This is my first guide, this is also the way that I build Jax as for me it works really well. I make no promises that this build will work amazingly for you, but for me it works. Please leave comments on ways to make it better.
Somethings to remember when Using Jax
Though you may think it, you are NOT invincible.
Grass is your friend
Empower is VERY useful
Can quickly dispose of a champion or two if you have the element of surprise
Can run into issues when fighting a casters as closing in the gap may be hard.
When you start off buy the Cloth Armor, the extra bit of armor helps out quite a bit.
From there buy the Ninja Tabi Boots, I use these for the dodge Bonus.

Enhanced movement speed 2
The increased dodge is nice as it will open up more times to use counter strike & will keep you from getting hit as often.

35 Attack Damage
45 Ability Power
On attack or spellcast, increases your attack speed by 4% & ability power by 6. Lasts 5 seconds (stacks up to eight time)
The extra attack damage here is nice, the ability power boost is also good since it will help raise the power of Jax's Ult, which adds 70% of his ability power to every third strike. It also helps by increasing the attack of Jax's other abilities. But the reason I buy this item is it's passive skill, since it increases your attack speed by 4& & your ability power by 6 & stacks up to 8 times, what this means is that it will seriously **** **** up. With a full 8 stacks you have a 32% attack speed increase & a 48 ability power increase, add this on top of Jax's ult & work gets done.

15% Movement Speed
The attack speed bonus is really nice & helps out quite a bit, the real objective is to speed it up to get the three hits for the nice 3rd hit for Jax's Ult. The Critical Strike bonus is nice & helpful to land another strong hit. The movement speed is just a nice little bonus.

40 Attack Speed
Passive: On hit, deals magic damage equal to 4% of the target's maximum health.
The 25 armor is nice as it helps with Jax's defense. The 40% attack speed yet again helps with landing a few more attacks in. The 30 attack is nice as it helps pack an extra punch. The Passive, the reason I use this item. It helps hit, HARD. Add in the Passive with the other items & Jax's abilities & work gets done.
100 Attack Damage
25% Life Steal
Passive: Gain an additional 1 physical Damage & 0.25% Lifesteal per kill. Maximum of +40 Physical Damage & 10% lifesteal.
The 100 Attack Damage should be enough to help take most champions down, The lifesteal is nice as your stealing some of their health to benefit yourself. With the passive I suggest fighting a few sets of creeps to build up the stacks, that extra 40 Damage & 10% lifesteal can really help.
50% Attack Speed
55 Ability Power
10 Mana Per 5 Sec
Passive: Reduces ability cooldowns by 25%
This is the last bit of Attack Speed, by now you should be close to the max Attack Speed. Another little bit of Ability Power to help with Jax's abilities. The little bit of CoolDown reduction is nice as it helps Jax throw out Leap Strike, Empower, & Counter Strike.
18 Critical Strike
Passive: Physical attacks deal an additional 2% of your max health in damage.
The Reason: The main reason I choose to use Atma's Impaler is for the 18 Critical Strike & the 45 armor. The passive is nice, it doesn't really do to much due to Jax not having a ridiculous amount of health but it helps.
Personally I use Teleport and Flash.
Skills I Use
Teleport: The reason I use Teleport is for getting back to the action quicker, or if I need to join in with the rest of my comrades in the enemy base.
Flash: I use Flash to help me get into the fray quickly or to make a quick escape. Flash has saved me numerous times.
Exhaust: I like to use Exhaust on occasion to help slow an enemy down if I'm trying to get in another hit or if I'm trying to slow them while I get out of the fray.
Cleanse: This is nice to use if your caught in a freeze or a slow.
Ghost: Works nice if you gotta make a quick exit.
Greater Mark of Alacrity:
+ 1.7% Attack Speed
Reason: The extra attack speed is nice in the beginning & can be helpful late game.
Greater Seal of Evasion:
+ 0.75% Dodge
Reason: The Dodge is very nice, it gives you less of a chance of getting tagged.
Greater Glyph of Alacrity:
+0.64% Attack Speed
Reason: Like I said above about the attack speed, it can be the difference of winning a fight or losing.
Greater Quintessence of Evasion
Reason: Dodge is important when using Jax as its the only way of using Counterstrike, & the fact that dodging an enemy champions hit & landing one of you own, or since your using this build like me, you may land 2 or 3 hits before your opponent.
Jax's prowess with weapons and armor increase his fortitude as he gains equipment. Jax gains 3 health per point of Attack Damage and 2 health per point of Ability Power received from items.
Jax's Passive, this is nice as the items chosen give Jax more life, which can seriously help.
Jax leaps towards a target. If it's an enemy, he attacks it and deals an additional 50 / 75 / 100 / 125 / 150 (+70% of ability power) magic damage.
Cooldown 17 / 14 / 11 / 8/ 5 seconds
Cost 65 mana
This is a Very nice skill as it can aid in helping you get away, help you get that pesky champion that is running away, or it can be used to help engage an enemy champion.
Jax charges his weapon with energy, causing his next attack to deal 75/110/145/180/215 (+40% ap and 40% bonus ad) bonus magic damage.
Cooldown: 5 seconds
Cost: 20 mana
This skill does some serious damage, as it is stackable with Jax's other skills or on its own. You should seriously spam this attack, make full use of it. Its meant to do some serious damage.
Passive: Increases Jax's dodge chance by 10 / 12 / 14 / 16 / 18%.
Active: Jax stuns surrounding enemies for 1 second and deals 80 / 100 / 120 / 140 / 160 (+60% of ability power) magic damage to them.
Usable only within 7 seconds of dodging an attack.
Cooldown: 4.5 Seconds
Cost: 60 Mana
This skill is nice as it gives the extra dodge bonus, & once you dodge you have the chance to use Counter Strike to hit for some nice damage, & even stun for a second.
Passive: Jax's basic attacks increase his attack speed by 6/10/14% for 2.5 seconds (max 10 stacks). Every third consecutive attack deals 140/170/210 (+0.7) bonus magic damage.
Active: Jax's speed allows him to reduce incoming magic damage. For 5/6.5/8 seconds his Magic Resistance is increased by 20/35/50 plus his Dodge percent totalling Magic Resistance.
Cost: 80 Mana
This is the reason I use Jax, this skill does some serious damage. It gives a nice Attack Speed bonus, couple this with Rageblade & Jax can almost hit 3 times in a second. The real destructive nature of this skill lies in the fact that on the third hit Jax lands some serious extra damage.
