Hello this is my first guide on mobafire and the champion in this guide is Diana. I am by no means the best player with Diana but my build and strategy has won me my fair share of games. Here is some Diana Lore:
An unyielding avatar of the moon's power, Diana wages a dark crusade against the sun-worshiping Solari. Though she once sought the acceptance of her people, years of futile struggle shaped her into a bitter, resentful warrior. She now presents her foes with a terrible ultimatum: revere the moon's light, or die by her crescent blade.
Though she was born to the Solari, Diana's inquisitive nature set her apart from her brethren. She had always found solace and guidance in the night sky, and questioned the dominance of the sun in her society. The Solari elders responded to her challenges with only derision and punishment. Diana remained convinced, however, that if she could find evidence of the moon's power, the elders would listen to reason. For years, she studied Solari archives in solitude until she discovered an encoded message hidden in an old tome. This clue led her to a secluded valley on Mount Targon where she unearthed the hidden entrance to an ancient, sealed temple. Inside, among aging relics and faded murals, she found an ornate suit of armor and a beautiful crescent blade, both inscribed with sigils of the moon. Diana donned the armaments and returned to the Solari elders that night. She declared that the artifacts proved others had once worshiped the moon as she did. Her discovery of evidence challenging Solari dominion shocked the elders. To Diana's horror, they pronounced her a heretic and condemned her to death. As the elders prepared her for execution, Diana's anger and sorrow overwhelmed her desire for acceptance. She lifted her gaze to the sky, calling upon the moon for strength. Lunar power surged within her and she shattered her bindings. Raising her relic blade, she turned and slaughtered the elders. With the temple in ruins behind her, Diana resolved to destroy all those who would deny the power of the moon.
Pros / Cons
Extremely low cooldowns, especially for ultimate
Somewhat tanky due to Pale Cascade
Crescent Strike is difficult to dodge and can be spammed
Effective farming for melee champ
Very flexible in item build
Can be quite squishy
Low damage output
Range is not so good
Lunar Rush is weak for a ultimate
It's important to remember that by the time you're level 18 your Crescent Strike will most likely do more damage than Lunar Rush.
However, Lunar Rush is an extremely good gap closer and allows you to use your Moonfall and Pale Cascade, slowing them, dealing damage and allowing your teammate to catch up with you and hopefully getting the kill. Even if they get away with Flash or something similar, you can simply Crescent Strike them again and use your hopefully-not-on-cooldown Lunar Rush.
In addition, can be used to dodge skillshots such as Finales Funkeln or Trueshot Barrage or even Cannon Barrage
Also, Moonfall isn't as useless as it looks. You can use it stop stop abilities that need channeling such as Drain, Crowstorm, Absolute Zero, and Meditate
Skill SequenceCrescent Strike to be maxed out first as it does the most damage and has the longest range
Next we get Pale Cascade as it works as a both offence and defense ability
Moonfall is extremely useful in ambushes, escapes, and offence.
And of course we get Lunar Rush as soon as it's available.
great for getting more items early game and extreme mobility
long cooldown, low damage, and short range. not my favorite but does the job as a finisher
a good overall spell, and a nice replacement for flash if you're not level 12 yet
Greater Mark of Magic Penetration
Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist
Greater Quintessence of Ability Power
Greater Seal of Armor
There are many viable item choices for Diana. However, the following is my favorite and works really well for almost any situation:
Nashor's Tooth gives attack speed that helps passive, ap, mana regen, AND cooldown reduction for extra spamming of Crescent Strike
Eleisa's Miracle is an amazing item for almost any champion in the game. Permanent extra health and mana regen with no inventory space taken? yes please!
Hextech Revolver gives good spell vamp and AP which can be very useful early game.
Liandry's Torment Health, Ap, Magic pen and DOT? Amazing item
Rabadon's Deathcap, please, tell me any Ap champ that doesn't have this
Rylai's Crystal Scepter nice stats and passive syncs well with Liandry's Torment
What people don't appreciate is that your Pale Cascade can be used for both defense and offence. Due to the low damage output it's especially useful for farming as you are a melee champ it will also protect you from the ranged opponent's harass. (assuming it is a ranged opponent) Your Crescent Strike can also be used for farming, however it is more useful for harass as the odd trajectory makes it near impossible to dodge and as a result you can really wear down your opponent while maintaining a reasonable deal of health.
Creeping / Jungling
Diana is quite a viable jungler due to her shield Pale Cascade and her ability to launch surprise ganks with her Crescent Strike and Lunar Rush.
Pale Cascade also allows you to turret dive making your ganks even more effective if your opponent is hugging their turret
