Thanks for the info kitten, I wasn't aware of the planned rework he was getting. As for the build it sounds very similar to what I usually run with more utility based masteries, I will usually prioritize twin shadows for my kage's pick for the extra pursuit/escape mechanic and a safety net while warding in the jungle. I overlooked the mana regen aura for shard of true ice (honestly don't know how I missed that), I'll try that out as it is cheaper and sounds more fluid with a solid escape prevention.

Also thanks for the elaboration laggermiester it helped give me some perspective on how the build conflicts with role, which granted recent studies shows me this build is less viable than I originally thought. Also the notes on runes have been of considerable help I tend to use gold quints for most of my work with Taric but the note on armor marks was something I never really considered and really changes the way I look at my marks and seals respectively. Anyway I will continue my studies, all the help is greatly appreciated you guys.

If you want to improve, the best way to do so is definitely not by writing a guide. A guide is meant to teach others more than yourself.

I would reference Astrolia's work. She has some rather exhaustive writing on supports.

Also, the changes to Taric are apparently not going to be *too* drastic, but don't take my word on that.

Okay let's talk about your runes and masteries (my area of specialization). First the runes - flat AD quints are bad and armor pen reds are even worse. Quints should be gold (standard for supports). If you want offensive reds, they would be magic pen, but the best reds for Taric are flat armor.

Suggested rune setup: flat armor reds, flat mana regen yellows, scaling MR blues, gold quints. This is also known as the Sona rune page.

Now your masteries. Not only is your offense tree obviously specced wrongly, supports should have a core of at least 16 in utility, maxing out Greed and Wealth and grabbing the Explorer tree. Ranged supports usually take at least 17 for Pickpocket . Tanky supports will go 0/13/17 or 1/13/16, but the best mastery page for
Taric is 0/9/21 for that nice extra movement speed and cool down reduction.

How I normally run him:
Start off Faerie Charm, Wards, and Pots. Go back for Philo ASAP. Return later to get Sightstone, Emblem, Boots, and maybe Kage. So I already have 5 slots filled. Then I'll go for Spirit Visage (for the MR) or Zeke's Herald as my sixth, depending on team comp. If I don't do Kage, I'll build Mikael's or Athene's.

Boots → Merc Treads
Emblem → Aegis
Sightstone → Ruby Sightstone
Complete Zeke's/Spirit
Kage → Shard of True Ice (I will do this earlier if my carry is mana heavy)
Aegis → Runic
Philo → Shurelya's

That's more or less my order of completion. Taric isn't mana heavy because passive mana gain BUT THEY ARE CHANGING THIS MECHANIC. It also will become unreasonable to completely build him for MR in the future, like my build does, as HE WILL NO LONGER GAIN ARMOR FROM HIS W.

Yeah, Taric too OP. They're reworking him.

Any recommendations for support Taric builds lilstorm? I am willfully looking through options for him and whatever guides on core game play I can find, and any additional input is greatly appreciated. I know i'm still learning and in hindsight publishing this was hasty, but I am getting the info I was looking for. Even if it's sometimes equivalent to getting a book thrown at the back of my head. Maybe if I started a blog for my questions things would have gone more smoothly, mainly I just didn't know what or how to ask and I'm sure most of that info is out there already. (I am looking though)

Regardless I made this so I can improve on it with practice and so far I personally have found it works just as often as not, mostly because of the early lead it provides your team. This is conducive to how I felt Taric would work well as it makes him a sturdy front line fighter. I am not saying there aren't more effective ways to use him, simply that I find this works well for me. By all means, I am open to suggestions if you have them.

if u want to learn how to support, there are other taric guides full of information on how you should play him.

Not to mention it's pointless to write a Taric guide while he has modifications to his gameplay style in the PBE...which means it'll be obsolete in the matter of, say, a month.

I specify in my description that it isn't a strict support build nor is it what I use most of the time and I am studying the guides he sourced with it at the moment. My reply was not meant as a complaint and honestly advice is welcome. As I said this is an experiment to see what else I can do with taric just feels like a lot of hostility that makes me feel like no one even wants too help the new members in the community, i wasn't aware this was a service reserved for the pro gamers if thats the case then very well I'll simply continue my practice until I can speak with more experience

Well, there was your input.

You have no bloody idea how to play support.

So why don't you start by doing some more research on how support is actually played?

Or how Taric should be played, for that matter.

You should probably put off guide-writing until you're actually in a position to write a guide, not when you're doing stupid experimental stuff like this. Try to get at least 200, if not 300 wins under your belt, preferably 500.
