I suggest two Philo (three gold/10 may be a bit excessive) and start building the one or two items (aside from boots) you're going to have endgame while buying wards for jungle and pink wards for dragon.

I would also like to stress that Q really isn't needed if you're babysitting; I can see Q being leveled first if you're in a 1v1 lane, but otherwise Sona shouldn't be making trades, she should let her partner try to make a trade, and then heal them up and help them get away when they back off.

If you're going to go with level one double Faerie Charm, I suggest one health pot one sight ward; this also fits with the fact that Sona should not be the one trying to make the trades, she's simply too squishy.

Personally, when the roaming phase starts, I think Sona should leave rather than the other person bottom, this is just for farming's sake; roaming against a competent team will rarely yield kills, so the other hero leaving would cause them to fall behind on the farm they're already getting. Drive-by heals and speed boosts help other lanes win their lane, as well.

I'm back on MOBAFire to do some tough evaluations, and I do take time to read your guide. There are just some ideas that I'd like you to include before I make my vote an upvote -- downvotes tend to draw more attention.

I see what you mean and thank you for the suggestions. I made a build similar to the one you mentioned in a new section I just added (alternative item routes), and I'm hoping to test it soon.

I think some of the problem is that I usually solo q, and because of that I can't control my lane partner very well. Ganking is more fun than farming I guess so often people like to go do it and I have to stay in lane or the tower will fall.

I did go into detail about when to level Q and when to level W first in my "Early Game" section if you could check that out and tell me what you think. TL:DR if you have a strong lane partner that can get kills lvl Q first, if you have a passive lane partner than can only farm lvl W first.

I usually do 1 philo if I'm doing well (got some early kills) and 2 philos if I didn't get any kills.

Thanks for the calm, descriptive feedback though!

No problem; I'll go change my vote now that you've heard what I had to say :3

Oh, and playing support in solo queue? Don't do it =w= At least make it duo queue so you aren't completely screwed (and then blamed) for playing support that didn't "get kills". This is coming from a Taric main who used to played solo queue.

Even with strong lane partners, Q should not be needed. I'd get one level in Q just so I can charge the passive quicker; your slow proc from passive is what you should be using to secure kills (for your lanemate, of course) and all you need is one in Q to proc a double damage power chord to harass if you REALLY want to. However, Sona should not depend on burst to secure a kill. If you are able to force them back (and not push the wave due to low level Q!) you will be able to zone the other enemy 1v2, and then when the other laner comes back, you're at an advantage. Burst is too reliant on the enemy being stupid and overextending; why not slowly (but surely) secure your victory? Tortoise and the hare, Mowen :v

Thank you Six! (and others) I'm going to test out your suggestions (though like you point out it's going to be hard doing it solo q!) but it might take a while. Since more ppl have been doing premade 5's maybe I will try to get in on those (if they want me... >.>) :P

I'm not actually sure what to add to everything that's already been said.. Great guide, loads of great tips, and makes me want to play her again (******* wooden computer). +1 for effort and brilliant presentation.

Any guides we can expect in the future? :o

I like this guide a lot, I've been basically using this build for a while now and I love it :D Things I sometimes do - kage's lucky pick building into a deathfire grasp. Gives more gold early game, plus some ap, and deathfire grasp's active is often very useful. Also, what's your opinion on gold per 5 quints? They seem good to me, and cheap IP cost for quints (which might appeal to some).

/facepalm

forgot to vote. Anyway, the top rated Sona guide is one of the worst guides I've ever seen. This needs to replace it or I'm actually going to /wrists.
