Introduction
Hello Summoners! Welcome to my first Mobafire League of Legends Build. I'm here to create a build on one of my favorite, most versatile, and just plain awesome champions in the game. You and I know him as Udyr, the Ionian Monk. Now, if this is your first time picking up him in games(or any other champion for that matter) don't expect to do well in your first few games. Yes, raging will be involved, but, if Udyr is mastered and played correctly, he can dominate and snowball on Summoners Rift. As I said, it does take some time and patience to do so, I am here to create a "road-map" of how to play and succeed as Udyr solo top. It should not be what you always go as and use every game. I hope you enjoy!
Please Feel Free to leave a rating and a comment explaining why you liked/disliked this build

I will update with new league of legends videos and more soon!
Do be warned...., this is a strictly generic build, do not follow it exactly to every situation. Adapt and counter in the champion select on how you plan on winning your lane.
Lore
I thought it would be cool to add some background to this amazing champion, the story goes...
The mystics of Ionia delve into the deepest mysteries of Valoran, pioneering the most inner depths of spirituality. Their adepts are some of the most devout proponents of enlightenment and harmony...but as is always the case, there are those who follow a very different path. Born in a grassy clearing under a red moon, Udyr has always been compelled by the primal drive within him. His will was not untempered, simply undomesticated. As a boy, he toiled on his father's farm, but he felt a much deeper connection with the mustangs that would graze in the distant fields than with the townsfolk who would visit. Oftentimes he was dragged into the house at night with a swat and a scolding when his parents would find him sleeping beneath the stars.
On the day of his sixteenth birthday, Udyr bade his family farewell and struck a path to the east, determined to shed the trappings of ''civilized'' society. Freed of the shackles of cultural expectations, Udyr tapped into a well of inner ferocity he hadn't known before. His feral senses roiled to the surface and he let them overcome him. It was at this point in his life that Udyr truly lost his humanity. Poachers and travelers who entered his territory did so at terrible risk, and rarely managed to leave it.
A monk on a long journey passed through his woods one day, and Udyr decided to scare him, leaping from a nearby brush. The monk casually turned and redirected Udyr to one side. Udyr, enraged, tried time and time again to best him, but the monk was unassailable. When Udyr was exhausted, the monk wordlessly beckoned him to follow, and together they walked in silence to the Hirana Monastery. The monks there took him in, and taught him to harness and control his animalistic fury...most of the time.

Abilites

Monkey's Agility
Udyr's attack speed is increased by 10% attack speed for a short duration. This effect can stack up to three times.
This is what makes Udyr, Udyr. Great extra damage when you switch to a stance. While waiting to gank in the brush, continuously change stances to stack this passive to deal massive damage when you attack.

Tiger Stance
Activation: Udyr's Next attack will deal a high amount of damage over 2 seconds, and Udyr's attack speed is increased for a few seconds.
Persistent effect- Udyr's Attack Speed is passively increased.
This is the first ability you max out and for great reasons too, early game this is unstoppable against your enemies. Most champions underestimate your l versus 1 ability (at levels 1-3) and go in for those quick first blood kills. But with
Tiger Stance you tear through half of their health extremely quickly, and they're left thinking 'Wait, where did all my health go?"

Turtle Stance
Activation: Udyr gains a temporary shield that absorbs damage
Persistent Effect: Udyr's attacks cannot crit, but he restores Health and Mana equivalent to a percentage of his damage dealt.
Turtle stance is your protection of incoming attacks, and having extreme sustain in lane. That's about all I can say about this ability, you want to make sure you max this ability second.

Bear Stance
Activation: Udyr gains a large movement speed increase for a short duration.
Persistent Effect: Udyr's attacks stun his target for 1 second. This effect cannot occur on the same target for several seconds.
This is your Swiss Army knife of abilities. It can be used to escape, chase, stun, and move faster in general. Use bear stance to stun your enemies, then switch to tiger and repeat until you kill them. Or until they flash :( Be sure to max this ability out third.

Phoenix Stance
Activation- Udyr sends out pulsing waves of fire dealing damage to nearby foes for 5 seconds and has increased Ability Power and Attack Damage.
Persistent Effect- Every third attack, Udyr engulfs enemies in front of him in flame.
Unfortunately, I do not use Phoenix Stance in this build and max it out last. In other circumstances, I use it for jungling and killing minions waves quickly and efficiently. But, in this build, I stick with tiger most of the time when clearing waves.
Mid Game
By now, your team should have a few towers destroyed and your AD carry with a handful of kills (It doesn't hurt for you to have some as well.) And champions are drifting from their lanes and the teamfights begin. This is a very crucial time for Udyr, because he excels in the shifting between early/mid game. Try keeping an eye on dragon and ward the river in-case the enemy team gets any ideas. It is important to do this because you can easily steal/kill low health enemies grabbing dragon with your team and get a really large gold advantage.
Here are the warding placements I would reccommend...
Green Circles are your wards
Blue Circles are optional wards
Yellow Circles are "team wards"(usually placed by jungler/support)
Team Work
Team Work is very important in almost any game, especially in League of Legends. And to be successful with Udyr, there is a lot involved.
Before even choosing Udyr, think of a few things, 'Who is most likely to go top?' and 'How can I counter them'. If you think about it, your destined to loose your lane if the enemy is ranged. Your already at a disadvantage from the start, which is never a good thing against a skilled player.
Ward Placement is KEY to be successful as a solo top champion, you should always have wards up in the river and tri-brushes to secure yourself from ganks.
Communication is what separates the good teams from the great. If you are in solo queue this does not work as well, compared to hopping on with a couple friends. Try to download free software like Skype, or Ventrilo to keep full map awareness and communication between you and your teammates. Call out MIA's as necessary and be aware/tell your teammates when you are going to gank/attack an enemy. This way you two can attack simultaneously and secure those much needed kills. Besides, talking to your friends and dominating is always more fun than the plain win :)
Keep in Mind...
- Play to Win, not to get kills
- Have communication
- Counter Enemies
- Have Fun!

Flawless!!!

Conclusion
As you may have realized or have already known, Udyr is an amazing and versatile champion for any player willing to learn and eventually master him. Udyr, is not only a solo top champion, he can jungle very well. But, I didnt add jungling(even though I can jungle well) because his solo top ability is overlooked and I thought I would base my build off of that.
Remember the most important thing about league of legands is....
HAVING FUN!, so enjoy the game and ignore those haters.
I really hope you read my build and learned how to play Udyr better than beforehand and enjoyed it at the same time.
Thank you.
