Introduction: Tank and Spank Blitzcrank
Hello everyone! Now, before you freak out about the fact that this build has Fortify, here me out. Blitzcrank is (in my opinion) the League's BEST champion for interrupts. You are meant to run around and completely mess the other teams formation up. Therefore, seeing people play AD Crank is gut wrenching. There are more than a few handfuls of better AD champs then an AD Blitz. Let's leave the AD to them alright? Blitz was made to ragdoll his enemies to him and let his team do the work. Don't expect to get a billion kills. That's not what this build is about. Alright, now that you understand this let's get started.
The city of Zaun is a place where both magic and science have gone awry. The unchecked nature of experimentation has taken its toll on the city. However, Zaun's lenient restrictions allow their researchers and inventors the leeway to push the bounds of science at an accelerated rate, for better or worse. It was under these conditions that a team of doctoral students from Zaun's College of Techmaturgy made a breakthrough in the field of intelligent steam automation. Their creation, the steam golem Blitzcrank, was developed to exercise judgment on-the-fly in order to assist with Zaun's hazardous waste reclamation process, since so often the conditions did not allow for human supervision. However, he soon began exhibiting unforeseen behaviors.
Over time, the scientists were able to identify a demonstrated learning process, and Blitzcrank fast became a celebrity. As is sadly often the case though, credit for the golem's creation was scooped up by another - Professor Stanwick Pididly - though most now know the truth. In the wake of the ensuing legal maelstrom, it became evident that neither party truly had the steam golem's best interests at heart, and Blitzcrank humbly petitioned for personal autonomy. Backed by overwhelming support from the public, it took the liberal Council of Zaun only a few weeks to declare Blitzcrank a fully-independent, sentient entity. A unique being, the golem left Zaun, distressed by the controversy and feeling there was no place he could fit in. His travels led him to the one location in Valoran where unique beings have a place - the League of Legends. Fortunately, he was easily able to adapt his design to suit the rigors he would face on the Fields of Justice.
"Though Blitzcrank may batter anything that stands in his way, he really has a heart of gold...encased in a framework of iron...in a carapace of steel."
Now, the Blitzcrank I use may seem a bit unorthodox at first glance. But believe me, it works. I use Magic Pen marks to coincide with my ultimate. Not only is the silence a GODSEND for your team, but with the extra Magic Pen it'll hurt just enough to get those last second burst kills from an escaping enemy. Dodge seals are used since Blitzcrank's main ability is his Rocket Grab, you'll be getting up close and personal with a lot of enemy champions. You don't want to pull that pesky Xin Zhao just to have your robotic face sliced off because have yet to buy armor. The dodge helps you just enough to not take every single hit from those AD carries that you need to be pulling. Magic Resist glyphs for the early game resist you'll be needing for those bursty mages. And finally, Flat Health quints for the early game health advantage. It doesn't matter if you land your pulls or not if you die as soon as they reach you.
My masteries are fairly straightforward. I take the improved Haste to synergize with ghost. I also take points in Nimbleness for the added speed. That combined with Overdrive and Ghost will get you anywhere you need to go in no time! The main thing is to make sure you put a point into Reinforce . This makes your Fortify About a million times more potent for those tower dive situations. Fortify makes your life so much easier and your team will thank you.
RaveDave's advice to TankCrank
First off let me start by saying that in order to be a successful Blitzcrank you MUST be able to land his skillshot. If you can master his pulls then you have the ability to win just about every game you play as him.
Words of Advice:
Always use your Ghost and Overdrive together when using Ghost
Save your Fortify for those big team tower dives. Keep an eye on the map to watch for them.
Prep your Power Fist when you know you have a good pull.
Since this is my first build I am completely open to suggestions and tweaks. Following this tanking build should put you ahead of those other AD Blitzs. Make sure and build according to what the team needs tank wise. Be adaptable to each team comp. And most of all Have Fun! Thumbs ups would also be nice! Thanks!
