1 of 2 good Sona guides in the top 10.

It's really pathetic to see the two comments above me trying to make this a bad build/guide.

Constructive Criticism:

1) :/ Quints of Avarice? Now that the support meta isn't that strong, I don't think these are necessary. However, you do buy two Philo Stones, so it's probably fine.

2) Patch Notes/Changelog should be moved to the bottom, due to delaying the reader from reading more fun stuff.

3) Could you skew your build to be based on some more AP? As sustain was nerfed, Sona's attacks should deal some damage. Her Q is a power house with a Lich Bane :P

4) Skills section: Is a great wall of text and lot of copied information. Delete the wiki info and just leave your own stuff there. Also, consider using columns, or some sort of formatting to make your section look better.

5) No need to list useless summoner spells.

6) No suggestion of Quints of Fortitude? Or Seals of Replenishment? Or Glyphs or Shielding? More alternative runes would be good.

7) Try centring your item icons and headings.

8) You could detail an alternative build that focuses on AP to go with your AP vs Cooldown/support chapter.

Constructive Criticism:

1) <3 Sona. Just wondering if this has been updated after the sustain nerf...

2) Items: I'm not too sure about them. Mainly Eleisa's in particular. Especially when you are making Sona an AP powerhouse with runes, it seems odd you're sticking with the support items. I'd suggest grabbing Rod of Ages or AA even, due to Sona's spamming and because you are runing her to be an AP support. Early philsopher's stone is fine, but you could also run Doran's Ring to boost your AP.

3) Great guide for Support Sona, but I'd like to see an AP Sona, with RoA as core. Just my opinion +1

1) Everyone <3 Sona, and yes I did update it, says so in the title. That very day in fact. Was something off from the previous version that I didn't catch?

2) I thought I changed the runes in the build cheat-sheet. Thanks for mentioning that. On items, the reason for Elisa's Miracle is I opt to take the CDR from Ionian Boots of Lucidity instead of grabbing Mercury's Treads. The fact that it builds from a Philo is just too good especially with the regen it gives. Add another philo after you upgrade and you've got a constant flow of gold, while still getting the regen from both items. I did get Archangel's Staff back before the change, but her heal was so bad early game that you couldn't make up for it with a large mana pool late game. You can't charge the Tear fast enough to make up for the inefficiency of it, so early regen can help negate the cost. In a team fight you will be spamming obviously, but it likely won't last long enough for you to completely drain yourself to uselessness. I suppose you could grab a Chalice of Harmony if you find that to be a problem. I'll try it out sometime.

3) Support Sona just seems much more effective from what I've seen, and it's pretty cheap too. Thank you muchly for the comments.

I'll just go through one by one and answer each comment since it's pretty much apparent you didn't actually read anything and just glazed over it.

Sure you aren't getting CS, this is covered in the guide you seemingly failed to read. However with the number of assists Sona generates, Philosopher's Stone is more than enough for gold generation on top of runes and Greed .

Eleisa's Miracle does get built, yes but for good reason. It's a TON of regen, and it isn't compeletely replacing Philosopher's Stone. Another one is purchased simultaneously. The regen from just those two items is perfectly enough for sustaining yourself in a team fight. Tear of the Goddess was in fact in the build before the support overhaul, and I might put it back now that her heal isn't as inefficient early game.

Aegis of the Legion is also core in many support's builds. Perhaps tanks should ignore the item since supports build it. Saying that it shouldn't be built is ignorant of what happens in a game and how effective the item is, especially on an aura based champion such as Sona. It provides great all around stats to yourself and to your team. If your team doesn't have one, you're doing something wrong.

Alternate runes and rune setups are in fact given. I used AP quints and glyphs for the longest time, and haven't update the main build so I do thank you for pointing that out. Currently my support page has Greater Quintessence of Goldx2, Greater Quintessence of Movement Speedx1 and Greater Glyph of Magic Resistx9.

Capping CDR is already done through masteries and items. Using runes on top of it is just overkill. Sona has a zone threat even through the late game because of her Song of Celerity Power Chord and Crescendo. As mentioned already I used to use AP glyphs to help her early game, but now I mostly just use flat MR. No matter how much you try, you WILL at one point or another be hit. Whether it's stray AoE damage or you being focused in a fight it is going to happen.

I didn't make an entire section dedicated to enemy matchups, because for the most part you will always play the same against everyone. The support stays in the back, avoiding personal contact with enemy champions, casting spells in order to win the fight. I'm sure we can all agree on that. If I went through and listed every single one it would be tedious and too repetitive. Teams that work well with Sona are listed however and that isn't nearly as boring. Different people have different qualities that work with her. Thus, I explain these and who I think compliments her well.

Now I did seem to forget about wards specifically, but that can just be touched over. There's already a great guide here on mobafire on the subject.

Your title said "Support Sona", where are your wards? Support Sona should give CS priority towards their laner, so where do you get so much gold for expensive items like Rod of Ages, Zhonya's Hourglass, Frozen Heart and many many wards if you only have 1 gold generating item that will later be upgraded into Eleisa's Miracle? Aegis of Legion are many tanks' core item, why you put it into core build? Why Greater Glyph of Scaling Ability Power and Greater Quintessence of Ability Power for a support? Sona can only zone out with her long ranged attack and skills during early game, so why not Greater Glyph of Scaling Cooldown Reduction or Greater Glyph of Cooldown Reduction to cap her CDR? You only mention champions with advantage if Sona teamed up with, what if she faced them in opponents' team? What should she do? There is no Tear of the Goddess in the build, how can she sustain that heavy mana usage during laning or in a team fight in order to trigger her passive? Why Eleisa's Miracle? Isn't a support suppose to be not getting hit at all cost?

Still a pretty nice build for an offensive support. Peace

Tried out this build and won, my final score was 4-1-17 which was good because I was babysitting a Ezreal who rushed for RoA and Phantoms. The support revamp has made Sona one of my more favorite characters as well due to the fact that it's actually worth it to switch on AoP for the resists. All in all, this is one of the better guides on Sona on this site +1
