Introduction

SO guys, this guide has both builds for tanking against Ability Power and against Attack Damage. if your enemies have a both on their team then you will have to make a hybrid build. Remeber Have Fun! It's a Game....

Runes

i used flat runes because early game is really key for malphite. take charge with his armor and health he will have plenty of health late game because of the build so that is why i dont use progressive runes. i dont recommend progressive runes in any build because getting those kills very early game can be the difference between victory and defeat.

Play Aggressive + Item Guide

Dont be afraid to take the hits for your team. you have to build your items according to what the other team is using for characters. Team one is the build for MR(Magic Resistant) and Team two is the build for AR(Armor).

TEAM 1 VS AP: From the start immediately buy cloth armor and the five pots and get in a lane with your ranged DPS player. get to your lane with your partner ASAP to get the upper hand on your enemies you will need those kills to be a good tank. Harass with seismic shard as much as you can. stay in the lane as long as you can and don't go buy until you take the first tower in your lane(or you die and have the chance.) when that happens you can now recall and buy the Mercury treads and HoG(heart of Gold). buy Regrowth pendents x2 to get ready for Force of Nature and Catalyst for Banshee's Veil. If u find ur self a little short on health then get the ruby crystal early if not get Force of Nature and Banshee's Veil. Finally buy Aegis of the Legion.
At this point u should be set for a while and your team should hopefully be pushing and in there base. if the game goes further then this point you should be focusing on getting Randuin's Omen and Frozen Heart. Remember that ground slam is increased by 70% or your armor so these last items really help when tanking.

If you want to know which character is in which category refer to the Champion List chapter.

Team 2 VS AD: The strategy and gameplay compared to playing against AP Characters is the same other than your item set. Your first buy can be pretty important depending on who is on the other team. if the other team has high DMG Characters then buy doran's shield or the regrowth pendant and the next time you buy get the other. just like when playing against AP Characters dont buy until you have taken there tower. so next you will buy cloth armor and the ruby crystal. Health is very important and you want a lot of it because every character has an auto attack. after buy the chain armor and then the thornmail, at this point in the build you will have plenty of health if you are up to par with the enemy and the thornmail will be returning the DMG they hit you with. Proceed with Giant's Belt and you will have the items for warmog's armor.
Next concentrate on getting Frozen Mallet and Frozen Heart by buying Phage and Glacial Shroud. you will be able to tank pretty well with out these two but you will need them to have the advantage.

The Great Initiator-Malphite

when your team is all pushing one lane u are the tank. get in the middle and take the heat. before you get rush in head first, make sure you are using the correct move sequence. Start with Brutal Strikes right before you take the heat. charge in to the middle of the group with unstoppable force and immediately use Ground Slam. Since you should still have Brutal strikes should still be active Ground Slam did more Damage because it boosted by 50% of your Armor. after use ignite, auto attack, and Seismic Shard.
