Patch 7.13 Revisions (July 12th, 17)
Hey there, this can be totally omitted from the Taric guide because it has no relevance to in-game gameplay or strategy, just some things I wanted to cover in the guide that I edited today.
ADDED: NEW vs AP Build (Aggressive Approach)
Since the new patches came out to release changes to some of the most built Taric items in the game, I decided to alter some of the existing vs AP builds because I thought that it was a bit outdated. I also decided to keep the build, just in case that people didn't like my approach to a more aggressive Taric build including Rod of Ages. But, in my experience, this new and aggressive build works, so I made the decision to merely add a 'new' vs AP build to give you, the reader, more options to fit your playstyle. The runes and masteries have stayed the same, but, as always, if you find that you have a suggestion to what is better in the mastery/rune pages, please do not hesitate to comment in the discussion section, and I will get back to you as soon as I can and we can talk about it ^-^.
ADDED: NEW vs AD Build
This follows suit with the one before it, adding it to the build list and the playstyles available. Again, I don't think the old builds are too outdated, but I think that I have had more success with the newer build than the older build. (I'm about to fall asleep, it's 1:24AM where I am right now, so making coherent sentences is really hard.)
I'm sorta qualified.
I've built him everywhere, everything possible to build on Taric I've built at least once. I've built him full AP mid lane and carried a game. I've built him full AP Jungle, at least 6 times now, and I've won many of those games. (The ones we've lost, well, the team just kinda got tilted because there was a Taric in the jungle...)
Let's be honest here. I have played way too many games as Taric. He has such a low skill cap. I'm not proud of it. But, if I can go into any game as any role and do anything to the maximum potential, I've done my job right. And, as always, Taric is the saving grace for a lot of people. His ult can absolutely demolish a teamfight in your favor if he uses it right. Once you've mastered these things on Taric, you're golden to do whatever you please on him. That's why I'm qualified to show you the ropes of bringing him top lane.
And hey, if Nautilus can do it, gems can certainly as **** do it as well.
I use Magic Resist Glyphs because the glyphs give you more MR per glyph, and you never know if you're going up against a really heavy AP team. LeBlanc can destroy you. Teemo can destroy you. Just make sure you're as tanky to their AP members as well as their AD members. You can just kick Master Yi in the groin, he does nothing with all of this armor on you. You're not invincible though. Not without your Cosmic Radiance.
Your runes could also revolve around Attack Speed if you want it. More damage is good, but I personally prefer ARMOR if you want to deal more consistent early damage.
Courage of the Colossus is AMAZING on Taric. Once you go in with your Dazzle, you get that nice proc that gives you a beautiful shield. It's amazing. You'll love it. You'll never take anything again.
Double-Edged Sword is also really good with Taric because of the ***loads of armor you already have. You just deal more damage, which is really coveted. You don't deal that much damage. Having this is awesome toplane.
All the rest, they're pretty static. If you want to change maybe one or two of them, please message me or leave a comment saying what you would rather take, and I will most definitely reply to that as soon as possible. Maybe we can, ya know, help each other out? One Taric player to another?
Bravado, Taric's Passive
Your best friend. Your buddy since Kindergarten."Taric infuses his next two basic attacks whenever he casts an ability. He swings faster with these two attacks, which deal 18 + (4 x level) (+15% of bonus armor) bonus magic damage and reduce his base spells' cooldowns by 1 - 0.6 seconds (scales down with CDR)."
In summary, every time you use any ability, you can auto attack an enemy not ONCE, but TWICE, twice as fast as your attack speed, for extra magic damage scaling with your ARMOR. And as an added bonus, your cooldown goes down on each ability with each strike. You want to use Bravado at all times. Whatever you're doing, make sure you are actively thinking about when you can use your Bravado. Let's give you a scenario in which you would use Bravado.
The jungler is going to gank your lane. Their enemy Yasuo is in lane, half health, dashing **** and being all weeaboo. Your jungler is in the bush. THE Yasuo SEES and he starts walking away. You burned his Flash earlier. Your jungler flashes in! You put on your Bastion on him and you Dazzle the Yasuo. The Yasuo gets unstunned and tries to kill you! WHAT DO YOU DO?!?!?! THE Bravado COMBO!!!
The Bravado combo is as follows:
E + AA + AA + Q + AA + AA + W + AA + AA + Q + AA + AA (repeat)
It looks long and complicated, but it's really not. Here's a breakdown of what's happening here.
You stun them with your E ( Dazzle) and you auto attack them twice, dealing extra damage and lowering your cooldowns. Then you heal yourself with Q ( Starlight's Touch), which then gives you two more auto attacks to use against them, dealing even more damage against them. Next, you cast your W ( Bastion), and auto attack them twice.
Next, you use your Starlight's Touch again, healing for more and dealing two more auto attacks worth of damage. And by that time, your Dazzle is up again, so you rinse and repeat.
That has been the Beginner's Guide to Bravado and the Bravado Combo. I hope you enjoyed XD
You, by choosing this build, have willingly denied the current Meta of League of Legends. You will get yelled at. You will probably also die a lot if you're not aware of what you're doing. It's all fine. That's natural. Taric and his beautiful self, as you may know already, might not be the strongest pick for a top laner out there. However, it's great against one of these champions:
Talon
Riven
Garen
Jhin (Do people still do Jhin top?
Anyone squishy and damage-y
Irelia
Jax (Sorta)
Yasuo's matchup is a fun one, because it's a mind game. Does he have ult up, can you predict his movement with your Dazzle? If you catch him he dies, but if he catches you, you're going to hurt.
Aatrox
Most other people are 'Meh', but there are a few danger zones you do NOT want to be in:
Fiora is just stupid
Darius is also stupid
ANYONE WITH AP
Kayle *shudders*
But, if you build right *COUGH* BUILD MY BUILD *COUGH*, you'll have minimal problems against most every top laner. So, good luck in that cruel, cruel meta, my dude!
