Background of Skarner
Centuries ago, there lived a race of creatures as ferocious as they were wise. The brackern were unusual beings blessed with the earth's primal magic, embodied in the form of crystals. Their kind knew of an arcane ritual to bind their life's essence to a crystal, communing with the magic embedded in it. With this power, the brackern thrived in the Odyn Valley, protecting both creatures and crystals alike. Despite attacks from those looking to claim the primal magic, it seemed that nothing could get past the brackern's defenses. Nothing, that is, until the devastation of a Rune War.
A vicious battle was fought near the Odyn Valley and the unleashed chaotic magic poisoned the crystals. The brackern began to grow sick and die, and no amount of defensive magic could reverse the effects. To avoid extinction, their only course was to hibernate underground until the wars stopped. The strongest, most intelligent brackern hibernated closer to the surface to awaken first and assess the world's condition for the return of their race. The recent mining operations and violent escalation in Kalamanda were enough to awaken the first of these vanguards. When Skarner burst to the surface, he lashed out in anger and confusion. Reason eventually won out over his anger when he realized that the agents of the League who found him were simply functionaries. Skarner was invited to the Institute of War to share the brackern's story. In return, the summoners told him about the history that his kind had slept through. Much had been done to curb the unchecked use of magic since the Rune Wars, but it was obvious that the world was not yet safe for his kind to reawaken. For now, however, there is a place where Skarner can use his power to change the world into one to which his kind could eventually return: the League of Legends.

Okay SO I will Admit skarner is pretty UP a bit atm but he isn't that bad that he does no damage or anything he can just be focused down easily unless you build him as a tank and with only 2 cc's and you have the highest base attack damage in the game next to cho'gath why not go into that the 3 builds here can all replace Exhaust for smite and you can jungle with all these
Build 1- Tanky Hybrid
It is my favorite build at the moment
This build is Just tried this build a few games this build gives you that tanky dps feeling and lets you survive a bit longer also with spirit visage you get healed a lot more from your e then you normaly would hybrid AP/AD it is probably the most enjoyable one because everything you have does damange and you don't think well ahh my auto attacks suck or my Spells do like nothing.
Build 2-Ability power
This is an All out AP build that will make your Ebe a nuke your Wgive you and awesome shield if your playing this style try playing more like kassadin don't walk in first get focused and die, your a scorpion wait till the right moment grab that ashe into a bush and rape the **** out of her.
Build 3-Attack Damage
AD SKARNER IS A LOT WEAKER THEN THE OTHER STYLES, YOU CAN PLAY HIM THIS WAY BUT YOUR MISSING OUT A LOT
This is all Out Attack damage build your auto attacks hurt but all your spells are lacking and since you can't even auto attack an enemy in your ultimate i think this build is pretty much useless but it has it's strong points, (FIXED) Your Crystal slash is your only AD ratio, and it also adds a slow when it is charged with magical damage, the reason I feel AD is lacking because if you went hybrid or full AP you could get a longer benefit from your W and your E can hit pretty hard
Build 4-Hybrid Jungle
hybrid AP/AD it is probably the most enjoyable one because everything you have does damange and you don't think well ahh my auto attacks suck or my Spells do like nothing.
Also sell wriggles for the hextech when you get far enough in the build
Sheenvs MadredsVs Philostone
YOU CAN JUNGLE WITH ALL THESE ITEMS AT START THEN CONTINUE ON WITH THE BUILD
Okay most people are like WTF jungle with sheen, yes it can be done because he is a jungler Pretty much by the time you got sheen your nuking down creeps with your E and healing a decent amount.
Madred's is a pretty good item then you can turn it into bloodrazor later on and the random 500 damage is good, you don't need wriggles
Philo stone is a good way to jungle it also is a gold p5 item and keeps your mana up it's a good item start a regrowth pendant and mana pot
All the runes pretty much vary on what build like in the AP build yeah you want magic pen, and in the AD you want Armor Pen
Helps with jungling a lot by going through the creeps armor
This is better if your laning as AP skarner increase your magic penetration so you do more damage :D
pretty much helps taking down creeps in the jungle but through dmg vs penetration
lets YOU take less damage from creeps auto attacks so you have more health
does the same thing as Armor but you won't take any damage if you get hit but this is also the more expensive soloution
Magic resist YAY!!!!!! it just helps you take less damage from magical attacks like Dragon's dot or enemy champions
helps out jungling by increasing your attack speed yesssss
gives you more health so you have more hp to get hit at and stay in jungle a bit longer
Magic pentration is great on AP skarner
good for jungling, and AD skarner :D
Same as runes, it really depends on the Build you are doing
Is great for jungling or if you happen to get a monster buff :D
More attack speed is always good on our loved scorpion
if your gonna jungle get this to lower the CD on your smite
if you took exhaust spec into this also since it lets your exhaust be better by reducing your targets defensiveness stat's and lasting longer
good if your taking ghost over flash
helps pretty greatly to get that extra XP that you may fall behind on I think every jungler should take this or laning because it just helps to not find behind and expanded mindonly works on it's base mana
Their are so many items in all these builds and i'm soo lazy :/
Okay sheen is an awesome item on him should always be in your build
your boots depends on the build for AD and hybrid i went berskers because you will be meleeing out of will but for AP i went boots of swiftness because you want to run in nuke proc lichbane and be able to reposition yourself don't play like a vayne and go bam bam bam pentaaaaaa :D
Also if you seem to get focused on first ( cause people are like AHHHH NEW CHAMPION KILL)
just grab ait makes people want to focus you less and gives some nice defence
All these items work wonder's on our 8 legged friend
This is a great item on everybody and it is a great item on skarner with his low CD he can proc it's ability constantly ( it has a CD so ever spell won't proc trinty's sheen ability)
good items on any hybrid champion, it gives you a long range slow, life steal, attack damage,ability power and spell vamp!!!
