Intro

Hey-O it is BonusSatis, how is it going guys? Today on ‘This Is So My New Main’ we are going to look at Teemo - the Swift Scout.

We are going to be looking at
who he is,
what he does,
how to build him
and how to play him.
And how to win at life while being a three and a half foot tall little turd muffin that everyone hates.

A little about the champ

Teemo is classified as a Marksman though all of his damaging abilities scale off of ability power. Teemo is in the set of the oldest champions in the game, he was apart of the original 40 when the game launched. Fun fact is that when Riot first released the game all champions did ability power damage with the exception of a few skills, this explains why Teemo is classified as a marksman with a high attack speed but scales off of AP.
That aside Teemo is a late game, shoot and run champion who excels at ambushes and doing damage over time. He is a high-mobility glass cannon that late game can take down even super feed champions.

Lore

Teemo is from Brandle City, so this is the same place Tristana, Lulu and Gnar come from. Teemo is apart of The scouts of the Mothership, which is one of Bandle City’s most distinguished Special forces unit. He has few friends but they describe him as a happy and cheery young lad with a warm personality who likes to have a cup of honey mead at his favorite inn. Now he is also described as having something like a split personality because of his ability to switch off and not have the lives that he takes faze him. With his amount of solo missions and confirmed kills, Teemo is in a league of his own when it comes to his ruthlessness and swift actions when he is on the hunt. Teemo was best summed up when Tristana said - “Teemo rides a thin line between chipper compatriot and unrepentant killer”

Skins

For Teemo’s skins they all follow one unique characteristic that he is smiling and that his eyes are closed, maybe that his eyes are closed to the carnage around him I don't know, but his skins are-

Woodland forest, Classic Teemo
How can he breathe in space with his helmet open, Astronaut Teemo
White and fluffy Easter bunny, Cottontail Teemo
Look up in the sky, it is a bird, it is a plane it is, Super Teemo
Secret asian man, Panda Teemo
Super badass and by far his coolest skin, Omega Squad Teemo
That haircut is hideous, Happy Elf Teemo
Probably his most boring and unremarkable skin, Recon Teemo
Probably his second most boring and unremarkable skin, Badger Teemo
Let the world burn, Little Devil Teemo

He also has a chrome pack for his cottontail skin in
Blue, pink, i am randomly a dalmatian puppy, strange green and even weirder purple.

Abilties

Passive-
Stand still long enough and you become a living ward, aka best troll trick ever. Once you break camouflage you get a attack speed bonus of up to 80% for three seconds.

Q- Blinding Dart
Point and click, it has amazing AP scaling and it not only blinds them but also does damage over time.

W- Move Quick or also known as GTFO
This ability has two parts. Passive- as long as you dont get hit you get some bonus speed. Active- you get a lot of bonus speed to run your little furry buns to safety.

E-Toxic Shot
This one is purely passive, once it is researched it can not be turned off. It does not consume mana, but it adds a damage over time for auto attacks. Now each auto attack will continue to burn with Ability Power damage for 4 seconds

R-Noxious Trap
You can store up to three charges of mushroom shaped landmines, they go invisible after a few seconds and last up to five minutes. When activated by a minion or enemy champion they slow and poison in a small area of effect.

Ability Tree

There are two different ways to play Teemo, one is a auto attack build and the other is a AP build. I will cover both for what skills to take and what items to build. So this part is simple, for the ADC teemo go E, Q, E and just shoot everything to death, and max E first. And for a Mage build do the opposite Q, E, Q, and max Q first.

Build

For teemo builds the ADC teemo is better at team fighting but late game falls off. Whereas a shreemo build can one shot with mushrooms but has a hard time with teamfighting.

With that said adc teemo is at its core- Essence Reaver, Runaan’s Hurricane, and Nashor's Tooth. Really there is not a set way to build him, you can just pick your favorite ADC items and shoot fast.

For a shreamo build go with More-ll-on-om-i-con, Rylai’s Crystal Scepter,
Luden’ Echo, Liandrys Torment, Void Staff, Rabadon’s Deathcap. Also quick note, that is the build order that I go in, you dont have to but i have found that works well for me.

For a breakdown of items, any arguments, runes, mastories and other suggested items check out my teemo build video, so for now lets just just skip any of that content because that has its own video.

Summoner Spells

Personally I take Exhaust and Flash. Normally your top laner would want to take teleport so he can help gank lanes. Teemo has a built in speed boost for high mobility, so he can get away without it. Also early game Exaust can be used as a chase or escape tool, and when it comes to late game it helps with team fighting, so as i see it Exhaust is a much better option over Teleport.
There is also the Ignite option, now it is a super cheese but on top lane stand in the first bush wait for the enemy champion to run past you, auto attack and ignite them to death for a first blood.

