Well, it surely is a great guide... You'll get thumbs up from me! But... I tend to use a bit different mastery tree - I loose the spell vamp and flash inhance since I go with ignite and ghost... But your idea with Strength of Spirit was a revalation!!! Thank you so much for pointing it out... On other stuff I go pretty much the same way as you...
Again I give you my thanks for pointing out quite enough facts so I can enhance my Ryze playing! Excellent build bro!

Well thought out guide +1 form me just wanted to add that a friend of mines said to just go ahead and make a second frozen heart as the sixed item on a regular basis if nothing is too extreme on the other team.

I have to say that this is the only guide that made me make an account and actually comment on it and even read it completely. Congratulations for such a detailed guide, this will definitely/ definitely help me understand Ryze better! +1 :D

Good guide. I want to ask why rune prison is almost last in the combos, when I play ryze, rune prison sets up overload, spell flux, and another overload for good harass. Also, rune prison helps out teammates.

@ EPICLegendz

Well the thing is Rune Prison can and should be used before Spell Flux in certain situations, but I prefer to do it the other way around, because of the higher damage. If Spell Flux hits first, you reduce opponents Magic Resistance and all other spells will therefore deal more damage (Rune Prison included :)

Of course it is always a matter of situation and preference: Do you want a more stationary target? or Do you want a target with lower Magic Resistance?

Thinking about it again... You're probably right! You should use Rune Prison first as it also helps you bounce Spell Flux of your opponent multiple times. The only drawback is its shorter casting range, but good positioning can easily take care of that.

Good guide +1. I really like this build, but I have some questions:
1) How you manage mana in the first levels? Wouldn't be better to have some Flat Mana Reg Seals than Scaling Mana?
2) Dropping 1 Quint of Swiftness for 1 Quint of Trasmutation would give you 5% Spell Vamp, helping your sustain in the early/mid game, until you get Hextexh Revolver.
3) Why do you take T2 Shoes before Glacial Shroud? I usually upgrade shoes after Glacial Shroud, unless i face skillshot char like Cassio. And why don't you buy Merc Treads? Against some char they help a lot and you have Spell Flux againt MR.
4) I find Butcher really helpful in the first lvls as you will be last hitting minions with your autoattack most of the time (until you get Tear and then you can use your skills) and +3 attack wouldn't help very much against turret.

@ MarcoSwish

1) Mana at first few levels is really tricky and the answer is using as little spells as possible and making those count. Meaning you hit only enemy champions with them (not minions) and preferably only with Q as it is cheaper mana wise.

2) Haven't tried these Quints yet, but as I always say: I prefer movement speed over this tiny bit of Spell Vamp! Will check them when I purchase them.

3) I am probably going to include Mercury's Treads in my guide as they're a really good choice in some situations. As far as the order goes, second boots are first, because of the same reason I prefer Quint of Swiftness over Quint of Transmutation.

4) I prefer Brute Force as I also try to hit champions with auto-attacks at first few levels.