although not in all my builds this item is great 50% mmore attack speed and with the CDR, mana regain, ability power just an awesome item on him
awesome with high ability power you spell proc its effect then you deal damage on your next melee based on your ability power
Rylai's Crystal scepter
well its has crystal in it name so you get it.
well that's not the only reason your like well my Qslows and Trinityhas a chance to slow why do I need this? well both of those ways to slow you need to be in melee distance and this thing lets your Eand Rslow also, gives you nice chunk of health and ability power
This thing stays at 8 stacks because of your passive whenever you melee you proc this thing is made for skarner, AD, AP and Attack speed ohh if only it gave you health
All these boots have some good and bad things about them.
Mercury's TreadsThese boots give you +2 enhanced movement, they give you tenacity that lowers CC effects on you and they give you an okay amount of Magic resist, these are my favorite boots because tenacity i think someone should at least try to get it at some point in the game, and they just help you work towards that tanky DPS style
Boots of SwiftnessThese boots give you more movement speed out of all the 4 you see, and it just helps out so much with your Crystalline exoskeletonyou move so much faster and with ghost plus your ultimateyour will truly get a nice amount of distance, and this pretty much makes you unreachable unless you got slowed where you would have wished you had some tenacity
Berserker's GreeevesMost people are like hey, more attack speed is good so I can proc my passive more, that is true but choosing the right boots really determines how you will do in the game, if your team has a nice amount of CC these are good boots to grab and helps you out a lot early game
Sorcerer's shoesThis is great for the full AP build it gives you 20 magic penetration and with the magic penetration runes you will have 35 magic penetration if you get this early enough that will let you destroy squishies that have only 15 or so Magic resist at the low levels, it is a good item for your spells, but the same as the berserker's you don't want to be squishy or caught-able get it if your team has a decent amount of CC so if in a team fight you don't have to be worried about being focused to much

Crystal SlashThis ability is pretty spamable after you get enough Attack speed and it gives a nice slow but that's what i think it was really ment for not for damage because if you go All out AD you hit Q you melee it's up again but then your next Q will be based of you AP since it is charged
Crystalline ExoskeletonThis ability gives you some nice movement speed and attack speed but when the shield is gone you lose the buff this is the reason i'm kind of siding toward more AP also because as pure AD you won't get the benifit from this spell that much if your getting focused
FractureThis ability is a skil shot with decent range that marks the enemies so that if you do DAMAGE to them you get heal but it does 50% less for each mark eaten so unless you have a lot of Ability power or a spirit visage it won't really shine that great but still an awesome nuke
IMPALE!This scorpion's ultimate were you select and opponent you surpress him and can move him for 1.5 seconds I really think it's lame you can't auto attack in this state, a bit more why I feel he is stronger as an AP champion, great ultimate with nice damage it could be buffed to last a bit longer or at least let you auto attack
Flashi chose for the hybrid because i think that is the best build to jungle as and if your about to get counter jungled a quick flash saves you
exhaustlets you tag that last guy so you can ulty and pull him into your team
ghosti feel is better cause of it's shorter CD and if you proc ghost and your w then you ultyou get some distance in the 1.5 sec pull
Don't go in first Idk why riot says he is a tanky dps i've tried going Attack item, boots, attack item, warmogs, atma's banshee it just doesn't work....
wait till the right moment i think his team fight style is like nocturne or poppy just wait for that right moment and go!
Creeping / Jungling
Jungle route 1Sheen
this is stonewall's route it works with sheen and yeah heres the video :D
Jungle route 2 Madred's RazorSkill Sequence
1. Start withand 5x2. go to Blue buff, leash is appreciated, fight the golem and spam your Crystal slash on him till 460 then smite
3.pick Fracture as your next ability go to wolves shoot them with Fracture then hit them with Crystal slash, when big wolf is down just melee the lil wolves don't spam
4. go to wraiths shoot with fracture, then use crystal slash twice back up and shoot Fracture when they are all pretty low hp
5. Go to duo golems Fracture and crystal slash them, you level take Fracture
6. Okay red buff shoot with fracture, if you ganked blue buff may be low so care, crystal slash smite and Good job you cleared the jungle go back and get madred's and maybe boots if your gank was good
here is a video of me jungling this route in a real game Jungle route 3Philosopher's Stone1.Get 1and 12. go to Duo Golems take Fracturefirst, fracture them smite a golem and just kill them
3. Go to wraiths take Crystal slash,Fractureto intiate attack the big wraith then when their all low hp from Crystal slashback up and Fracture to shoot them all down
4.Go to wolves Fractureonce and just melee them to death
5. if you have to low mana go back get a philo stone then clear the rest of the jungle
6. get blue buff
8 Cleared :D
