Poppy as a champion has a really tough early game especially in lane. Choosing poppy is very situational however if played in the right circumstances is a free win ever since champ select. It is a good idea to recommend your jungler to take a path that will lead him top lane for an early gank. A poppy with first blood or even a kill from a gank will start a snowball that is god like. (If you are blue team recommend your jungle start red then go wraith, blue and then top. If you are purple team then recommend your jungler start blue then go, wraith red top.) YOUR GOAL AS POPPY IS TO GET TO LATE GAME. This means if you are low JUST BACK! You can't afford to die to your lane opponent because if you are going equal with him then as time goes on you will become more OP. The critical part of poppy to winning matches and carrying your team is that you need to assassinate their adc. If they want to fight then they will fight in 4v5 because YOU WILL make sure their adc is ALWAYS dead. With the old school build you can duel pretty much anyone even without your ult and with the Y BB adc slaying build the enemies may question whether you are leblanc with a DFG because your burst will be OFF THE CHARTS!!~ There are some situations where playing poppy is probably not a good idea. Pick with caution if the enemies have chosen any of the following characters. (Jarvan, Vayne, Tristana and Syndra) It can be quite tricky to kill these carries as poppy. (Jarvan not included in "carry") If they choose jarvan it becomes necessary to pickup flash because if you ult the carry he can simply ult you and without flash you are useless. This takes up a precious summoner slot that is used for ghost which allows you to quickly enter their team assassinate the carry and make a clean getaway. Also assassinating vayne, syndra *if syndra is fed or tristana can be hard because they have good disengages and can shoot you back and away from them which means your ultimate form is slowly ticking away while you are forced to chase... Also if they have chosen a carry such as Varus who can cc you if you try to own his *** it might be a good idea to replace an item of the build with a quick silver sash.
