So Welcome to my first guide, I love swain, I play as him as much as I can.
After playing him awhile i wanted to see what other people thought of how i was building him, hope you enjoy the
My thoughts on Swain
Swain is awesome 1v1 because his abiltys are fantastic for focus firing, keep that in mind in team fights, Besides Nevermove, your skills can only hit one target at a time,
I have seen a few builds do mana regen and health regen, I think it is rather pointless because of swain's passive and ult, as soon as you hit 6 the only reason youll have to leave lane is to buy,
People also talk about the EQWR combo, I dont know why but i think its overrated, I like to inatiate with Nevermove then into Torrment then into Decrepify then ult, Rather than just be a solo dps casting like this allows swain to help in teamfights by holding down key memebers of the fight
Runes for Swain are pretty simple, i just build straight AP, Swain is all about the damage his spells can deal, and the more you can get them to deal the more Torrment is going to hurt your target.
I took Everything with the words "Force" in them
Swain's burst damage is low but it is made up in the sense that his Dots (Damage over time) deal insane amounts of damage,
Ghost is super important because movement speed is something this old cripple has a problem with, it also lets Swain be one of the best Tower Divers ever, Pop his ult, and chase them down with ghost, you just got an easy kill that Gives you mana back, plus health.
Ignite is awesome for swain because its another DOT that will ticket your target down.
Laning with swain is relatively easy because of all the debilitation at your disposal
Nevermore is the only burst damage you have to cast so i always try to snare them then through lazor bird and torment,
Solo laning is always preferable with an AP carry but if you dont get the solo try to lane with a support with a stun or snare, so you can combo off snare after snare with continual dots
Swain is great for teamfighting because of his slows snares and his 2 aeo (Ult and Nevermore) Hes a great initator because of nevermove which can allow jumps and skill shots to land easier and start the fight with a quick kill,
There are a few different ways to effectivly use swain in a team fight, you can hold back their tank with Q and W while focusing carries with E and R or you can go all out on one character, and because Swain has such a high over time damage either way you will rake in kills and assists
So what i have found is that if they have a heavy Amount of Magic damage and have begun to focus you, the scepter is a good choice because it gives you MR as well as even more AP,
if you have complete control of the game and they cant focus you down, or aren't Archangels is a good choice because of the mana so you can stay in bird mode for even longer as well as more damage.,
