The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
Hello, and welcome to my AD Solo top Hecarim guide. This build is a mix of AD, a bit of AP, and tankiness with damage.
In this guide I will go in-depth about most of my choices as Hecarim, and please, before you rate, at least try it.
Pros / Cons
+ Spammable Rampage for lots of DPS
+ Very quick movement around the map with Devastating Charge
+ Has a lot of lane sustain with Spirit of Dread
+ Good knockback, again using Devastating Charge
+ Great damage + fear in teamfights using Onslaught of Shadows
- Not very tanky untill Frozen Heart
- Can get beat easily by people with true damage ( Olaf, Ahri, etc)
- If CC'd, ( Frozen Mallet), you will have an 80% chance of dying.
greater mark of desolationx9
Armor Pen is very good for ANY solo top, and comes in handy in the early game, where some people might start with Cloth + 5 pots, and is also useful just to pierce through the default armor they have.
Along with your armor pen, armor will make just a bit harder to kill. This with your Glyphs, and Spirit of Dread, you will have incredible lane sustain.
Again, you will have more lane sustain against ap tops ( Vladimir, for instance.)
Also for lane sustain and a bit more tankiness overall...
Summoner's Wrath : Mainly used for Ignite and Ghost.
Brute Force : For extra AD, obviously.
Butcher : Better for last hitting.
Alacrity : To improve your slow attack speed
Weapon Expertise : For improved Armor Pen.
Havoc : A little big of damage goes a long way.
Vampirism : Good lifesteal for more sustain.
Sunder : More armor pen
Executioner : Damage, again, is always nice.
Resistance : A bit of magic resistance just in case of an AP top, if you want, you can put 3 in this instead of the armor.
Hardiness : Armor for AD solo tops.
Durability : Extra health for lane sustain
Veteran's Scars : Again, more health for sustain.
Good for extra health, damage, and a bit of extra lifesteal. This is an optional item, if you wish, you could get Boots of Speed with Health Potionx3
For some extra lane sustain, this is an OPTIONAL item, you dont HAVE to get it if you don't want too.
This is a very useful item to lower CC amount, or against AP casters. If you are up against somebody with hardly any CC (I mean stuns and slows.) then grab Ninja Tabi.
Gets this against an AD solo top, the slow on it is very useful as well, if you want to get it just for that part. (which I do not recommend), if you are going against an AP, grab Hexdrinker
This is your main damage item, you get AP (for W and R) and AD (for auto, and Q), along with movement + attack speed. It's a GREAT item for Hecarim. (If you started with Hexdrinker, you will have Maw of Malmortius instead.)
A tanky item with mana, which is a very good grab for Hecarim.
A good item for survivabilty in teamfights (or sustain if you're still laning...), and it will eventually be built into a The Bloodthirster.
A mix of mana, and lots of armor. A perfect mix for Hecarim. This will boost your survivability by about 50%, at least! And with the mana, you will be able to spam Q more! hurray!
A bit of magic resist and attack damage. grab this for their AP casters.
A bit more mr and ad than Hexdrinker, plus the passive for +1 AD for every 1.5% hp missing. It's a must grab.
More lifesteal and AD, with a combination of the passive, is a great (also optional) damage item for Hecarim.
The final item for your build! Armor and Crit-chance, this item is to finish all of your tankiness and damage off!
Solo Top Ranks
Akali-Akali can easily be beaten by a good Hecarim. The thing about Hecarim. is that, he can kill anybody that gets close. If Akali pops her Twilight Shroud, you can simply run into her shroud and Q+W.
Fiora-At lower levels, Fiora's Lunge can harass Hecarim very bad early game. She also has as much survivability with her passive Duelist. Also with her Riposte, she can reflect your power auto attacks. She can also win exchanges with Burst of Speed, or Blade Waltz. Although, if she's bad, you can win. That's all.
Jarvan IV-This guy can be kinda difficult later on. He wont do much untill he levels his q/e a lot with his Dragon Strike+ Demacian Standard combo. He can also Cataclysm you for a good amount of damage, although, you can beat him early game and late game if you build armor/lifesteal. You can also ult out of his ult if you really need to.
Lee Sin Lee Sin will absolutely DESTROY YOU! He can get in and out with his Sonic Wave and Safegaurd He can also get lifesteal with Iron Will. He also has a slow with Cripple, and slows are the direct counter to Hecarim. Avoid getting even CLOSE to Lee Sin, and have your jungler baby sit top. If you can get a lot of kills off him, you might just win.
[Please note, these are based off of personal experiences. As I encounter more solo tops, I will list them here.]
Thanks for reading! This guide is a work in progress!
I'll be adding more content to Runes, Masteries, Items, and I'll add a segment for Summoner Spells. I'll probably add an area about Farming as Hecarim, and, to finish it off, and a list of solo top ranks against Hecarim.
Sorry for it being so unfinished, but, before I finish this, I wanted to know what people think of it before I finish it.
(This build may not work for you, but it works for my playstyle. Please try it before rating it.)
