Introduction

In this guide I will show you which runes, masteries & jungle route you must take to reach level 6 with Warwick in exactly 6 minutes and 22 seconds.

I play as Imperatorex on EUW and I play mostly Jungle with Warwick.
I like jungling because to me it gives me a sense of control even if your lanes screw up you can help them out.

I've been trying to find the fastest way to get Warwick to level 6 because obviously that's when Warwick ganking potential is the best.

The faster you are level 6 the more surprised your enemies will be as they will not expect you to gank with your ultimate Infinite Finesss.

Note: This guide will not be explaining in-depth how to play Warwick, as it is beyond the scope. There are very good guides that goes into detail about how to play Warwick and you find them on the right column of this page under "TOP WARWICK GUIDES".

Runes

To clear your jungle as fast as possible depends on your Attack Damage and Attack Speed.

To reach level 6 as fast as possible is different thing, it's about accumulating enough experience as fast as possible for level 6.

And that's where the Experience Quintessences come into play.

A little deviation in the Attack Damage or Attack Speed will only make a few seconds difference. You could put full attack speed in reds instead of attack damage. The Experience Runes is what allows you to reach level 6 faster.

These are the base stats for Warwick and the stats gain when you level up.

Health:
592.64 (+98 per level)
Attack Damage:
62.43 (+3.375 per level)
Attack Speed:
0.679 (+2.88% per level)
Movement Speed:
345
Health Regen:
8.39 (+0.8 per level)
Armor:
25.88 (+3.5 per level)
Magic Resist:
32.1 (+1.25 per level)

So as you can see, when you are 1 level ahead you basically have about 4 Quintessences worth of stats extra. However, it's very common that you will be 2 levels ahead of the average enemy team if you keep farming enough. That's why it pays of to use XP runes and farm early game.

By farming I don't mean you should stay in jungle the whole time but when the outer turrets are down you farm by split pushing the lanes.

Masteries

FEROCITY TREE
Fury
No need to explain this. Having attack speed over ability power is always better on Warwick Jungle.

Feast
This helps you sustain in the jungle pre level 6 as you don't have armor and magic resist runes. You could pick Fresh Blood or Expose Weakness as those help you killing enemy champions faster.

Double Edged Sword
This helps you speed up jungle clearance Bounty Hunter requires you to kill 3 unique champions first to match up and Battle Trance only works against enemy champions.
If you don't care about fast level 6 than I would recommend to take Bounty Hunter as you want to get kills off course and Bounty Hunter will help you get them even more each time you kill a unique champion. That means you can get up to 5% extra damage if you kill each member of the enemy team once.

Battering Blows
You deal mostly auto-attacks with attack damage so this Armor Penetration is the way to go instead of Magic Penetration from Piercing Thoughts . But if you wanna make your Jaws of the Beast stronger then you should take Piercing Thoughts as your Q does magic damage. It helps to finish low health enemies faster as your initial damage is higher from Q. If you look at the stats in the end you'll see that you sometimes deal more magic damage against champions then physical damage. Your total damage is always more physical because of your auto-attack damage against jungle camps.

Warlord's Bloodlust
This mastery has beeen patched in 7.5 in favor of Warwick Jungle.
Moving or attacking will make an attack Energized. Your energized attacks have lifesteal and grant 30% movement speed for 0.75 seconds.
LIFESTEAL AT LEVEL 1 1%
LIFESTEAL AT LEVEL 18 50%

This is extremely useful for sustainability while jungling as well as doing more damage when having 100 stacks. When you have 100 stacks you should use your Q on the largest monster in camp as you get the most heal from it.

This has been patched again in 7.6:
Restores health equal to 3-40% total attack damage (at levels 1-18)

Less effective but still good for jungle clearing.

Why not take Fervor of Battle ? Well from my experience it does give extra damage but the extra heal from Warlord's Bloodlust helps you more with dueling and the little 30% speed boost from it can often make a difference to get that kill or not. For example you're Blood Hunt has been activated and you're chasing a low health enemy with increased speed, so by the time you use Jaws of the Beast on the enemy, the Warlord's Bloodlust will proc because you accumulated 100 stacks for an energized attack giving you 30% moving speed to deal the finish auto-attack blow.

CUNNING TREE
Savagery
Helps clearing jungle

Assassin
Whenever you wanna finish someone off you deal extra damage. Besides having longer buffs from Runic Affinity means more opportunity for enemy to kill and take over your buff.
This is especially useful when you encounter your enemy jungler and there are no allied champions nearby.

