Her jump skill is your bane. Your stun is useless vs a good lb. Just do not feed and you should win late game.

Intro
OKAY. I get it, Veigar is a burst champ that can nuke his enemies with a single combo. If it fails, you die. If it works, your team loves you. Why does it have to be all or nothing? My thoughts behind this build are to help you last a long time in fights. Even survive if you make a mistake or get caught out. This build helps experienced players as well as newbies. After all, you are the master of evil that builds ap constantly. It is fun to have that 1200 ap, but it is also unnecessary. What matters more is your ability to cast your massive zoning stun again and again, and then Q and W their team to death all while taking hits. It does your team no good for you to die after 2 or 3 hits. Besides, you will still have huge amounts of ap 600-700 by the end of the build. But this way, you can destroy while also being a rock for your team to depend on. Take advantage of the faCT you are the only mid laner that passively builds permanent ap in the game and use it to your advantage.
Chill Dawgs. These runes help with your tankiness as well as your cooldowns. "But bro, what about building up your ap?". Why? You build it constantly in the game. How about put your runes towards your sustain and things Veigar does not naturally have? The Spell vamp quint gives you sustain in lane phase. If they somehow get you with a skill shot or ganks, you can just heal it up as you Q minions. Because that is how you will kill minions....the VAST majority of the time. With all the scaling cdr runes, you will have 20% at level 18. Which will be significant. You honestly do not even need morel los, unless you are trying for 40%.
We go way back. I have played him ever since I started leauge in 2011. I have seen his rework, his ups, his downs, and I still love him. He is not as op as he used to be. BUT he is still crazy strong if you play him right. I have yet to lose a legitimate ranked game with this build. Not counting afks (may they burn in hell).
This is the most important part of this guide. If you take nothing else from this build, take this chapter. You have 3 goals from start to finish.

Do not feed your lane. Period. Do not dive him, do not even attempt to get first blood unless theyes are literally diving you under your own tower. Why do I say this? Because you will out scale ANYONE. Every minion you kill gives you gold AND ap when you kill it with your Q. Whereas they only get gold. Your patience pays off big time the more you farm your Q. Even if they have a little more farm than you, you still have built way more ap over time than them. So your goal before your ROA, is just to survive and not die. If they enemy mid starts to roam, warn your team. Follow if you know for sure that it will not kill you.
Flash is a staple. You have to have it. Don't be an idiot.
Ghost is great in that it helps you chase and/run away. Veigar is not mobile, so this is great to have.
OR
Barrier: barrier is situational. If they have a zed or LB, I take barrier. Their early burst is ridiculous. This will keep you alive through the early game and keep them from getting huge. Late game....it is just icing on the cake. The rage of the people trying to kill a tanky Veigar is bad enough, but throw in a barrier on top of it is just plain troll.
