Interesting choice of items, I shall give this build a try.

well i ussualy go the tank way but its so borring that i had to try something new the ap shen is good in 3 vs 3 just won a game 4 1 8 managed to almost get rage blade but i alrdy know what i would see dead people ^^, but i must say sexy ap shen, and for that i give ya thumbs up, but i dont like tabi on shen so i went sorc boots/ or swifty boots would be better, i had sorc went great

I love playing AP Shen. I went 17-3-9 in a recent match (granted, it was practice, but so what?) and I was having a giggling fit the whole time, which was only worsened when I realized our Fiddles had been jungling the whole match. I didn't use your build, but instead tried crafting one of my own. Maybe I'll post it up once I work out all the kinks.

I'm not a build-maker, per say, but although that the Crystal Scepter is a major item in any AP/caster build, I don't see this as a very viable point for Shen. He is 3/4 support skills (feint, taunt, and tele), which tele and feint wouldnt slow the enemy, and wouldn't the taunt slow for the duration taunt, and then after the taunt was over and they have full movement speed again? The Vorpal Blade would slow, but Vorpal Blade comes back approximatly every 2-3 seconds, so it would be slightly hard to keep up a constant slow. I think if you were going to do AP Shen, (Which i don't reccomend, I have yet to be out-Shen-ed with a tank build) you should use something that would give you a more efficent AP boost. Plus, the Scepter is a lot of gold, especially that early game. I think you'd fall behind pretty quickly unless you farmed for a full 10 minutes inturruped. I'm not saying this build is bad, I have yet to try it, but can you please explain your reasoning for the Scepter in more detail than stated in the build?

Sorry to necro... but ever since Shen USE to be listed as mage I always thought... why?
I could see AP Shen being alright if you stacked rlyai's, as it boosts your ki strike, allows you to support better and gives you alot of AP, but that is from alot of farming before you get 3+, boots, zhonyas, and probably a haunting guise to help out mid game

This is a very nice ap build for shen something thats very unique and well thought out people underestimate this build i too have played this build and o.o THEY FEAR MY SHEN OF THE AP BUWHAHAHAHA dude if you come out with more unique ways of playing chars then I'll be glad to play all of them and TOGETHER WE WILL DOMINATE THE LEAGUE OF LEGENDS MUWHAHAHAHa

Don't see why so many people are downrating this, this is a pretty sick-*** build if you can play it correctly, pretty much guarantees you first blood, and gives an insane amount of damage absorbed off the ult.

Nice build, I think that most people here miss the fact that with AP your vorpal blade becomes ownage because of massive health regen + spammable damage so this build will never die if it keeps fighting, and the rest of the team will do the same.