Merciless
Perfect for Warwick because you wanna make sure to hunt enemies that have low health.

Greenfather's Gift
Helps clearing jungle although you might wanna put it on Dangerous Game as that one really helps a lot with teamfights, it just might save you if you score a kill or get an assist you get a bit extra health.

Starting Items

Start with Hunter's Machete only and DON'T buy the Rejuvenation Bead at start because this saves you 150 gold and that enables you to 1st back faster to buy your Hunter's Talisman and Long Sword earlier.

You want the Hunter's Talisman for its mana regeneration. The bonus experience from does not stack with Hunter's Machete unfortunately.

Skill Sequence

Ability Sequence

As you can see I'm delaying a point in E as long as possible as it is not needed if you want to clear the jungle as fast as possible.

You only need this if you are planning to gank pre-level 6 against enemy champions. The damage reduction is not needed for minions/monsters as you sustain easily with your Q.

Versus Invasive Junglers
Or when you facing an invasive jungler like Shaco and Lee Sin, they often come visit your jungle trying to steal your creeps. In that case I put the 3rd point in E.

Adding a point in W as second instead helps you clear monsters faster as it increases your attack speed every time a monster is below 50%. This is especially useful against the Raptors as they can chunk a lot of health of you within a few seconds and Drake so you can kill it faster and Primal Howl doesn't flee the Dragon anyway.

Besides, the flee makes auto-attacking the creeps harder as they randomly move away and thus delaying your clearing.

Route 1: Fastest Level 6

[6 minute 22 seconds]

Start: Enemy Raptors
The trick to reach level 6 is to get a creep edge and that is possible by starting at the Enemy Raptors camp. You can do this pretty safely even if the enemy jungler is starting Red as they will not be able to see you killing the Raptors camp. Just make sure you tell your team that they should not follow you otherwise the enemy will know that you are gonna steal their raptors. Leave 1 small raptor behind so it won't respawn and level up. Every time you kill a camp it respawns with the average level of the players, you don't wanna give the enemy more XP.

The 7.7 patch gave the raptors more health but less damage so you walk away with more health when you've cleared it. And it doesn't take longer to kill it because most of the time you overkill anyway with your Q.

If somehow you can't kill the enemy raptors just walk a few seconds in mid-lane to get 2 or 3 minions EXP, for example after you killed the Raptors in your own jungle and you are heading to the Wolves.

Wolves > Gromp > Blue

After Blue immediately recall to base as you have accumulated enough gold for a Talisman and a Long Sword (700 Gold).

FIRST BACK AFTER BLUE
You need the Hunter's Talisman for more mana regeneration and extra sustain. The Long Sword is just that little bit extra damage to clear the camps even faster. And since you are putting the 3rd point in your Q it helps you dealing even more damage.

You might think that recalling after blue is a waste of the buff but it's only a few seconds as you have to walk to the other side of jungle anyway, later on you will not run out of mana so don't worry.

Red Buff > Krugs > Drake > Raptors

After krugs you can choose to go Raptors or Drake. You are level 4 so enemy won't expect you to do drake so it's probably not warded. See what mid and bot lanes are doing and go for Drake. If you finish Drake then you won't even need the Rift Scuttler at the end to reach level 6.

When you finish the raptors and you walk to the Wolves again you will see it exactly respawned when you arrive.

Wolves > Gromp > Rift Scuttler

The Rift Scuttler is the last 50-60 EXP you needed to reach Level 6 if you haven't done dragon. Now off course it can happen that the enemy jungler has already killed this creep, don't worry, as you are about to gank there is most probably a minion dying somewhwere in the lane and you will get that EXP when you are ganking.

At this point you will have about 60% mana and how conveniently will you encounter the honeyfruit that will replenish your mana pool so you are fully equiped to gank!

Now notice that you don't have any buffs, the timers reset at this point about 1 minute. The good thing about it is that the enemy won't get your buffs in case they kill you.

You have about 1 minute to gank and then you can go back to your buffs and farm your jungle.

When you follow this route you have reached level 6 in about 6 minutes and 22 seconds.

