggestions are sub-optimal.

Sorry, but to me it seems that you did not read the guide, but only look at the build at the top...

I do explain my choices and also constantly mention alternatives for the readers that don't want du build like I would.
RoA is just an optional example for SEVEN possible Items I indicate, that someone could choose.

I don't like your ability sequence to start with... not taking Desparate Power when you can is just pointless; it's amazing how well it synergises with his other abilities, and unlike most champs Ryze can actually use his Ult with impunity, thanks to his passive, which greatly affects its CD. Not to mention leveling ti will reduce its CD by 10 seconds, meaning more use of it and your other abilities. Then there's your item build, which isn't sufficiently explained and is pretty generic apart from building RoA as your final item: a bad idea, given it takes 10 minutes to reach optimum efficiency and the game probably won't last that long at this stage. Also, the Catalyst passive is useless as you should already be lvl 18. RoA is alright without them, I do realise that, but there are plenty of better options. Not saying your build is much worse than any other, it's just pretty generic apart from the parts which I see as flawed, which you haven't sufficiently explained. If the few things that make it unique seemed logical and you could explain why then I would aplaud you, but as it is, you just seem to be reducing his effectiveness compared to other similar builds.
