Introduction

Thanks to Searz for the awesome guide format! You can find it here.

I will not go through what the abilities do. It can easily be learned by reading the ability tooltips and simply using the spell.

Mouse-over any items or abilities to see their tooltip.

What and Why

Wukong is a swift, melee dps fighter that can get in and out of fights with great AoE damage, single target burst, and deception. He is a great asset to a team. I like to build Wukong like a bulky dps champion with my main core being Trinity Force. You need to build Wukong tanky dps because Cyclone and Nimbus Strike require you to be right in the middle of the fight and you need the survivability. Do not build full DPS Wukong, ever, unless against bots, his kit really forces him to be right in the mash of fights and his passive doesn't make up for this completely. Even though it is 32 armor/magic resist in team fights, your will die the second you cast cyclone if you build dps. Trinity Force is all you need to do insane damage, much like with Irelia. The rest of your build has to be tanky depending on enemy team.

Runes

Greater Mark of DesolationGreater Mark of Desolation
These are easily the best marks for Wukong the armor penetration goes great with your Crushing Blow and you will be doing practically true damage early on.

Greater Seal of Resilience
These are needed early game for when you solo, it gives you great defense against harass and goes well with your Stone Skin.
Greater Glyph of Warding
These are for the same reason as the seals, however you can swap them for per level for the late game bonus instead.

Greater Quintessence of Swiftness
These are great for early game lane control and chasing, it makes boots not needed early on, and you can focus on getting the gold items.

Summoner Spells

Flash
Flash is needed to escape with Warrior Trickster and engage with your Cyclone, it is the best summoner spell in the game, you should always use it.

Ignite
This is needed for early game kills in solo top. With this and your Cyclone, no one shall escape your damage or heal through it.

Skilling Sequence

E > Q > Q > W > E > R > E > E > E > Q > R > Q > Q > W > W > R > W > W

I get Nimbus Strike first for early harass and last hitting. Then I get 2 points in Crushing Blow to give it good damage and be the same cooldown as Nimbus Strike so you can multi harass. Then I grab Warrior Trickster once at 4 and leave it because it doesn't gain much benefits. After this I max Nimbus Strike first followed by Crushing Blow and Warrior Trickster. Of course getting ultimate whenever possible.

Starting Items

Regrowth Pendant
This is the optimal item for solo top, it gives you great sustain in lane so you can last hit and harass without having to go back.

Health Potion
Take this potion because you will have gold left over and it is the best choice, it can get you from 100 health to full over it's duration with your Regrowth Pendant

Why Gold Items?

Philosopher's Stone
Philosopher's Stone

Heart of Gold
The reason we get gold items is because overall they are amazing items, they help you get the money for your main core item Trinity Force while giving great cheap stats that help you stay in lane. They also build into 2 awesome items that have spectacular synergy with your Cyclone. I get these 2 gold items on all of my tanky dps champions. They just offer so much, for such little price.

Core

Trinity Force
Trinity Force is just perfect for Wukong the Sheen effect goes great with your Crushing Blow and it also provides every other stat you could need, crit, attack speed, health, mana, movespeed, and a chance to slow enemies. With your gold items you will have no problem getting this.

Mercury's Treads
These are essential boots on Wukong they help you stay in fights and cause ruckus, you can be easily stunned while using Cyclone so you need these to back you up.

Items After Core

Force of Nature
In my opinion this is the best possible item to get after Trinity Force the extra speed will help out your Cyclone it has amazing health regen and the highest magic resist in the game. Once you get this casters won't do ish to you, and you will have well over 400 base movespeed.

Randuin's Omen
This item just works SO well with Wukong it builds straight from Heart of Gold, it gives the armor that you are lacking, cooldown reduction, and an active that slows and reduces attack speeds of enemies. I can't emphasize enough how good this goes with Cyclone. AoE slows and knock up's for everyone!

Shurelya's Reverie
This is another amazing item to get on Wukong, it builds straight from Philosopher's Stone for only 1400 gold and gives you more health, CDR, and regen. Also the active on this can really help you get into fights with your Cyclone and just cause chaos. The speed boosts helps initiate when you don't have flash up. Also you can Warrior Trickster and pop this for guaranteed escape.

Atma's Impaler
The game probably won't last this long but get this item last to finally take advantage of your large health bar and give you the damage you might need. Also it gives armor and crit to go with your Trinity Force.

Laning Phase

Wukong is a very strong laner when played correctly. The optimal choice for Wukong is to solo top preferably 1v1. In a duo-lane he dies quickly in 1v2 and it is harder to farm. If you are against a squishy mage or bad early game carry, you can play very aggressive once you get level 2 Crushing Blow and Nimbus Strike, you can easily close the gap, and whack them with your auto-attack. Once you hit level 4 and you are confident with mana, you can Nimbus Strike, Crushing Blow, and Warrior Trickster to harass with no harm. Do most of your last hitting with auto-attacks and Crushing Blow, if a lane gets too pushed, use Nimbus Strike to clear them quickely. Your regrowth pendant should keep you in lane long enough to go back to base for a Heart of Gold, Philosopher's Stone and possibly boots. If you have movespeed quints I wouldn't worry so much about boots right away, however if you take armor penetration, then try to get boots as soon as possible after at least one gold item. Once you hit level 6 you can easily kill your opponent with your full combo and Ignite plus Cyclone. Remember, if someone ganks you just Warrior Trickster and Flash. Also if you do happen to be in a 1v2, don't worry because your Warrior Trickster negate most of their harass and make them unable to tower dive you.

Team Fights

In team fights, charge in at a squishy with Nimbus Strike, then Crushing Blow them. After this hit Warrior Trickster and go to town with your ultimate. If you have Randuin's Omen or Shurelya's Battlesong then remember to use them too. Teamfights should normally go in your favor because your ultimate is pretty much amazing. Sometimes you can just use your ult for the knockups then cancel and go for the squishies. It really helps if you have an Amumu or Galio on your team for super destruction.

Tips and Tricks

-Press S to trick people into thinking you used Warrior Trickster
-When being focused in team fights use Warrior Trickster to escape
-Close gaps and sneak up on people with the 1.5 second stealth that Warrior Trickster gives
-Your [[Crushing Blow resets your attack timer, so use it right after an auto attack for full effectiveness
-Flash in and Cyclone to initiate teamfights with heavy CC
-If the enemies spread when you use Cyclone just try to knock everyone up once then cancel it by pressing the key again, and go for squishies with Nimbus Strike and Crushing Blow
-When being chased, use Warrior Trickster and change directions to trick people.
