The Idea of this build is to create a character that can hold your enemies attention while your team mops them up. As a tank, being able to initiate and survive is key. Pairing up with characters that have strong AoE skills really helps. The first big item you will want to focus on is the Warmog's armor so start by getting the Regen pendant. This item combined with your vorpal blade will give you some serious staying power in the lane. In the early levels Shen is an absolute beast, so don't be afraid to take the fight to your enemies. Harrass constantly with the vorpal blade, and try to time your Ki strike against low health enemies for last hit, or a hero when they stray too close. Once you finish Warmog's, finish your Mercury treads and move straight on to the Aegis. This will provide your entire group with some extra defenses, making your job of keeping them alive easier. After that Randuin's Omen is a very helpful items, allowing you to slow with your taunt, and pop the AE slow when it wears off. The last two items of the build are really dependant on how your game is going. If your game is loaded with more casters, items like Force of Nature will ruin their day. If you really need more damage output, Atma's will work well with your High HP. Honestly if it gets to the point where you are maxing out your items you should know what you and your team needs.
