Master Yi Build
Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
Master Yi does not work in every situation. If the enemy team is heavy on CC then you probably want to switch to a different jungle. If not, Yi is absolutely FEARLESS 1v1, and can move across a map with the quickness. When played properly, Yi is nearly unstoppable. He closes gaps with Alpha Strike, and can outrun Singed.
As long as you play smart, know when you would get your *** handed to you, and don't jump into 5v1s, you can play Yi very effectively.
Runes are all going to change based on how you play. For me, I prefer to make Yi a little less squishy, and give him some armor penetration quints/marks and then scaling armor and scaling magic resist for the other two.
I always start Alpha Strike, and then proceed to MAX out Wuju Style ASAP. Obviously with the Ultimate getting the skill points when ever possible. As this is an AD build, meditate while not worthless, is only going to be used sparingly.
Wuju Style is going to provide you killer damage right off the bat. Make you very difficult to handle 1v1 early/mid game.
Creeping / Jungling
So I start Wolves and smite them. I get my team to help and allow me for a smiteless blue. This gets the cooldown started already on smite, as whenever smite is up, use it. That 10 bonus gold you get from using it adds up quickly. The more often you can use it the better.
From blue I do Wraiths, Golems, and then Red. Smite is normally up soon after I start Red. Smite red, and then continue around the jungle for as long as you can. Master Yi is farm reliant. It is super important to get him as farmed as possible ans fast as possible. I normally don't back until I literally cannot jungle any longer for fear of dying to a monster. I normally at this point can b and buy two items, generally Madrids Razor and a Vamp Sceptre. I continue jungling until I hit level 6. At level 6 if I have health, I start the gank fest. With your ult, even without boots you can still run anyone down. Look for the lane that is in best position, and gank. Then Rinse, and repeat. In between ganks, farm the jungle still. Make sure to get blue as often as you can. Your ult resets every time you get a kill while it is active, and if you chain those bastards up you can run out of mana, FAST.
Try to spread ganks around, but generally one lane is far more susceptible to ganks. Once you get a tower or two the lane phase ends. It is still important, however, to continue to farm your jungle when you have down time. Don't farm it instead of team fights.
During team fights, it is important to not rush in first. Let the team fight start, let the ADC and APC focus whomever, then jump in and destroy their carries. At this point, you should have your Phantom Dancer and Black Clever. Yi will be able to 3-4 hit kill their carries if they are squishy. I have two hit an Ashe before. The goal of team fights is to get in, kill, get out, then rinse and repeat. If you are tearing through people stay in, but generally speaking, kill the ADC, get out, meditate, then come back for the AP carry. And then clean up the rest.