Pros / Cons

+ You are most likely higher level then your enemy jungler so it will be easier to kill when you encounter
+ Farming till 6 is playing safe as you are not potentially fail-ganking and feeding enemy

- When you are higher level and the enemy kills you, they get half of the EXP difference between your levels
- When everyone is level 18 you don't have any benefit from your EXP runes (so make sure you finish in time ;)

Warding/Sweeper

Gank Jungler
As a gank jungler, warding is a very important aspect of the game. A Spy is one of the oldest professions in the world as you know. You want to use the ward after or before you are ganking in a lane that doesn't have a ward yet. Also inform your teammates that they should ward.

Always buy at least 1 Control Ward, as this gives you permanent vision until destroyed.
I always ward the bushes in enemy jungle so I know when he goes blue or red buff side and that way I know when it's safe to steal a buff.

If you plan to gank a lot you can switch to a Sweeper for free and that way you have more success in ganking. Make sure to switch back if ganking phase is over.

EXP Farm Jungler
When you are gonna play the farm jungler you still need to user vision wards to help your team mates. You will be making rounds all the time in your own jungle. If you finsh your jungle you can go counter jungle or when most of enemy is in one side of the map then you go to the other side. You make sure you farm creeps that are most far away from the enemy. Should you encounter an enemy you can try your ulti. If you fail, just go back to farm and do not try to chase/finish and risk dying. You can easily farm 300 gold probably faster than you can kill with this build.

Counter Jungler
Sometimes it pays of to kill the jungler opponent early like Yi or Tryndamere as they are weak pre-level 6 so that makes them easy to kill. A good method for an easy kill is to invade the red or blue when it respawns and look for enemy jungler. If you find him then quickly go to the opposite buff and put a ward in the bushes. After finishing one buff the enemy is very likely to go to the other buff soon. Now if you don't spot him but time passed and he should be there than you can use Blood Hunt to detect his location. Use Primal Howl before engaging

Sustainability Skills

Unfortunately they nerfed Warlord's Bloodlust already in 7.6, I guess they found out how powerful it is with champions like Warwick.
It is still good to have but its less effective than in 7.5
The latest patch 7.5 has a change on Warlord's Bloodlust in favor of Warwick as it synergizes perfectly with your Q. Make sure to time your Q when you have 100 stacks when you are below level 5 as this will hugely benefit your sustainability. After level 5 it doesn't really matter as you are so strong with high attack speed. and you have more mana.

For example your Q does a heal of 40% of damage. Now when you consume the 100 stacks you basically restore 40-70 health every time. That's double the heal from your Q. Basically a potion every 5-6 seconds. You reach the 100 stacks almost as fast as your cooldown on Q while you are moving or attacking.

That's why you don't need Rejuvenation Bead or potions at start.

When to use your Q?
Use the Q on the large monsters like the big Wolves, Krugs and Raptors because your heal amount is based on your targets maximum health.

When you get Dead Man's Plate the effect is similar and synergizes with Warlord's Bloodlust and your Q so that makes a huge damage when you have both 100 stacks, and it happens easily and very often when you are playing the farm jungler.

This combo is also perfect when you are using Ghost to quickly gain 100 stacks on both and then Infinite Duress on the enemy and then E to fear and then Q to eat a huge portion of his health because your ultimate already stacked both up to 100 again. Not to mention you can use Smiteon the enemy and activate the Tiamat or its legendary versions Titanic Hydra and Ravenous Hydra to secure a kill.

First, Second & Third Back

The first moments to go back to base and buy new items is crucial and allows for faster leveling up.

First Back
The first back is when you have 700 gold so you can buy Hunter's Talisman Long Sword to clear jungle faster.

Second Back
The second back is as soon as you have at least enough gold for Tiamat as this will help you clear the jungle so much faster especially the Raptors as you can just focus on the large Raptor first and it will automatically deal damage to the smaller raptors. Activate the item and you do extra damage to all monsters in the camp. By the time the large Raptor is dead, the smaller ones are also (near) dead. Without the Tiamat you had to target every single one of them and they would eat a large portion of your health.

Third Back
The third back you want to be able to complete Dead Man's Plate for its passive and Mercury's Treads for the 30% anti CC. If you have extra gold buy Null-Magic Mantle for a little magic-resist and you can later build that into Wit's End.

I used to buy the Mobility Boots early on so I could clear jungle faster and gank faster. However since I switched to using Dead Man's Plate you are almost going as fast as with the Mobility Boots, only 10 speed difference.

