Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
Intro - The Champion
Ryze is a damage champ, and his best is the stun, so I managed the build to use at most the stun and his damage. He's well carry and farming, his spell flux helps to carry faster, and the stun make you safe from ganks (in most cases).
This build has heavily increased his damage but the speed still low, but that's not a real problem, because his combo is pretty mortal.
The runes are these focusing the AP and magic penetration, causing more damage and making the spells better with more AP.
You can maybe change some runes to reduce the cooldown too, that's also a great choice to Ryze, and would make him a good char to play in team fights, turning him in a real death machine.
The only big change in his original build was the swap between the last utility mastery and the Ignite mastery.
The ignite mastery is a big help to the AP points, and make him stronger each minute of the game.
Simple items, focus on health and AP, Deathfire Grasp is perfect at the end of the game to exterminate the enemy using it with your combo. Place him at the number 3 to improve your moves.
Stun first. Perfect for first blood... First blood don't win games but help you to get fed. The rest of the skills are well divided.
Flash help you a lot to run and to kill, making you get out of the enemy sights, or making you closer of the enemy. Ignite is awesome to take the last hit, avoiding you from doing fail tower dives.
