The basic idea here is the build Ryze's Ap to massive heights all while just doing your job. This build does require some finesse, especially in the beginning due to Mejai's, however, once you reach Zhonya's Ring, you could run the map.

I chose /18 type runes, because, lets face it, Ryze shouldn't be putting his face out there to begin with. The idea here is to start off the Little Engine that could and become the steam powered freight train you were meant to be. However, you could just as easily swap /18 for flat runes, but, if you do the math, by the time your level 8 or 9, you have surpassed the flat runes and become stronger because of it.

When laning with a mate, taking the Amplifying Tome gives you a slight edge. Combined with your Magic Pen runes, your a deadly force to begin with, but coordination is the key with your lanemate, because, again, let's face it, Ryze has very few hit points.

When midding, or solo, I like to take Doran's Ring or a Meki pendant for the enhanced regen. The object here is NOT to push, but harras the midder and use ghost to get the early kill. Usually, getting them to half then ghosting in results in a kill.

Mid game, your Mejai's can become your bread and butter, but try not to lean on it. I get it early only to take advantage of ganking, especially when you not midding. You may want to wait on Mejai's if your midding to get your Rod of Ages.

Late game, you can be a god, basically being able to take ANY champ 1v1. Open with your Ulti, Overload, Rune Prison, and Spell Flux. by the time your Spell Fluz is off, your Overload should be up and ready, rinse REPEAT!.

Team fights are Ryze's home. Hang back and try not to be in a predictable place! You tend be first target in most fights. Let your team initiate, Ulti THEN Spell Flux! This should cause chaos in the ranks! This is about the time you want to hit ghost to give yourself some mobility. It's here the enemy team realizes who just bombed them.

This should carry you through end game. If you take ANYTHING away from this is when playing Ryze, you truly are a fragile being with ferocious power. PLAY LIKE THE ENEMY TEAM KNOWS THIS! They will come for you. Even if it sacrifices 1 or two of them, they will bomb you in attempt to slow down your build/leveling. Most of all, HAVE FUN! Hope you enjoy this build! I certainly do!
