Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
Welcome to my first ever Mobafire guide,
Today, we're focusing on the champion Orianna.
Before we go on, Orianna is a difficult champion to play, and if you are looking for something easy I recommend you to go and play Garen all you gotta do is hide in a bush and press Q. :)
Anyways, as I was saying, Orianna takes time and effort to master, especially as the new S4 Patch has made Summoners Rift a paradise for AP Mids.. When fed, Orianna can carry whole teams on her back and does tons of damage. (PHREAK I LOVE YOU <3) In Mid-Late game, one good ball placement and Command: Shockwave can turn the tides of a ****py game.
I personally like Orianna for her burst, kite potential, survivability and the things she can do with engaging champions like Rammus, Zac, Jarvan IV, Lee Sin and many more.
Please, take time and read my Short guide, I hope you enjoy it, and if you did like it please take time to upvote my first guide.
Happy Reading :)
The OP Runes :D
Personally, I chose these runes over every other one is because throughout the entire game, Orianna is consistently focused, unless you're Bronze V, Then you HAVE to focus the tank, ofc. If Orianna IS focused, she's going to need survivability. These runes combined with Athene's Unholy Grail and Zhonya's Hourglass will keep her alive while dealing Insane amounts of damage.
These masteries are standard S4 AP Mid masteries, focusing on cool down reduction and damage, stomping on all that oppose you and your beloved ball. Although if you went 21/9/0 it would be as effective, this is because the magic resist is so important I can't even explain. Against someone like Ryze or Fizz who do humongous amounts of damage, that magic resist will save your life Multiple times.
You can choose any amount of items on Orianna, I just find even without a Seraph's Embrace or Lich Bane, she does insane damage whilst being very defensive. Of course, people have personal preferences on items and what works best for them and I respect that.
Note: Rod of Ages can be used if you are getting consistently focused or being shredded as soon as a teamfight breaks out.
Contrary to popular belief, also works well on Orianna if you are not building much CDR/MS and need to catch up the to your opponent.
Also works on Orianna if you don't have much mana regen/mana hungry team. (Thats you, Miss Fortune!) Although, because of the S4 update, this would only be useful in the 3v3 map, although Orianna is quite weak there.
I've seen xPeke use Teleport on Orianna many a time, and have taken inspiration and tried it myself. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SY2cCkBqTWc is an example of using it well, not offensively but defensively, using Command: Dissonance to get an early speed boost to get away from the enemy then tp away. If you want to focus on farming instead of roaming yet your teammates are falling behind or getting consistently killed, ask them to plant a ward in a bush behind the enemy. This leads to an easy single/double/even triple kill (Jungle) and puts your team ahead in the gold, morale and exp lead. Teleport can also be used badly, and can lead to feeding. To counter this try using it in blinds or draft pick. It's good practise and it doesn't risk you losing Elo.
Pros and the Cons!
- Extremely flexible, she can play all lanes. Maybe not with ease but definetly an eye opener.
- Has advanced mechanics that one can only dream of. Her potential is unmatched and her kit is the most unique as far as 4 skill kits go.
- High Survivability/Low gank rate due to her ball being used as a ward, Command: Protect and Command: Dissonance these give Orianna versatility, denying damage and giving herself or her teammate a speed boost too.
- Not weak in any part of a game, especially strong in Late Game!
- Command: Attack Provides vision and a lot of damage, and is a great harass/counter-harass spell.
- Clockwork Windup OP combined with Arcane Blade , is great for AA Harass and farming.
- Command: Shockwave Like I said earlier, this ultimate provides massive AOE Damage, can easily win/lose a game is used Well instead of Badly =(
- Her CC and AOE are insane!
- Ball Placement and timing is key. One derp moment and you could be Command: Shockwaveing a wraith camp. Still, 6G A Wraith Eh?:D
- When fed can be focused hard, to counter this, try and get your tank to protect you/get a Guardian Angel. It should help you quite a bit combined with Zhonya's Hourglass.
