Teemo, the Swift Scout. One of the earliest champions released, Teemo has always been a fan favorite, as well as one of my favorites. Unfortunately, with today's meta, there are much better attack speed champions as well as better stealth. It seems that the only use for Teemo today is his free 10 minute wards. I don't know about you, but I don't like running around placing wards for practically half the game, while basically dead for the other half because Teemo is really squishy.
Then, when browsing the LoL wikia page for Teemo, I noticed that his Armor scales better than Amumu. Although he starts out with a measly 14 Armor instead of the traditional 17-19 in tanks, Teemo ends with even higher base armor than most tanks, surpassing most of them at Level 16. Runes and Masteries make the amount of points insignificant at early levels. I'm not saying that extra 1 point will help Teemo at level 18, but the point I'm trying to make is that Teemo's armor does scale well.
My friend always jokes that Teemo has a hidden passive of a global taunt. As in everyone tries to kill him. Although this may be true at early levels, when they have not figured out you've got a ton of armor, a tank does need a way to draw aggro. I will touch on this in the skill section.
This is my first guide ever, feel free to leave suggestions and compliments, but I ask you PLEASE, PLEASE try out this build before you flame me, you may be surprised!

Pros / Cons
- Armor scales well
- 2 second Blind with a medium cd allows for escape route for allies as well as more effective tanking
- Movement speed passive/active allows you to get to an ally quickly
- Poison makes sure enemy does not leave engagement without a few battle scars
- Mushrooms in team fights makes sure that enemies do not escape as well as doing constant damage if utilized correctly.
- You don't have to spend money on wards
- YOUR HIDDEN PASSIVE IS A GLOBAL TAUNT ON EVERYONE
- No hard CC (stuns, snares, knock up)
- Poison will do less damage early game
- Base Magic Resist will not increase with level
This is a generic tank mastery. There is not much to explain. You want Armor and Magic Resist. You want damage reduction. You want some cool-down reduction on your skills, although it's not really needed. And you get some mana per level.
This is a very generic tank rune page. As a tank, you will not be earning as much money as your lane partner. If you are soloing top, you will most likely be getting cs close to tower, as Teemo's range is not that long, so he is easy to harass early on. Either way, the 1gp10 quints are important as a tank's build can get expensive.
Teemo is still a bit squishy early game, so that armor and extra hp pots should help him harass and farm during the laning phase. You should have plenty of gold for your items after that.
One good part about tank Teemo is that his active move quick will help him get to allies so he can shroom slow or blind. Mercury's Treads will still allow you to have the speed you see on normal Teemos.
If you are going up against an AP heavy team, build Aegis of the Legion and Force of Nature first, otherwise, build Aegis then Frozen Heart.
The reason why we build into Heart of Gold and wait to finish it is because we want the extra gold it generates.
As an tank, you want the slows in attack speed, as it means they will do less damage to you and you will do more damage to them.
Guardian Angel is a good final purchase item because it is a generic tank item and gives Armor and MR.
The skill order is the same as most builds. Even as a low ATK speed tank, you still want the massive damage Teemo's poison gives you.
The Shrooms are the most important skill in Tank Teemo's moveset. Instead of dropping them whenever you can. Always save one shroom in case of an engage. The shrooms not only give your teammates and escape opportunity, but also will deal up to 600 magic damage at rank 3. Many people frequently run through the shrooms to set them off, but they underestimate the power of a Teemo shroom. Suddenly, they find themselves chasing alone with half their health gone. Who's laughing now?
Blinding Dart is another important skill. I've tanked and killed a fed AD Yi with a well timed Q and some shrooms.
Move Quick, use it for getting into fights quickly. Yes, I said getting into. Tanky Teemo is tanky and laying down those shrooms in a team fight will help bring down your enemy's HP. You need to arrive in position ASAP. Taking a point early will help you gank, dodge skillshots, and get into position on time.
In summary, hopefully this guide will create a new role for Teemo within the meta, as Riot has buffed up other champions to the point of Teemo having no place in the attacking world. I love Teemo very much, but there is a point when you must confess he is useless compared to Shaco, Tryndamere, or even Twitch. Teemo will be revived, not as a attack speed carry, but a tank.