Items

Ninja Tabi or Mercury's Treads
If they have a lot of crowd countrol and AP chmapions then pick Mercury's Treads
Do they have a lot of attack damage do their champs rely on autoattacks, then pick Ninja Tabi. For example they have an ADC and Jax then go for Ninja Tabi. When you die you can look what kind of damage was dealt to you.

Tiamat
This is your most important item early on, recall immediately when you have enough gold to buy it. It will help you clear multi-creep camps like Raptors very fast. Once you have this, just focus the large Raptor and large Wolf, and the smaller creeps will get damage as well and once you kill the large creep, the smaller ones are almost dead as well.

Dead Man's Plate
This item gives Defensive and offensive status. What else do you want? Get this item early on as it helps being tanky and survive fights. But the main reason you want this is for the speed bonus. So when you are chasing someone you build up momentum stacks. Once you hit your target with your Q and you have full stacks, you not only do extra damage, you also heal extra. So before you start a fight, make sure yo have 100 stacks.

Trinity Force
This item is very good especially with team fights because you deal extra damage after using an ability and it gives you short bursts of moving speed after each basic attack. It also gives cool down reduction so you can re-use your abilities faster and the extra mana and health are also very useful. All of these stats allows you to give the killing blow more in team fights.

Iceborn Gauntlet
This is a very good final item as it will help you in teamfights. You will be ulti the champion anyway and after that your auto-attacks will slow enemies around you that will help your teammates land more attacks on them. Another psychological effect that happens a lot is whenever they see iceborn zones they will try to get away instead of fighting and that makes them dying even faster.

Thornmail
Get this as 3rd or 4th item if you are facing Vayne, Master Yi or if their ad carry is fed or their whole team is AD.

When to Smite

Everyone is smiting Blue or Red but that's wrong, because that's when you don't need the heal you get from Smite. When you are level 1-6 you should smite on Raptors as they eat the most health of you and then you should save 2 smites for the Drake. Never smite when you are full health. Unless you need to help somewhere fast then off course you can smite any large monster.

Also try to keep 1 smite available to use on an enemy champion just in case you are in a fight, it just might save your life or even better kill your opponent.

Spells

Ghost Why use Ghost instead of Flash ? Because Infinite Duress will give you longer range the faster you are. Use this in combination with E when you are in lane and go for the kill before you pop your ultimate on enemy. Besides Infinite Duress can be used as a Flash when you need to escape.

Even if the enemy flashes, you can still keep up and your ultimate range increases, while as you both flash, nothing really changes. Another advantage is the cooldown on Ghost (180 seconds) is lower than Flash (300 seconds). The only disadvantage is whenever you are cornered 1v2 or 1v3 you can't easily escape by flashing over a wall and you can't ultimate away it would hit an enemy. But that just takes some anticipating so you are never cornered into that situation in the first place.

Smite
Obviously you need this as a jungler. Not that you can't kill the creeps without it but because only with smite you can purchase a junglers item like Hunter's Machete and Hunter's Talisman. These are the only items that give you experience bonus and that is crucial.

Combos

The Reverse Executioner
Ghost, Jaws of the Beast, Primal Howl,2xAA, Jaws of the Beast, Infinite Duress + Smite, Jaws of the Beast + Tiamat/hydra

The Predator's Executioner
F, R, Smite, E, 2xAA,Q+Tiamat
Ghost, Infinite Duress + Smite, Primal Howl, 2xAA, Jaws of the Beast + Tiamat/hydra
Use this combo against enemies with half health or lower.

Let's say enemy is botlane at your turret. When you are half past your first outer turret, activate your Ghost and see that your ultimate range increases the faster you go. If you already have Dead Man's Plate then your moving speed and range will increase even more. Make sure you Smite immediately when you hit your enemy as this will give maximum true damage from Skirmisher's Sabre. When your ultimate is finished, press E this allows you to do 2 auto attacks if they don't flash and you are taking less damge and then activate E again to fear your opponent and immediately Q + Tiamat/Hydra.

Hextech Thunderstriker
This combo can be done with the HEXTECH THUNDERSTRIKER WARWITCH build
Ghost, Everfrost + Infinite Duress + Smite, Primal Howl, 2xAA, Jaws of the Beast + Tiamat/hydra

Tower Diving

Warwick is one of the champs that can survive a tower dive quite easily because of his Primal Howl. Don't do this level 1-4 because I advise you take at least 40 armor to reduce the tower damage. His E reduces all incoming damage for 35-55%. Also don't do this when champs can stun or immobilize you like Morgana, Lux, Zyra, Brand, Nautilus, Blitzcrank, Bard, Galio, Veigar, Alistar, Malzahar, Amumu, Anivia, Annie, Elise, Varus and Vayne, you will likely die with tower diving unless you have enough armor and health or you know that their abilities are on cooldown. Make sure the enemy's health is low enough to kill with one Q.