- Command: Shockwave Is a game changer. Miss it and miss out on your promos to GOLD
I'm going to go over some combos for Orianna. Just to give you a little head starter on how to play her/where to be positioned.
Basic Farming Combo
Mid/Late Game Farming Combo
Advanced Late Game Combo
Jungler Engage Combo
Clearing Camps. (Wolves, Wraiths, Blue, Red etc)
Baron/Dragon Steals (With people in pit)
Dragon/Baron Steals (Without people in pit)
Happy C-c-c-comboing :)
In the early stages of the game, you want to be harassing your lane opponent with as many auto attacks as you can, and once in a while maybe use a combo to chunk him/her that little bit more. As well as this you want to be farming consistently, if you have to choose between harassing your enemy or farm, go straight for the farm. Be prepared to even take counter harass whilst farming. It's that important. Farm wins games, not kills. (Don't quote me on that :9) Whenever you can and if you're strong enough, take wraiths and wolves. Your AOE and cc from Command: Attack, Command: Dissonance and Command: Protect can clear wolf and wraith camps quick enough for you to get back into lane and farm up the next wave of creeps, whilst harassing your lane opponent. As soon as you hit level 6 and gain Command: Shockwave, make sure you roam. You are the carry of your team, not that Caitlyn or that stupid rat, Twitch, All you! If anyone is going to change the game, make sure it is You! So make sure you fulfill your destiny and gank those lanes! Oh, that Renektons flaming? It's because you made your Jax snowball to hell on stomp on Renekton like a poor lil' alligator he is. Oh, that Jinx? Yeah she stopped causing havoc in Piltover 3 weeks ago after you kicked her *** with your ball. I can't stress enough how important it is to gank. A fed Orianna is a bad Orianna The early game potential of Orianna is unlimited and to this day I am still trying out different strategies.
In the middle stages of the game, you should indefinitely be roaming by now. If you can, try and keep track on the enemy Jungle's
buff. Blue helps Orianna a humongous amount and to starve it from your opposing laner is even better.
Try and force objectives! Orianna is great for harassing enemies at Baron Nashor and Dragon and can sometimes steal it (with a bit of practice) So be sure to stick around those two pits for the opportunity. You never know, that spike from that Baron Nashor steal could crush the enemy team.
I would also like to point out that, even though she has no definite escape, she is an excellent split pusher. If you place her ball in-between the caster minions and fighter minions, you can easily Q-W combo them and clear it in a few seconds. This is a massive gold income strategy and with Arcane Blade and Clockwork Windup, you can take down towers pretty quickly. Although, split pushing would mean the carry wasn't with the team and that.. that could be catastrophic.
By now you should be consistently shoving out lanes and clearing out jungle camps, you'll need the gold for the damage you will be doing. Before team fights, try to harass the enemy with Q-W-E combos as they will take a lot of damage whilst your kit cool down being very low. You may be using a lot of mana/getting into dangerous positions but if this happens, pick up a blue buff and make sure your team is with you when you harass! Try to get your team to force team fights in the jungle or in tight paths because if the enemy team is bunched together, a good Command: Shockwave could easily Ace! them (Combined with teamwork of course ^^) Make sure you don't use your Command: Shockwave too late, nor too early. As I keep repeating, one good Shockwave and that's GGWP for the rest of the game.
Everything comes to an end. Including their lives.
Thank you so so so much for reading my guide, as it's my first guide I told myself i wouldn't go into extremely deep information packets so I apologise if you were thirsty for more. She's an awesome champion and I hope you appreciate her as much as I do.
If this all goes to plan I hope to make more guides in the future and learn more formatting so I can show my YT Clips
Thanks again, I love you all. If you liked this, please up-vote it!:D
Note : Special Mention to Cubby1313 Thankyou so much for the inspiration man! Means alot!
