Sadly, this build is not as optimal as it use to be. And since the patch ruined my playstyle of Taric, I don't even do normal games with him now, which is sad :/

I have played with Smutty using this build countless times. With it he doesn't need any gold boosting items as you get many assists from your teammates. this build is virtually unbeatable in game and takes all five of the enemy champions whacking on Taric for a good long minute to actually kill him. if you are totally noob at using taric then a philosophers stone and heart of gold are good items to get, yes, but they are totally un-needed in this build. you will be able to tower dive at lv 4 and by the time you are lv 6 your pushing them out of their own turrets, With the help of your lane partner of course. The cost of the build may be a little bit much but in the long run it is totally worth not being able to get hurt during any team fight, and yet still be a threat to the enemy team. Expanded Mind and Perseverance are not totally useless as they will stack with the chalice of Harmony, keep in mind that mana regen is your friend as a Taric and the bigger your mana pool is the faster you are going to be getting mana, thus being able to keep your ult on for longer. Don't criticize until you have fully tried a build out for yourself! or at least seen it being played by someone else!

I also play with Ghost and Clarity. However, I so start with Philosophers Stone. For boots I usually pick ones with 15% CDR. Since cool-down time on my Taric otherwise takes just forever.

Also I am total noob so don't flame me please.

Warding comes naturally through playing a support, that's a given and shouldn't be explained. I didn't write the guide for total newbies, but for people who might be like me and couldn't find a guide that treated Taric to make full use of his potential.

That said, I don't think GP items are needed. I don't steal kills or many minions (only get some accidentally when restoring Mana or if my lane partner recalled to buy) and have no real issues getting gold needed to build. This Taric build is meant to be able to tank while still supporting the team, not just support. The items are around the same price as most tank items, just the ones I select offer support help as well as tank help.

Clairvoyance is nice, but I just cannot play Taric w/o Ghost and Clarity.

  • Actually a support needs gold/10 item's, like Philosopher's stone and Heart of Gold. He shouldn't kill any minions
  • For a support, your build costs to much.
  • The support-builds are set in stone, no new builds avaiable. And Taric will get changed anyway.
  • No sight wardwarding section?
  • Clarity, Ghost and his 5 abilities doesn't have the right color^^.
  • Expanded Mind and Perseverence are useless.
  • Every support needs Clairvoyance.
