Welcome to my first guide in MOBAFIRE!!! I am George Ananas, a currenly unranked (by choice xD) member of the EUNE server!! I have studied most of the guides here in MOBAFIRE, but I haven't yet made a guide of my own, even though I play League since the first season...So, here I am, making a guide for SHEN jungle, a most unorthodox choice by many, but bare with me and you might change your mind about it (or you just want to try something different, like me) !! ;) it is an off-meta pick (since tank junglers are lacking damage) but opens up possibilities for having a three-threats team comp while your support and you going for tank and peel to keep everyone safe, while they deal all the damage in the world...
Since this is my first Guide, I know it is not perfect, but please leave a comment for suggestions to alternative builds/runes/masteries and maybe even a tip for the guide in general....THANK YOU and hope that you enjoy reading and playing with SHEN in the jungle!!! ;P

Pros:

- Super Tank with a shield and sustain
- Hard cc that can be used as a jump throw walls as well
- Can peel pretty effectively
- Map Presence in the form of his ulti, which shields the ally as well!
- Pretty healthy in the first clear

Cons:

- Lacks damage (damage output, non-existant/non-relevant (especially late game)
- You gonna be flamed for picking shen as a jungler (and not as a top/support)
- Has some very hard match-ups that requires him to play passive/defensively most of the time (or counter-react to them)
- Requires good team synergy or at least good team communication
- Not the best at securing objectives (through an extra execute other than Smite ofc..)

Haven't tried it at ranked (mostly because I am waiting for the season 6 to begin), but I am imagining that he can be good in the right team comp (three-threats team comp), can be unexpected and also quite frustrating playing against him.....needs practise though and good team communication/synergy, so it may not be as effective in lower ranked divisions like bronze/silver....but definitely is fun to play ^_^

SO you want to start with Krugs (SMITE at the start...) hopefully with a teammate helping you a bit at the start <3 -> head to Raptors (kill the small ones first, they deal the most damage :P ) -> either you take the scuttle on the riverside for a bit of extra health/sustain or you go straight to the red buff and you smite it when you need your health ;P
Afterwards either you gank if healthy, or you go back, purchase the items suggested above and you go to the Gromp (smite it) or Wolves(if you are afraid of counter-jungling, Smite the big Wolf) -> Blue buff next and afterwards see if any ganks are available to the closest lane (mid or top/bot, otherwise KEEP FARMING THE JUNGLE to reach your late game TANK potential!!!

SO, in the early game guess what??!!! you farm and farm like everyone should be doing.....only gank when you know that the enemy has overextended and you can get a flash off of him...
otherwise....Farm the jungle till you reach that important lvl 6 and then communicate with teammates to make a play ;P

By now you will probably have finished your cinderhulk and your boots...ward the basic objectives like Herald and Dragon (mostly Dragon) and look for gank opportunities (or teammates saves if they are in trouble) and FARM FARM FARM... if skirmishes happen, take the safest route to your carries in threat and peel for them...or if your team caught someone out, flash-taunt to secure the kill for your carries (make sure you donate the kill if possible)...make your way to your items by farming, but dont forget to gank a bit to get your lanes a lead/get them ahead.... Sightstone is ESSENTIAL (or trackers knife, as shown in the items section)

You have successfully reached late game, and your tank prowess is here to stay.....you probably have finished most of your items by now, so you do what you were meant to be doing...peel, engage (as a second engage, which is preferable) and try to keep your carries safe with making the enemies' lives difficult from reaching them.... Taunt smart (focus the threats to your carries or the biggest threat in the oppossing team), Q for the damage and W for the shield WHEN THEY ARE UP AND AVAILABLE TO YOU and let your team carry you to victory....as soon as you do your job on protecting them, your carries are going to win the game for you :)

To sum up, this is a MOBAFIRE guide to Jungle Shen (Tank)..... although it is an off-meta pick, jungle tank SHEN offers peel and bulkiness to make a difference in a teammfight by keeping your team safe and making the lives of your enemies difficult.... give this guide and jungle Shen a chance, and you might be surprised by what brings to a team comp and how fun you will be having playing with him (and seeing the enemies raging :3 ) Thank you very much for taking the time to read this guide, and hope to see you around ^_^
