Introduction

This is a detailed Thresh Guide for Season 7. My current summoner name is TiMiDz and I'm currently Gold (Platinum soon). I currently have over 750k Mastery Points on Thresh, and I think it's safe to say that I know some things about Thresh that can be passed down to future Thresh players.

Runes

For runes, most Thresh mains take 9 Attack Damage Marks, 9 Health Seals, 9 Magic Resist Glyphs, and 3 Armor Quints. I like to take Attack marks for the early cheese, the Attack marks can easily poke down champions early game who are squishy, since the ADC doesn't build armor, the Attack Marks are essential to early game.

Masteries

I prefer to take Thunderlords Decree rather than Courage of the Colossus. The first reason being you are able to have 45% Cool Down Reduction by the end of your build. Courage of the Colossus has been significantly nerfed, to where Thunderlords would be a better choice for Thresh. Thunderlords will help you poke the enemy laners and help you with your Level 2 engage.

Items

Don't listen to what the recommended build is on Thresh. In the game, it tells you to rush Face Of The Mountain as your Core Build. Every support main can agree that Face of The Mountain is trash when rushed. For my Core Build I like to build Sightstone and Mobility Boots, Sightstone will prevent us from being ganked and stop from the enemy laners from getting ahead. Sell your Trinket once you have your Sightstone, you can only place up to 3 wards at a time, so it is better to get Sweeping Lens to clear wards for future ganks. I like to build Mobility Boots to roam Mid Lane or to get in deep wards inside the Enemy Jungle. After my Core Build, I like to start building Cooldown Reduction (Kindlegem, Glacial Shroud, and Forbidden Idol). I find it weird that people would want full tank on Thresh, it is better to have a 2-second hook rather than just tank up some damage. For my final build: Frozen Heart, Redemption, Mobility Boots, Face of The Mountain, Knights Vow, Ruby Sightstone, and Oracle Lens

Skill Sequence

Maxing Q and W first is more important than maxing E. Maxing Q and W will lower the Cooldown on the two abilities. Maxing E will just increase the slow and mana cost. Catching out enemies faster is more important than having a better slow. Only max E if you are not confident in landing your Q.

Spells

Since Exhaust has been nerfed greatly, Ignite is the better summoner spell for early cheese and Grievous Wounds ( can prevent from ADC from healing a lot )

Pros / Cons

Pros: Thresh is a Jack of All Trades, he can Engage, Disengage, and Peel
Tons of CC can catch out champions with ease
Has a lantern that can reposition Carries
Flay can cancel lots of abilities such as Corki W, Tristana W, Talon E, etc.
Ultimate and Passive from Flay can deal tons of Damage

Cons: Requires its user to be mechanical
Hook has a delay

Team Work

Try to peel your carries as much as you can
You can try to Q+FlashBackwards+Lantern+Q to gain distance on your W
When trying to Lantern your ADC, place the lantern in front of them, not on top of them ( it is going to be harder for them to click on it )
Be sure you ward a lot after you have just bought your Sightstone, it is possible to ward the whole river.
Make sure you always buy Control Wards ( if you have enough space in your inventory ).

Unique Skills

- Learn about your opponents' habits, use the first hook as a test to see where they juke. They will keep repeating that same pattern or they will fix it. Players will react to your Hook at certain situations if they are close to their tower they will walk backward a lot, or dash to the side. If you lantern your Jungler, while the enemy ADC is running they will flash once you have thrown your hook.
- In late game try to catch out enemies with your Hook and Lantern and try to peel your teammates late game so they can continue to deal a ton of damage.

Farming

To farm with Relic Shield, try to last hit minions. It is harder for Thresh to Proc his Relic Shield because he is ranged instead of melee. Be sure to always notify your ADC you want the cannon minion
