Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
This is my first guide so please any questions fell free to ask in game or on here.i would post my kill death ratio but don't know how.I pretty much threw this build together while server's was down so it short and sweet.
The earliest account of Swain's existence comes from a Noxian infirmary doctor's notes. According to them, Swain limped into the ward without cry or complaint; his right leg was snapped in half, with bone protruding from the skin. A small, scowling bird seemed affixed to his shoulder. The doctor gawked in horror as the young adolescent answered questions about his health and age with a calm, even stare. Even behind the echoing crack as the sand counterweights reset his tibia, Swain's measuring gaze never flickered, nor did his eyes twitch from the pop of his fibula. He refused the doctor's recommendation of magical treatment for the leg's inoperable damage, requesting only a spare crutch before shuffling away. He next surfaced in documents from the Noxian military, although it is evident that they are incomplete. Normally a crippled boy would be turned away in shame from Noxus' proud legion, but the records indicate his first designation was that of a ranking officer.
The men who've served under him (and survived) have remained in his charge with unshakable faith and loyalty. He leapt through the High Command's hierarchy, often ascending when superiors requested demotions to join his unit. A cunning strategist, Swain was decorated after every battle he fought, regularly hobbling in contemplation at the front of the assault. His rise to power seemed unceasing until he was suddenly relegated to inactive status prior to the Ionian Invasion - a bewildering decision which reeked of bureaucratic subversion. If Swain was upset by the events which unfolded, he never belied it. His face was so implacable that it was popularly rumored to be a mask, disguising something utterly inhuman beneath. More controversy surrounded the bird that never left his shoulder, whose name he whispered only to it. When Demacia escalated its presence in the League, Swain was immediately returned to active duty.
So here we are, Swain, and you are wondering how to play this guy... I get it that many will jump to the masteries, runes, skills, and/or items part and won't even take a minute to read this, but I appreciate that you have gotten through the first few sentences.
Enough with the BS and lets get on with this.
I do not really know what you are expecting to red here, so I will make it very clear what it is, and what it is NOT.
I will tell you in advance, if you want Swain to be a character that runs in and gets a quadra kill, this is not the guide for you, and in my opinion, not the best character either. I¢ï¿½ï¿½m not saying it is impossible, but it is very unlikely.
This is NOT a guide to make Swain a nuker. If you follow this guide you will be playing him like a high dot character, you won¢ï¿½ï¿½t have damage enough to kill enemies if they run all the way back like a twitch, singed, or maybe teemo would, but I bet you can surpass teemo and singed on that, as well as you can surpass the twitched and the teemo on survivability at the same time.
So what will Swain be? Well, as said before, he has a quite high dot compared to some other characters that have dots. He can have a high survivability, and he can kill quite a lot, but not as a nuker.
This guide WILL approach different ways of avoiding mana problems, and I won¢ï¿½ï¿½t show any high AP builds as there are many guides like that already, as well as I don¢ï¿½ï¿½t see the build that good on him.
What Swain will do on a team won¢ï¿½ï¿½t be enough for him to be the only source of magical damage, but he will, however, net some kills both for his team, and for himself. When you have a team that already has a tank, initiator, dps, and some magic damage, Swain might be a good idea. He can kill several squishies by himself, even when underleved, but it gets a bit hard as they get better items and as tanks start getting beefier. My Swain play style, which I will be talking about through this guide, ensures you some high dot on early and mid game as well as good survivability. You dot will however be less efficient late game, but it will still net you and your team several kills.
If you have read all through this introduction I would like to congratulate you, because I know how boring it can be, but walls of texts can clarify lots of things, and I hope that this helped you to see whether Swain is the character you want to play or not.
I always start with the Doran's Ring and a health pot. Then i get a second ring my first trip back to the shop. That way you can have some AP to get the job done to get the kill . That and the extra health helps a little to.Now we need some boots to chase people with are ult i get the Sorcerer's boots for the magic pen. When u get enough money to get the belt for the scepter i would get that as soon as u cna that helps u out a hole lot with swain cause he is a DOT(Damage Over Time)person so if u not alive then no kill for u . Ok now you need to finish up the scpeter to get some more ap by this time u should have at least one or 2 kills and alot of assist . I get the Archangel's Staff for the mana cause if ur ult isnt up u goin to b dead . Now as far as the Ring yea it give ungodly amount of AP but more the better for Swain i think after that it is situational on the build . if heavy magic i go wiht some more health. If more tanky heavy go wiht magic pen .
Now for the abilities i always start with nevermove if i am soloing to get some farming done if i am with someone i always get Decrepify then i go wiht the way the build goes ur main thing u want to do is lock them in place hit wiht torment then with decrepify then pop ult and chase the guy down.
I have played alot of guides and i havnt found one yet that hd worked so this guide is pretty much all guides put into one.
