I really think you should max E. It's the most consistent tool aatrox has to harass, push, escape, etc. Maxing W does nothing. The scaling is quite poor and you need to have an opponent that will let you auto attack them to use it, making it 10X more effective at putting pressure on your opponent then W.
Hydra is a great item on aatrox, but I strongly disagree that shiv, IE, and BT are good items. I personally start dorans shield or dblade, depending on the matchup, then blade of the ruined king (more cc, more escape, more utility, more attack speed proccing your W and bork passive), the hydra, then typically GA and LW. Obviously, I get boots, typically merc treads.
I don't know why you feel you can skip boots. And I don't know how you can win lanes by maxing W.
