Not much of a Xerath player, so I can't really vote, but your guide isn't bad.

P.S.
Name is just great :D

Nice guide, I love the explanations made in each item, but I have to agree in the seals section maybe other selection instead of full ap maybe some life or mana regen would fit better.

GrandmasterD, though you are right about some things, I find your post more than a little arrogant. It seems as though you believe your way to play Xerath is the only way to play him and don't seem to understand that there may be method to my madness.

My underlying strategy for these builds is to dominate mid quickly. This means maxing out damage as much as possible for the first few levels of the game. That is why I choose Morello's instead of Rod of Ages as an early game item. That is also why I choose flat AP runes instead of AP per level. Yes, you'll get more total AP from the per level runes, but those during those crucial first levels where you establish lane dominance, flat AP will provide you with far more damage.

I choose not to build Deathfire Grasp or choose Ignite because I feel they encourage you to get in close with Xerath which is generally not good for his health. I pick teleport because it allows you to buy and return to lane quickly or to pick up easy kills by using it to gank the side lanes. Had you actually read my guide, you would know that I explained this in my spells and items section.

I didn't finish the sheets because I was only showing core items. Obviously you will build situational items later depending on your opponents and the kind of damage you take. Again, I explained this in the items section

This guide is simply no good, the build in the cheat sheet isnt finished, the skill order you provide isnt even possible and the rune choices are bad.
  • First, Locus of Power should be taken at level 4, not level 3. This will allow you to stay ahead in damage of most mid laners such as Brand.
  • CDR is so overrated on Xerath, in fact it is unnecessary. And if you really want CDR go for Deathfire Grasp not Morello's Evil Tome.
  • go for Greater Glyph of Scaling Ability Power not Greater Glyph of Ability Power. The AP/lvl are just much better.
  • First, Flat ap < AP/lvl except for the quints. But above all else, AP on seals is sub-par, either go for something defensive such as Greater Seal of Vitality or pick up some mana regeneration.
  • Remember, Locus of Power gives a speed boost of 35%! Staying a little longer may cause some Brand to waste his Pillar of Flame, you will be fast enough to dodge it.
  • Rod of Ages beats Morello's Evil Tome when rushing it!
  • Teleport has little to no use when laning mid, plus Ignite is required to get an early kill!
  • Having multiple cheat sheets is unnecessary. They don't differ much from eachother, just stick to one cheat sheet and explain the rest in your guide.

Well that was about it. I hope you are willing to make some changes to your guide.

Sincerely,
GrandmasterD

Almost the exact way i play xerath. For glyphs, i would suggest you to try magic resistance as i have found some trouble with ap casters in early game like leblanc or brand that can outdamage you.

Quoted:
Since Xerath doesn't have the best scaling on his abilities, the extra 30% AP from the passive will help keep you ahead of the curve.

Just wanted to point out that xerath does have a great scaling in his ultimate. It may look like its only 0.6, but he is able to use him 3 times so actually it is a 1.8 scaling for the whole damage. Great guide =).

The builds I have at the top are just the core items--after that, you should buy items as necessary for your game. Banshee's Veil if they have lots of CC, Zhonya's Hourglass if you want more damage/armor, Mejai's Soulstealer if you're carrying hard, etc.

In my introduction I have a short description of each build and when to use it. You can also go to the Items section for a more in-depth description of each build.