Now the section you all have been waiting for, How to play Teemo

Ok so I said this before teemo is glass cannon, he is so dang squishy. My first few matches with him I struggled with fights, the trick is to attack once maybe twice then run. With any other champion this play style would not get you much but Teemo is all about the DOTs, if he can hit a champion once that means, four seconds later they will still be paying for it. So hard engagements are not good, if they get too close to you run away, soon as they stop chasing turn and hit them. Really that is what teemo is all about, run faster than your enemy, blind them when they are trying to take CS, and then keep them in a constant state of low health from receiving poisoned attacks.

For Laining-

I am assuming you are going to be playing top lane and there are two general groups of champions that you will be playing against, the first is a lane bully like garen or riven the second group is high damage squishies like gangplank or yasuo. For the lane bullies, unless you know you can win, like you at a 8-0 Teemo dont 1v1 them. Trust me you will not win that, wait for a gank from the jungler. Instead use blinds to keep them off their farm and place mushrooms in lane so you can flee and stop their chases. Honestly these are the hardest matchups for Teemo but just use patience and play it smart.
For the second group the high damage squishies, keep the poke up so if and when they try to burst you down they are not at full life, but be relentless on the Qs, that comes up about every 4 seconds. What I do is that I auto attack to farm and once I have my Q I use it. Play aggressive and keep lane control so when they try to break out, simply run away and they find landmines everywhere.
With that said shroom placement is very important and a huge portion of the damage Teemo does. In lane I have a few patterns and favorite areas that work for me, with that said I have seen a lot on where to place mushrooms. So find what works for you. Really just find those high traffic areas and then poop out a shroom and then leave it for some other poor soul to step in.

For Team Fights

So now we either won or lost our lane but it is time for teamfights, and this is where teemo struggles. Unlike the big and strong Darius’s of the world Teemo has a small and fragile little body and will break if dropped. So what to do? Well we make great bait, and trust me people love to kill teemo, so when team fights happen you are bound to be targeted. So when this happens, Q them and run like hell. Teemo is good at that to, still dont hard engage unless they are targeting someone else. Use your blinds wisely, you can stop a lot of damage if the ADC is blind or Warwcick is blinded during his ultimate, Teemo’s blind will even stop people from using a ignite while they are affected. So Blind wisely and throw shrooms everywhere. Throw them in the middle of teamfights, behind the enemy, ahead of the enemy, in the opposing jungle, really put theme everywhere. After a while players become scared to venture out for fear of stepping on a landmine. And that is how you Teemo, put the fear of God into them with hidden mushrooms, take away their ability to hit you with a blind, and when they chase you, show them how fast a furry *** can mov

Tips and Tricks

When placing mushrooms, put them in high traffic areas like blue, red, dragon, baron, into and out of the jungle. Also note where the auto pathing lines are, when making it around an obstacle in the game often a auto move command will take a player near a mine but will still miss it multiple times. So note the pathing and have good mine placement.

You can do a simple auto attack rest with teemo. Click your target, Q right away and then reclick your target, this will reset his timer and allow you to shoot a little faster.

Inevitably you are going to be chased, you have two options, one is if you are enough ahead stand still and you will turn invisible. Unless your pursuer has an area of effect skill and knows where you are they can not hurt you.
The other option is to have your pursuer follow you over the top of previously placed mushrooms. This trick works nicely in lane, just drop a shroom when they are not playing attention and then when they chase you run towards the mushroom, easy damage.

Your mushrooms can act like strange little trampolines, you can bounce them off one another for extra distance. You can bounce them over walls, over champions really however and wherever you want them, so like bumbles they bounce.

Teemo becomes cloaked if he stands still for 3 seconds, if he is in a bush he cloaks faster and maintains cloak while moving only losing it upon leaving the bush. There is also a Masterie called Green Fathers Gift, it gives you bonus damage after entering into a bush. It works really well with teemo, so make sure to use it to your advantage.

If you need to recall or you won your lane and are going to roam. Leave 2 or 3 mushrooms in your lane, you will not get the experience for the kills but you will get the gold from it, and it will also slow any lane pushes. So it will allow you to AFK farm when you are helping with a dragon or middle.

Late Game/Recap

Ok so late game teemo is very scarry, his mushrooms can one shot or 3/4 life champions. The best part is that he does not even need to be nearby in order to do damage or get kills. Now granted people can purchase a sweeping lens and remove them but it is not often they find them all. At the end of the match it is common for a B or C grade Teemo to have the most damage done on the team. So though he might not have the kills but he does the damage. At the end of the day Teemo is a split personality, passive-aggressive, glass cannon who runs fast and leaves little invisible treats of doom. Though when it comes to a stand up fight he just stands still and turns invisible to avoid life's responsibilities.
