Chapter 1

This is my first guide and i'm not really good with formatting so i'd love if someone would like to help me clean this up, but for now here goes.

Maokai is perfect for a tanky champ. Run your lane with a spam cast hero such as ryze and be aggressive. Your passive gives you 7% of your health every 5 spells cast around you and with a double lane and a nice harassing ap hero with you the regen pops quite often allowing you to get in and do more last hits and harass more with your spells. Early game avoid using your Q unless it's a sure kill and try not to use it when there is a full creep wave around as you will eat the creeps hate there after. with the mana regen from masteries, runes, and your items, you should be able to reliable harass with your E and Q without running oom often. always keep back enough mana for a spare sapling for warding purposes, you have no escape and seeing the gank coming will save you more often than knocking the enemies back with your q.

Try to ward your jungle bush with a sapling every time an enemy is MIA. Don't keep them down permanently as this is a waste of mana that could be better spent on an Q or on a W with an ally to dish some pain. Map awareness is something key to every player and this is just as true with the treant.

Use of your ult with scare enemy heroes out of the area to avoid the damage, and with no slow component like nunu's it's difficult to get damage out from it. Try to save it for team fights and only use it when there are two plus enemy champions as you should never be traveling alone and you should be able to finish off most heros 1v2 before you or your ally dies.

Your passive's healing is an enormous amount of healing in a teamfight. you will nearly always have the passive up and thats 7% of your max health on each attack making you very tanky.
