Ok, couple things I should probably clarify better this time, lol

First: Radius

When someone says radius, it's from the center of the circle to it's outside edge. When someone says diameter, it's the total width of the circle (radius * 2).

Secondly, I haven't done testing with this to try and figure out the range, but looking at the way it's aura range is stated on the LoL Wiki, it's stated the same way as the range champions AA ranges are stated, meaning that 1000 is the radius, and not the diameter of its aura (I'll look into that in-game later, as I could find no discussions on this that specifically mentioned 1000 as being the radius or diameter, though I am convinced it is the radius).

As for Arcane Knowledge, I just thought it should be mentioned, because the more flat penetration you have, the less it will benefit you, and if you see your're in a Draft Mode game against a Galio, Ryze, Soraka, Graves, and Udyr (or a similar high-resistance team), you may already know you're going to need Void Staff to counter the MR your opponents are going to have. Thus, it might be more helpful to you to use AP or m/5 runes, or whichever your prefference is. 150 MR on more than 2 champions can seriously suck for AP carries without void staff.

Also, I never mentioned Lich Bane. I can see it being an amazing item once you get in range, but not necessary. Still, could be a core item, I don't know, still knew to AP kog anyways, but what I do know is that it won't be anywhere near as good for keeping mana up and spamming spells constantly. May be worth it, and then again it may just be hurting you in the long run. It would certainly help if you were pushing a tower down though. Every 2 seconds you could fire off a skill and hit the tower for an extra 800 damage or so (before resistances). But you should have champs that can shred towers on your team already.

Anyways, I'll look more into the Abyssal aura range, but I'm convinced for now that it's 1000 in terms of radius (2000 diameter range). Even so, not advocating you buy it, it still wouldn't be worth it with your build in 99% of the cases I can think of. Archangel's and the like are better picks on AP Kog.

Cheers!

A-mazing. A lot of times when people make unconventional builds the champions become sub-optimal, but this AP build is insanely strong.

STRENGTHS:
The range on his Void Ooze is incredibly large and combined with his Bio-Arcane Barrage and Living Artillery makes for an amazing poke mid. Also, if you have a lot of minions stacked at your tower his Void Ooze and Living Artillery can clear them in no time.

I wouldn't be surprised if Kog'Maw is considered among the elite of AP mids using this build. The only one who comes close to Kog'Maw's range is Xerath, but Xerath's ult's range is only 1300. Kog'Maw's Living Artillery beats that at rank 1, and at rank 3 its range is 2200.

WEAKNESSES:
It is simply difficult to finish people off. Kog'Maw has no hard cc like a stun or a suppress. Living Artillery, Void Ooze, and Bio-Arcane Barrage are great damaging spells, but relatively easy for a hurt champion to escape from. He doesn't have a nuke combo like so many of the favorite AP mids have like Cass, Veigar, Ahri, Annie, and Ryze. Also, this build isn't particularly tanky and has zero spell vamp so sustain is mostly seen in the form of health pots and consistently staying at long range. Not being able to finish people off means less money from kills (though at 16 it becomes easier with the increased range on Living Artillery) and is thus more dependent on CS and assists.

Conclusion:
ALL of Kog'Maw's abilities scale with AP so AP Kog just might become as popular as AD Kog. However, I can't really see him in the role of a nuker, but as an AP Sniper like you mentioned in your title. Hiding behind walls and sniping is just what this swag Kog does. Thank you Swagrid for this awesome build and for being creative, yet optimal at the same time.

Well I really like this build, I've been using almost exactly this build on Kog'Maw for a long time, even before AP Kog became as popular as it is now. But in my opinion, you should give Boots of Mobility on AP Kog a try and perhaps integrate it in your guide. I've been buying these boots on AP Kog for a long time now and I find the utility they provide far more useful than the little extra damage from Sorc Shoes. AP Kog is all about kiting and keeping distance from people, and Boots of Mobility will exactly allow you to do this: Be so fast in lane that you can dodge any skill***** and run away from people that want to CC and kill you, and in late game you can kite their entire team. Also it gives you lots of chasing power. When I didn't buy Boots of Mobility, I felt that just by running at me or using multiple gapclosers (think of Jarvan and Lee sin) I was caught far too easily, but Boots of Mobility will really make you an untouchable Artillery that will, at a certain point, become an absolute hyper carry that destroys a team without even getting touched. Just my opinion, pls try it out and keep your swag (Y).

Cool guide. Instead of going to Team 2 build if you are getting zoned out, can you just stack a second meki pendant early? This will give you more mana to zone out your opponent by spamming your ult. *shrug* I don't play Kog often enough to be an expert. Just throwing out ideas.
