Introduction

Hey folks
I have been playing a lot of Shaco lately. I have tested quite a few things and this is what currently works best for me. That means I have a 75% win rate with this build.
About me: I am a Gold Elo player. (Well, I have been Gold for the last three seasons and I was too lazy to try and climb higher... W/e, think what you want about that.)
I have been playing Shaco over the last Seasons quite a lot and I was a big fan of the old Crit Shaco but everything's changed when Riot attacked.
I am main jungle and I could successfully jungle with three forth of the current champions. Including Karma, Lulu and Ziggs.

Summoner Spells

Smite:
Well. That should be obvious. No Smite means no objective controle, far less experience in the jungle and so on. You want this.

Exhaust:
Now, We highly prefer Exhaust over Ignite.
Exhaust is so much more than just a slow.
It reduces the enemy's attackspeed by 30% and their total damage dealt by an additional 40%.
THIS makes us duel a fed Riven. THIS lets us take on an enemy Jax or Lee Sin early in the game even if they are full life. THIS helps us catch up to someone who flashed away on our first gank. Ignite could never do that. Exhaust can also provide a PEEL for our ADC in a team fight.

Runes

We are going to run a full Lethality Build and will end with 82.5 Lethality
This is about the amount of armor an ADC has at the end of the game with 9 Armor Seals and no Guardian Angel. Going with 24 Lethality in our runes and 8.5 in our masteries will ensure that they are naked to us pretty much all game long as well as providing an additional 65 true damage from our Duskblade. 5% Flat CDR and 5% scaling will total to 10 in the end and max us out at 40 with Trinity Force and Youmuu's

Items

Playing Shaco in my opinion is all about the very first hit.
A typical late game delete move starts about like this:

Channel Edge of Night -> Q over a wall or out of a bush -> activate Youmuu's while invisible
Find your target, get behind them for your passive crit, blow them to pieces with your first hit.
Your first hit procs Q Bonus Damage, Trinity Force, Duskblade (which will be an extra 215 true damage on full build), Dead Man's Plate Bonus Damage and SLOW plus the SLOW from your E on top of it.
Rotation after your first hit: Hydra, 2nd autohit, E.
If you are uncertain if you can completely annihilate your target with this (that means if they stacked some armor or maybe bought a Sterak's, plant a Jack in a Box right after your first hit. The stacked up slow from your E and Dead Man's Plate will make it almost impossible for them to get away in time before the fear kicks in.

Debatable Items:

- Why don't I go for a Warrior's Enchantment?
Trinity Force and Youmuu's will max us out at 40% CDR with those 10% we get out of our runes.
Additionally we sell our jungle item when we go for the Edge of Night and since we usually get 3 Poacher's Dirks over the course of the game (Which saves us 1050 Gold total) we end up at this point fairly soon. The Red Smite to efficiently duel anyone who thinks a Shaco makes for an easy kill is enough early on. At the point where you sell it, they don't even think about this anymore... And you still have Exhaust anyway

- Why Berserkers Greaves?
We don't like Boots of Mobility. More attack speed means more damage and more damage from our clone. We are going to be fast enough anyway and IF they flash away after our first hit, We don't want to be suffering from mobi boots movement penalty.
If you don't like Berserkers, go Mercury's Treads, Boots of Swiftness or Ninja Tabis. Ionians would provide more Exhausts but again fail at the maxed out CDR.

Jungling and First Gank

Unfortunately since the assassin update our early Q does not provide Invisibility for a long time. 1.5 Sec really ain't that much.
My first clear usually goes like this:

2 Boxes to Blue (first at 0:45. remember, the boxes last for 60 sec and need to be firing 5 sec, so they ideally last until 1:45 with the blue spawning at 1:40)
1 Box to the Gromp. You will see that there is a pond-like zone around him. Plant the Box along that line and he won't aggro it.
Kill the Blue, kill the Gromp, kill the Wolves. It should be around 2:30 now. Immediately rush to Scuttle Crab, you NEED this. Go back into your Jungle and take Krugs. This is the point where I first use Smite. Not because I need the HP but because it makes things a bit faster. Kill the Krugs, kill the Red. You will have the 2nd Smite Charge ready for it now.
(if you do it the other way around, your Smite won't be off its 15 sec global CD before the big Krug falls... and besides it's better to have your red buff for a longer time to gank.)
If you did not take the Scuttle Crab you will be Lvl 3 at this point. and taking Raptors early on for a jungler with no AoE... Don't even try. With the extra Scuttle EXP you will be level 4 now and your Q lasts for 2.25 seconds. THAT is something to gank with. And... No worries. You are Shaco. You are still faster than about anyone else. Even if the enemy counter ganks us now, we will have the Summoner Spell advantage through Exhaust.
Usually the easiest gank is toplane. The lane is long and we got a triple slow from Red Buff, E and Exhaust (if you need it). If you go mid or bot, try to Q over a wall or in case of botlane, use the Blast Cone on the red side jungle to your advantage. Blast Cone-Q gets you almost directly in the enemies backs.
Be creative with your pathing. Q over the Dragon or Baron pit to dodge a ward. Every wall in the game is an opportunity.

