I don't normally like to downvote guides which people have put a lot of work into. But downvoted this one because:
  • This is very out-dated - the last update was more than 6 months ago, and the majority of the guide was written more than 12 months ago (the December 2015 update was only minor). Therefore it should not be the top-ranked Jax guide on Mobafire, which until my vote it was! The 5 earlier votes giving it 100% mostly date from early 2015.
  • Some of the discussed items (boots enchantment and Runeglaive jungle enchantment) have been removed from the game completely, and many things have been changed in the Patch 6.9 mid-season patch and the Patch 6.10 re-balance.
  • The build does not take nearly enough attack damage - none of the suggested items is a high attack damage item. It's not a good build for Jax.
  • The guide layout - especially for items - is really ugly, compressed and cluttered.
  • The guide seems incomplete, with no real discussion of abilities, combos, strategy or tips and tricks.

I will change my vote if the guide is updated, the build improves and the guide formatting improves.

Suggestions for the AP Jax build:
1) I believe the AP marks should be replaced with attack speed marks or magic pen/hybrid pen
2) The Glyphs are ok although you could use Scaling CDR or 6 Flat CDR with some magic resist so it would leave you better options for items as well as taking 4 points in sorcery in masteries
3) Maybe suggest a lot more AP items because Jax can basically utilize every single one in the game

As for the AD build:
1) I don't find going warrior into tank a really good option honestly, Although I understand you want the CDR and everything I believe full out AD works much better than a mixed build!
2)21/9/0 masteries are the better way to go because Jax uses this set up much better due to him being a damage dealer, carry jungler.
3) Needs more damage options

And as for the Sightstone I believe it is a decent choice on Jax in the first place but i believe it takes over an important item slot since Jax is a very item dependent champion.. I suggest building the Warding Totem upgrade rather than Sweeper !!

Overall a pretty good guide but in my opinion as a Jax main I believe it needs some touching up on. At the end of the day follow what you believe works, but just be smart about it! Try out CDR glyphs you will not regret them my friend!! It lets you expand a CDR build much more :)

Thanks for the advice!

your setup on the offensive tree doesn't work, because "material mastery" requires 3 points in "brute force" -> the masteries setup is wrong, please correct :)

Thanks man, I forgot that :D

hey bro nice guide i love playing jax Jg.

Just a quick suggestion, Jax can do a full jg clear with over 75% health remaining.

The trick is to start golems and smite.

Then go straight to raptors. the trick to the raptors is to hit a small raptor twice before activating E once you have done that the small raptor should have 1 or 2 bars of health left. Ignore that raptor and start attacking another small rapto. You should have enough time to auto attack that second raptor twice, by then your e will finish, killings the 2 small raptors. Then you focus down the small raptor. The last raptor will be easy due to the stunning buff you recieved from the golems.

Then you switch over to red buff finishing it off with smite when it comes up. the health you recieved will get your hp to about 50%

You will then be lvl 3 with high enough health to take scuttle or gank.
(the scuttle will give you close to full HP)

Either gank or finish off your Jg, you still have 2 pots for sustain, so after you do a full clear you have enough health to do a second raptors and glems

I usually pressure ganks straight after the full clear, before i do the extra 2 camps, because i try to get the devouerer enchantment on the first back.

Most people believe that Jax is bad early game but he is one of the few champions that can take raptors at lvl 1 because his E is so OP in the jg, Just depends on how you use it.

Not sure if you already new that but yet, If you didnt and dont believe me just give it a go. Im not really the best Jax jg player but ive seen him played by others in the Jg and i just dont understand why they would choose to not do a full clear.

Thanks Randummonkey for that catch, lol. I usually dont build much health on Jax besides Sightstone or Black Cleaver, as I play Jax more as a burst assasin-type guy, as ganking usually is not prolonged and does not usually have duels, but health does work wonders on Jax and you can build Enchantment: Juggernaut to be a good tanky jungler.

I've only recently thought about Jax so I came to read some guides about him. I think that this guide is pretty good but I agree with the comment above in that scaling health runes would be a good idea, especially with a core high armor item. As someone who likes to play a lot of tanks, wouldn't making Frozen Heart core on Jax make a health item a must after? I haven't done any real math, but Jax only has a mediocre max health at lvl 18 (about 2000 health compared to 2200-2300 of a lot of current junglers).

Armor is great, but without health I don't think you're going to maximize its benefits unless you rush a black cleaver or spirit visage right after finishing it. But I don't have much experience with Jax so maybe there's something in Jax's kit/playstyle that I'm not seeing.

I like this guide but I think that including more explanations for items and item synergy would make it even better (I hope it's not asking for too much, lol).

Also, I'm impressed that you already updated it for the Runeglaive patch but you wrote patch 6.12 instead of 5.12 so you might want to change that...

Alright I am a Jax main and can confirm cdr is SO underrated on this guy! I run a completely different set up in order to reach 40% cdr upon reaching lvl 18. So what you run is scaling cooldown reduction glyphs, scaling health seals, attack speed marks and quints. 21/9/0 in masteries (make sure to take 4 points in the cdr mastery). Then all you have to build for a cdr item is a Frozen Heart, which is pretty core to the build considering Triforce is going to be better than black cleaver on jax in most cases. The basic Item build would look something like this: Cinderhulk or Devourer (Cinderhulk works better, synergizes with the scaling hp seals, would probably take different seals with devourer or the same),Mercs Treads (because cc is jax's worst enemy) Triforce (can't stress howc ore this is on Jax), Frozen Heart, Banshees Veil, then you have the option depending on what you need for the team botrk to shread heavy hp tanks/sticking, hextech gunblade for more burst, or warmogs for more tankiness! Oh and don't forget warding totem trinket upgrade ;)