Make sure you E before you dive and not after. The damage reduction lasts 2.5 seconds so be sure to escape on time. If necessary use your ultimate to escape the turret range if you haven't used it to tower dive. Hold Q if there's a minion nearby so you can lunge out of turret range.

Primary Objective: Dragon

Your primary objective early and mid-game is killing the drake every time it respawns.
Always use the blast cone on the blue side whenever possible to get into the Dragon pit so they will not see you doing Dragon even if they have the Scrutter vision in the river.

Killing dragon is more important than ganking to score a kill unless its a very easy kill. A kill is worth 300 gold but having a dragon gives you permanent buffs for your whole team. Now there is no item that gives 4% extra damage but lets say there would, it would cost at least 300 gold. That means it's worth at least 300 x 5 = 1500 gold per dragon kill.

Here is a game where you can clearly see we were on the losing side but because I managed to kill 3 drakes the tables turned and eventually we won the game.

Always anticipate the Dragon respawn timer. When it will spawn within 1 minute, make sure you are farming creeps near the Dragon either your own jungle or enemy jungle so when it spawns you can immediately go to the pit and kill it.

Infernal Drake
"Infernal Tribute" grants 8 / 16 / 24% (+50% if they have Mark of the Elder Dragon) increased attack damage and ability power.

The most coveted Drake of all...
Because it's almost a guaranteed win if you have 1 or more infernals.

Ocean Drake
"Heart of Oceans" restores 4 / 8 / 12% (+50% if they have Mark of the Elder Dragon) of missing health and missing mana over 5 seconds if not damaged by champions or turrets within 8 seconds.

That's like a permanent blue + red buff.

Mountain Drake
"Earthen Arms" grants 10 / 20 / 30% additional damage (+50% if they have Mark of the Elder Dragon) as true damage to Epic Monsters and turrets.

This buff will help your team to push towers.

Cloud Drake
"Stratus Walk" grants + 25 / 50 / 75 (+50% if they have Mark of the Elder Dragon) bonus movement speed while out of combat.

This helps split push and clear jungle as well as escaping from your enemies.

Most valuable dragons
The infernal drake is considered the most valuable dragon because of the attack and ability damage buff. After that I personally think the Ocean Drake is best because of the health and mana regeneration which helps you stay farming without going back to base to heal. It also allows you to poke more and without going back to base or use potions. The Mountain drake is very useful mid-game to take down turrets.

Utilize The Green Jungle Goodies

Scryer's Bloom
  • Reveal invisible wards and traps
  • Reveal if Red or Blue have respawned
  • Reveal hidden enemies in bushes

Always utilize this when you encounter one to reveal enemies, traps & wards. If you don't do it then the enemy will do it and have advantage.
It will also reveal invisible wards and for a short period of time. Make sure you destroy the enemy wards on time so you have more success with ganking. The top one you can reveal top or mid. The bottom one you can reveal mid, bot and the dragon pit if there are any wards.
Everyone can see on the mini map that you destroyed it. It can work as a deterrent as the enemies will know you are nearby but it can also scare them away if you want to gank so choose wisely when and which direction you will use it.

Blast Cone
  • Jump to jungle camps
  • Escape from enemies
Use this to get faster to jungle camps and dragon pit or to escape from enemies by blasting over the wall.

Honeyfruit
  • Replenish health
  • Replenish mana
Often useful when you are traveling between jungles and you need to replenish some health and mana.

All the goodies can be seen on the mini-map if they have respawned.

Patch Notes

Patch 7.8
Nothing that affects Warwick

Patch 7.7
Raptors health increased but they do less damage, this lets Warwick clear the camp with more health

Patch 7.6
Warlord's Bloodlust
SUSTAIN BONUS Grants 1-50% lifesteal (at levels 1-18) ⇒ Restores health equal to 3-40% total attack damage (at levels 1-18)
CRITICAL HEAL If the attack that procs Warlord’s Bloodlust critically strikes, the heal crits as well (further increased by crit damage modifiers, ex. Infinity Edge)
--
This is basically a nerf if you use this on Warwick.
