It doesn't scale with AP in human form but it does in Dragon form. And it doesn't scale as much but that's not even the entire point of Burnout AP increase.

Guinsoo's Rageblade is a waste, but Hextech Gunblade is by far not a waste. If you like reading, then head over to my guide and read my explanations. You obviously do not know what you're talking about.

Please take a look at my own Shyvana guide, Jungle & Solo Drake., I'd really appreciate some feedback!
If I helped you, please +rep me!

I did read your guide dude, I even up-voted it remember? But still, Hextech Gunblade does not pay it's price. It doesn't because Shyvana has little use for the AP and the spell-vamp is about as useless as it gets. The only thing noteworthy about it is the AD and the life-steal, which you get much more from Bloodthirstier. Anyhow, in my recent reevaluation, I kicked even that from my Shyvana build. I decided to go with Stark's Fervor, many think it's an item suited only for carries, but, like I said before, you can never have enough attack speed on Shyvana. To make up for the lost AD, I decided to give up the wonderful Sunfire Cape and replace it with Atma's Impaler, since I thought it was a shame to not take advantage of the very useful effect that it has since I build Shyvana so pumped up on HP. To make up for this I gave up even Frozen Mallet and went for Warmog's. Of course, I missed the slowing effect, so I had to improvise and the only thing I could think of was exchanging Black Cleaver for Trinity Force. This is how I obtained a build with more ATS, a lot more health, bigger movement speed, a little AP, another slowing on-hit effect, awesome burst damage from Trinity Force passive and, what I didn't have at all before, 32% critical strike chance(nice bonus). Sure, this version of the build is a little more expensive(only about 290 gold more, which is really nothing) and I lose some AD compared to the other, but it's completely worth it when I think of the bonuses. This is proof that you can have a very good build without that expensive, worthless trinket that is Hextech Gunblade(you don't need spell-vamp when you have over 4k HP, almost 2 ATS and 20% life-steal), too bad AoE spells only proc 1/3 of the spell-vamp, otherwise people would buy Hextech even on Garen :-p, until the day Riot will change this in a game-patch(probably never, ever in a million years), I'll always say that Hextech should only be used on guys with awesome burst damage like Akali or Jax(Kayle too but for another reason).

P.S. I posted this to show how there's always room for improvement, I used to think that I found the perfect build for Shyvana, but I examined my games and I realized I wasn't happy with her attack speed, nor with her overall damage and so I came up with this and now I realize it's much much better. You should do the same, analyze you're games carefully and see if that puny spell-vamp is worth the overinflated price that that thing has.

I love this guide so much--specifically, the jungling build. When I jungle as Shyvana, I end up going legendary in 9 out of 10 games. I only tried one game with the laning build and it didn't go as great. I find that with the jungle build, including masteries, I can play very aggressively. Using this guide, I haven't gone a single game with a negative score. Even so, I still haven't figured out how to lane with her; the only time this was a problem was when a Nocturne on my team didn't see that I had smite, and neither of us called jungling beforehand, so he insisted that he jungle and I had to solo top. We surrendered at 20.

Needless to say, wonderful guide. c:

I found that wriggles merc treads wits and tri force are must.
But the next I get and best defensive item on her imho is GA. It grants overall great defesive stats on both mr/armor just like her ult.makes her really unkillable and u really dont wana fight a dragon twice :p.....

AP runs on all her abilities except Twin Bite. Learn your champion ;P

Yeah...My bad. But still, I run an AD/AS/Crit Shyvana with a little tanking ability. This build works best for me. I just can't seem to find the balance between AD and AP for Shyvana so I just build AD, which works really well with armor penetration. :)

amazing build. I know flash is a very useful tool, but I tried exhaust with surge the other day and i feel that it was a very good option. I noticed its not mentioned in your build. You should try it out. :)

I feel surge has made a big difference when fighting. that extra attack speed really helps and you get AP too.

What I usually do is use surge just before ulting, makes the use of the AP.

Your mastery description says you take Weapons Expertise for the 10% ArP, but that isn't shown on your actual visual mastery page, could use a quick fix, no big deal though.
Also, your Flame Breath benefits from attack speed as well, since every single strike against a target debuffed by it will deal 20% of the abilities total damage.

EDIT: @Fictionized: Oh u troller u.. get outta here, Burnout does not Ever scale with AP.
Also, while Madred's Bloodrazor does reach it's full potential when enemies stack health, this does not mean that is the only time you should buy it. Madred's gives stats that are in perfect synergy with Shyvana as a hero. Damage, attack speed, armor for those poor melees shoved around in the middle of teamfights, and an onhit effect that gives her Twin Bite an instant Jarvan passive added to it, dealing 8% of the enemies total health. Lets do math guys! <3
2000 hp target with 50 magic resistance takes 44% less magic damage. 2000*.08=160 160*.66=105.6, round to 106 extra magic damage, is very potent in combination with the items other stats. Same idea with Trinity Force, the stats and onhit effect in conjunction with Twin Bite make it very worth-while, and while it's passive only offers a 25% slow chance, that becomes 50% when Twin Bite is used, not to mention your (should be) formidable attack speed. Try the two together and outburst the AP carries w/out even critting ^^
