Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
So onto the build, this build is designed to make shen ALL tank and nothing else.
you can choose ghost, exhaust, flash, or Teleport.
i reccomend always having exhaust because it is ideal for chasing, and allowing more time for shen to get a few extrat hits in, this makes up for shen's poor dps and damage output
Runes and masteries
your first point, should go into vorpal blade, because it is good for harrasing right in the beginning and also for last-hitting minions. Then after you level up, go straight for shadow dash. This skill can intiate battles and can help you and your teamates get some kills early game. Then you learn feint. This skill is an extremely important skill because this, combined with shadow dash will allow you to absorb tons of incoming damage and also to kill your opponents. Hit E,W,Q, than attack, attack, attack. Use this combo for intiating ganks. BUT if you are fighting an enemy alone, start of with vorpal blade, than when the enemy realizes they can't kill you and start rnning away, use your E,W combo to chase and absorb damage for the kill.(The reason you start with your Q, is because you need to save your energy for the shadow dash and feint in case they start running away which they will probably do, in a team fight, your teamates can do the chasing for you, and that is why you start with E, in a team gank.) Your ult is extremely useful, this is where map awareness comes in, always know what your teamates are doing and where they are doing it at. choose carefully when to use your ult, don't use it when your teamate is too low health or you won't make it in time, and you have just ended up wasting your ult which has a 180 sec cooldown. (with one point)You ult can save many lives and you will end up making the enemy run away instead of your teamate being the one to flee. For ex.(enemy's reaction), OMG SHEN JUST PORTED IN, AND NOW ITS A 2V1 WTH DO I DO! (flee, flee, flee)
for items, i usually start of with boots of speed and 3 health pots for the durability in your lane. Then when you have enough gold, head for either ninja tabi or mercury's treads, depending on who you are fighting. ALthough i would reccomend ninja tabi to make good use of your dodge runes and masteries. Then go for frozen hammer after more gold is obtained. THis is extremely useful for the slow and extra health. After that go for either sunfire cape or force of nature, once again depending on who you are fighting. But make sure you are going to get at least one sunfire cape. AFter that, you can pretty much go for whatever item you choose. Randuin's omen is a good item that i usually buy after the core items.Or a warmog's armor is good too for late game.
