Kog'Maw is a slow character. He is long-ranged and can be used as a great harasser. He hits hard, but is best served in team fights in the back, hitting hard with Bio-Arcane Barrage and Living Artillery. When playing as Kog, stay close to teammates early game. You can slow enemies and ensure you and your allies escape, or stop your enemies from theirs. Caustic Spittle lets you help teammates by reducing the enemies armor and magic resistance. It can save their lives in a fight. Be sure to help each other out. While playing him, you must remember to always be moving unless using Bio-Arcane Barrage. He is a squishy and easily killed. You must hit hard, fast, and live to tell the tail. Do not get greedy. Do not let yourself be killed just because of the passive which allows you to blow up. Even if you kill them, it still means that they got a kill and are just as far ahead as you.

You need to start off with Void Ooze for early gank. It slows the enemy down and allows for teammates to come help you secure First Blood. After that, you want to max out Bio-Arcane Barrage. Without that, he is useless. It takes their maximum health as damage with all your attacks. Up to 6% health can be taken per hit without going AP Maw. You want to obtain Caustic Spittle for the passive attack speed and the armor reduction of enemies. Get Living artillery for harassment whenever you can. Void Ooze uses up too much mana and does to little, so get it once and only get it again once you have everything else maxed.

Using Armor Penetration allows you to harm enemies far much more, along with using his Bio-Arcane Barrage. Add the Attack Speed and Kog'Maw spits out over 2.0 attack speed. The magic resistance helps Kog'Maw's chances. Some is better than none.

The Berserker Greaves allows Kog faster speed and Attack speed. Madred's Bloodrazor helps with crowd control, gives an additional 4% damage of targets max health, armor, damage, and attack speed. Phantom dancer allows Kog's movement to be heightened, attack speed increased, and critical chance. Frozen Mallet grants Kog not only health and damage, but the ability to slow down his enemies to allow him and his allies to attack and secure a kill. The Bloodthirster gives lifesteal along with massive damage. The Black Cleaver gives attack speed, armor penetration, and damage.
