Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
I was looking up ways to improve my support Orianna, but I found that most of the guides dealt with an AP mid Orianna. So I decided instead that to make a guide and then get some comments to know how I could improve. This is my first guide so I'd like a good amount of feedback so my next one (if there is) could be better. Now for a bit about Orianna:
Orianna is a rather difficult champion to play. Getting used to managing her ball can somewhat difficult and using her ultimate for the desired effect can be very frustrating. Though she's a support without a heal, I still find that her slow/speed buff and her protect more than make up for her early bot phase, and her R can help a teamfight in many ways, pulling enemies away from or into your teammates, and general chaos.
Pretty standard rune page. This build is focused much more on making sure your team and especially your carry stays alive, so I took cd reduction runes instead of mr or ap so that I could push out more shields and slows more quickly
The logic behind masteries is the same as my runes, trying to get as much cdr as possible with other benefits as well.
You may notice something about my item page, in that it looks extremely unfinished. This is on purpose, because past that point, items purchases will depend on your team comp and the enemy team comp. Aegis as early as possible will be great for the whole team, and shurelya's soon after is pretty much a must have on all supports (I believe).
You may notice I don't take Q until later on, which may seem strange. I believe that the bonus and shield from protect is definitely something you'd want to max out quickly, which is why I hold off until level 4 for Q.
Ya, I think flash pretty much speaks for itself.
Clairvoyance is something I find really useful, but you have other choices which are also decent picks. It really depends on what you like.
Make sure to always keep the ball attached to your teammate as a default. This way, they get the passive defense and shield will come as soon as you click it with no travel time. Slow will also be centered as their location, giving them a speed boost as soon as you use it and slowing down anyone who may be after them. This skill greatly helps against ganks. Remember that Q can reveal brush, so make use of it when you want to check. Face-checking usually ends in hurt.
Mid-game and late-game you will typically be staying close to your team, looking for any kill or objective possibilities. All of your skills can aid your team greatly. Orianna is surprisingly good at clearing out lanes later on with her Q/W, so make sure to be watching for any extra farm possibilities.
Overall, Orianna is a decent support character, maybe not on the level of someone like Sona or Janna, but still good and extremely fun to play. Her ball adds an interesting mechanic into the game, and her skills all seem to work well for a support style of play.
