Although ghost does scale better, I take flash because it helps you to escape from ganks and death better than ghost would. Currently, some of the meta junglers being played are lee sin, elise, nidalee, graves, and kindred, which all provide quite a bit of damage in ganks and have slows/stuns that can lead to your death easily, so I value flash to get through laning phase. Ghost however is great late game in team fights. You could even take ghost and flash if you're willing to sacrifice your Teleport, which is a really good combination too. Yes, I'm glad you noticed, lots of challenger/masters vladimirs tend to rush cdr because it helps then sustain and harass better in lane and brings your E and Q down to 2.5 second and 2.9 second cooldowns respectively at max ranks. I actually prefer to take CDR runes over flat MR if I can get away with it in lane, but that's not always possible in lanes that have high early AP harass like Cassiopeia; In a lane like cassiopeia you'd definitely want to sacrifice your CDR blues for MR blues because she will push you out of lane if you don't take MR. This standard AP rune page is only one I recommend for beginners, as stated in the runes "notes" section, but I use a more optimal page usually that has CDR in it because I'm confident I can survive lane without MR runes in most match ups. I have a whole "runes with explanations" section that goes more in depth if you scroll down a bit on the guide. As for the choice in boots, I also prefer CDR boots because they're so good on vladimir in the early game. Situations where I would go Sorc Shoes would be vs some one tanky like Mundo, shen, malph, etc. Also late game, sorc shoes give you the most damage in teamfights because of the additional penetration they give, so you'd want to trade off your CDR boots late game for Sorc shoes.

Hope this helps!

Good morning,

Why do you like to take flash over ghost? I've played Vlad a fair amount and I am curious to your view on it. Also, I see a lot of the challenger Vlad's rushing CDR and maxing at 40-45. Why do you prefer MR blues > CDR Blues and Magic Pen boots over CDR boots?