Notes on clearing jungle camps:
Your Passive only lets you crit if behind your target. Jungle monsters will usually face you unless a Box is closer to them than you are. The box however will not last forever and when it is gone, they will turn towards you.
The current monster mechanics make them turn around right before they hit so if you time it correctly, you can walk in their backs after they hit for the extra crit damage.

Also quite often you will get your Box off cooldown after around 80% of the camps HP are gone. Save time by planting a Box and letting it do the rest for you while you are already on your way to the next camp. Caution: You may need to practice this. If your box dies before it can finish the camp you are basically screwed and wasted a lot of time.
A Box will be able to take out approximately 1 small wolf or 3 mini Krugs or finish the last 200 hp of the Gromp. You will never do this with the raptor camp since you won't be doing them before getting a Tiamat.

When doing scuttle ****, walk behind it, plant a box in its way, and then abuse its mechanic. Scuttles will run away from YOU, not from your Box. So maneuver around it to make it stick to the box.

Hallucinate (R)

Our Q makes us strong... our Ultimate is the only really broken skill though.
This allows us to dodge literally EVERYTHING. It completely removes us from the game for 0.5 seconds. Ever heard of an "Iframe" (Invincibility frame)? It's basically just that.

Short list of things that will tilt your opponents to Oblivion:
Caitlynn Ult
Zed Ult
Vi Q, Ult
Nautilus Ult
Viktor stun
Lux Q, Ult
Veigar Ult
Ekko Stun, Ult (And in this case, your Ult is your only chance of survival. He hits his ult on us - we die.)

and so on. Many of these mean that someone is going to suffer ... but it's not gonna be us.

To summarize it: if it is not instant (unlike Tibbers for example), you can dodge it and some of these plays are really fun to watch and even more fun to do oneself.

Skill Sequence

Max Q first
Why? Longer invisibility, the longer it is the more possiblities you have.
Jumping over the Dragon/Baron Pit, run past the red, plant a ward, run behind the red, and then drop out of invis. That's neat.
When assassinating someone, the extra time allows you not just to get close but to get behind for the extra crit on your first hit from your passive.

Max W second
Why? Longer Fear duration, simple.
Also if you plant a Box near a turret while he is attacking a Siege minion, your box will deal like 300 Bonus damage to it.

Why not max E sooner?
Our E is an execute Spell now
It scales from missing life but the amount of this bonus damage depends on Shaco's level, not on the rank of the skill.

Spending those additional FOUR skill points on E results in 3 things:
- it COSTS 20 mana more
- it slows by a lousy 10% more
- it deals an additional 120 damage.
The cooldown stays the same. This is by no means worth 4 skill points.

Want to compare it? The best comparison is Janna's W - Zephyr. That is almost the same skill. Point and click slowing projectile.
Janna's W changes from rank 1 to 5 in the following parameters:
- manacost increases by 40 mana (on a mana(regen) stacking Support. wow...)
- slow increases by 16%
- damage increases by 220 points (so thats 100 dmg more than the Two-Shiv-Poison)
- and an additional +8% movespeed while off cooldown (9% on rank 1, 17% on rank 5).
Here the skill points are well invested.

Late game

You basically have two jobs late game:
Assassinate the enemy Mid laner or AD Carry or
Splitpush
There is no champ with a faster base clear than Shaco except for a really well farmed Nasus maybe. You got your ult, you got your Boxes, both can hit turrets. You can win a base race 1v2 easily.
Your hydra allows you to clear a wave in a few hits and if they happen to come for you, just jump away.
Ideally you can lure like 2 enemies to the lane you are pushing, then hop over a wall and be in the back of their teammates before they are even close to getting back to them.

Summary

That's it for now.
I will add in images as soon as I find out how to do this now. This was a lot easier when I did my last guide (which was a couple years ago, I admit)

I will finish with a short video of my last game. I had just completed my Youmuu's at this point. Keep an eye out for the box.
